BLW - what did your LO eat today?

When Sophia is teethng (which seems to be constantly) we put all her fruit in the fridge so it is really cold for her, that and yoghurt is her usual teething sure things!

We freeze banana for teething, DD loves gnawing on it (and just keep an eye on her)

Sun - could I please have your sweet pot pancake recipe? DD LOVES sweet pot!

Ok, so today...

B: dorset cereals apple porridge with banana, cinammon bread with butter
S: cup of smoothie (then demanded a BF straight after!)
L: cod in chive sauce, sweet potato mash, courgettes, yoghurt, strawberry
S: small piece of homemade flapjack
D: small piece quiche, pasta twirls, courgette, strawberry and plums. Rejected chicken and carrots (with the arm sweep of a real diva!)

I bookmarked the sweet potato pancake page to remind me to get ingredients :happydance:

Oh Thanks Jenny!! I was searching around to see where I posted it!

Also - that is more of a breakfast pancake with sweet potato, not like a savoury potato-only pancake.
But I do have a recipe for that if you are looking for something more along those lines!! xx

Thank you - and yes please! Sweet and savoury both well received!!

Just a question - how/when did you all introduce peanut butter? I eat tons of nuts/nut butters including peanut butter, so I think Bun has had some exposure - but there is so much buzz about waiting until 2 or 3 years that I am a bit freaked out about it. We are thinking of driving to the hospital parking lot and sharing a pb sandwich LOL...

 well that's one way to be sure...

I first offered smooth peanut butter when Adam was 7 months I think, just a couple of times. He was obviously fine, no reaction at all, which is what I expected as we have no known family history of nut allergy. I offered it on toast, with fruit spread. Today was the first time he'd had it without something sweet (it is unsweetened PB) and I was pleased he seemed to like it.

I ate quite a lot of PB when I was pregnant, well, not every day but at least once a week. So glad Adam doesn't have a problem with it. :D

Sweet Potato & Courgette Pancake

1 medium sweet potato
1 large courgette
1 cup corn flour ( I use whatever flour I have, usually whole barley)
1/2 tsp baking powder
tiny pinch salt/pepper
1 egg
1/4 cup whole milk (I use rice milk)

Peel/grate sweet potato and grate courgette (don't need to peel). Wrap grated veggies in a clean kitchen towel to get excess moisture out. There will be about 1 cup of each veg. Put in large mixing bowl. In a small bowl mix flour and baking powder and season with salt/pepper. Add flour mixture, milk and egg to vegetables and stir just until combined. I usually just add as much milk as I need to make it combine well. Scoop out batter and make rounded balls. Flatten onto cakes on frying pan (medium heat) and cook until golden brown. I use very little oil to pan fry the cakes.

This recipe is from "Cooking for Baby" - highly recommended cookbook for TW!! I just use to recipes in the 12-18 section - all the younger recipes are purees.

xx

Edit: This is the plain recipe - I usually spice things up with something like cumin/curry or cinnamon/allspice to add some zing.

Thanks! I eat almond butter once a day minimum! When I was pregnant, I ate a jar a week - I could not get enough of almond butter! I eat PB as well (as does OH) so I hope he doesn't develop a problem. Our butters are also unsweetened - so so good. I might have to make myself some toast right now!

I offered peanut butter when Ruby was 8 months I think. She only had a bit and didn't like it, but had no reaction. I wasn't expecting one though as there are no allergies in our family.

Today Elliott ate -

B-Porridge with strawberrys
L-Toast with fruit puree spread (loved this!), rice cake with philadelphia (always loves this!), a tomato, 1 biscotti, nectarine and pear
S-2 rice cakes
D-Spag bol with fusili pasta, Yeo Valley yoghurt and 2 plums

Thanks for the chicken bite recipe Claire...Elliott loved them (I have also found out that he loves sun dried tomato pesto!).

He loves plums at the moment and is so clever at stripping the flesh from the skin and then spitting it out of his mouth!

B: shreddies, blueberries & a single raspberry
L: just over half a slice of granary toast spread with sardine paste (tinned sardines in tomato sauce mashed with cream cheese & a squeeze of lemon - sounds gross but it's sooooo yummy!), slice of pepper, lick of tomato, breadstick. Half a banana. Frozen fromage frais
S: humzinger
D: mashed potato (2tablespoons), beans (low salt & sugar), half a sausage - his fave coz he had injections today! Followed by half a banana & Greek yoghurt :)

finally in the last week my boy has decided to eat banana :)

Joeyjo, I just copied your sardine paste and it was lovely! Thanks for that :)

joeyjo I might copy that sardine paste with avocado instead of cream cheese (LO can't eat dairy) - I want more fish in his diet and sardines are sooo healthy! xx

B: Scrambled egg, toast, shreddies and pear
Sn: Innocent fruit Squeezie (£1 in Sainsburys at the mo!)
L: Sweet potato and courgette pancakes (thanks, Sun!), sugar snap peas, broccoli, carrots, yoghurt
Sn: Banana
D: Cottage pie with odd DD stylee twists (she currently only seems to like it if I add cinammon) more broccoli. A trial of baby-friendly trifle :D

B: sheeddies with milk, bannana, few blueberries
S: 2 organix cranberry rice cakes, bread stick
L: cucumber, tuna Mayo sandwich, bit of lettuce, melon
S: 2 more rice cakes, Heinz baby biscuit, few strawberries

Adam has had:

b: most of a Weetabix & yogurt, an orange, raisins
l: 1 buttered blueberry pancake, chunk of cheddar cheese, dried cranberries, most of a mini pitta with pumpkin seed & peanut butter, raisins
s: most of a ricecake with creme fraiche and Marmite
d: 1/4 of a home-made turkey burger (which he seemed to love but took the rest away because OH was convinced they were not cooked and would not eat his, so I threw it all in the bin - even though I'd followed the recipe exactly and even baked them in the oven for a while after they were allegedly cooked  ), a small piece of pitta pizza, a small piece of ricecake with pumpkin seed butter, cranberries, an apricot, a few pieces of chicken

I always put cinammon in my cottage pie, yum!

Sooooo disappointed. Today started off so well but it went so horribly wrong...

B: Mini oatibix (ate only a small bit)
L: 1 scrambled egg, half a yoghurt, few bits of toasted english muffin w/ sugar free jam
S: Innocent smootie stick, heinz biscotti
D: Sweet potato chips, cucumber sticks, tomato, a good few PL spoons of green curry & rice, with finger foods of potato & carrots from the curry, followed by a strawberry which he actually ate!!

Then: he fell, banged his cheek, threw up his whole dinner. Poor monkey :) horrible end to a good day...

Oh, Jenny - hope he's ok :hugs: It's so hard with the bumps and bruises, isn't it? DD hit her foot on the piano the other day, and I was kissing it better for a very long time!

L: Mushroom and leek quiche, courgettes, carrots, smoothie stick, half a yoghurt, stewed plum
