Hi Ladies,

I am 33weeks, just noticed my lips have slowly started losing colour, they are very blue at the minute. I was told I needed iron in my last appointment (3 weeks ago), been taking that so my levels should be fine. Ive also noticed I get a bit short of breath for no reason, like my heart is palpatating (sp) super fast - even when I am just sitting down (I just assumed this was just another pregnancy related problem).

I am 27, fairly healthy, Im not big, fairly small frame (with a big bump lol :happydance:) I was a smoker (been quit since I found out about bubs), getting a bit worried, my blood pressure was perfect (in MW's own words) at the last visit.

Anyone else had anything like this?

Thanks ladies! Probably me just over reacting!

xx

Blue lips is a sign of lack of Oxygen. I think you should get ahold of your doctor hun cause that honestly does not sound to good.

WSS^^
Def call your labour ward hun, hope its all ok
xx xx

call the doc to be sure but they are classic signs of bad anaemia. hope you feel better soon x

Does not sound good at all. I'd go to ER right away if I were you. Good luck.

All your symptoms are putting up red flags for me. Blue lips are a sign of too little oxygen in your bloodstream, heart palpatations and shortness of breath are also signs of this. I would get checked out ASAP....keep us posted.

Sorry but i had to come back and add this. If you are not getting enough oxygen. Then your babies not getting enough. I don't want to scare you but hope you get it checked as soon as possible not only for your health but the health of the baby hun.

it could be a sign of aneamia, maybe ur iron isnt at a high enough dose. defo contact a doctor as soon as possible just to be safe.

my mum suffers from aneamia, and she get palpertations and has has blue lips and become very pale looking when she's not had enough iron. x

I agree, get to the doctor as soon as possible. I don't mean to worry you, but blue lips means lack of oxygen, if you aren't getting enough, babs isn't getting enough. This can happen when anaemia gets really bad. Your doctor may want to give you iron injections to really bump it up

Keep us posted, I'm sure you'll be fine xx

I actually read that blueish lips are a sign of stress in pregnancy. I was really stressed about a month and a half ago and my lips went a little blue, but it went away within a few hours. I would contact your doctor though just to make sure. But the shortness of breath can be from the baby taking up room. The palpitations are also a classic sign of stress.
