blood tests

Can anyone tell me what extrsa things i will be tested for please because im half english half italian?? Apparently i have to have further tests because of being half italian xx

The main one is a hereditary blood condition called thalassaemia (not sure of the spelling) which is more common in people of Mediterranean origin. Chances are you don't have it, but you might be an unaffected carrier. It isn't very common but I think they actually test all pregnant women for it anyway as part of the booking in blood test. Perhaps they don't do that in your area and only test people with Mediterranean blood.

Huh, I had no idea about this and I'm 50% Italian! When I went to my first OB appt yesterday they asked all sorts of race questions, but nothing about Mediterranean descent.
