Blue Pumpkins

DH and I found a place with blue pumpkins this weekend and had to get one (along with the traditional orange I thought we needed). I carved the blue (which turned out to be a real pain because it was so darn thick) and DH carved the orange (his first time carving pumpkins). Has anyone else ever had one of the blue pumpkins?

BTW I realized after we bought them they happen to be Florida Gator colors, so many of my friends would probably like them.

Looks fab! I've never heard of blue pumpkins before, I thought they only came in orange

They're not the norm around here either. Before we found this batch I had only ever seen a picture of one in a book. I've kept a few seeds for my dad to try to grow next year.

The orange one only lasted about 4 days and was then overtaken with mold (I think partly due to Florida's harsh environment). The blue one is still okay, but does also have a bit of mold inside. I'm pretty sure it's not going to make it to Halloween. We carved them when we did because I did it more for DH to have the experience and that is the only time he'll be home before Halloween. I really didn't expect them to make it that long.
