BLW - what did your LO eat today?

Today was a good-ish day. I can finally say that we've mastered the PL spoon! :happydance:

Not that we couldn't do it before, but I now have a 2 spoon rotation going, so that C doesn't get frustrated that the food isn't coming fast enough! Its worked so well from yesterday with very little spillage yay!

We were out on a picnic and at my mums so no real set meals as such...

B: rice cake with dairylea, few cucumber slices, half a banana
Brunch/lunch/picnic (spaced out over 5 hours!): Pasta w/chilli & garlic pesto, english muffins with hummus & grated cheese (about 1/3rd of a whole piece in total), innocent smoothie, small bit of veggie soup, half a slice of wheaten bread, 2 blueberries, suck of a bit of melon and half a strawberry yoghurt.
D: turkey cottage pie, few spoons of mashed potato, half a jelly thing and few slices of pear & peach to suck on

WOW! That looks like a lot now I've typed it out, didn't seem like it at the time

Mary Jo - 12 months was when we stopped offering Ruby milk mid afternoon. She now has 10-12oz a day.

Ruby had
Shreddies
2 breadsticks, rejected cheese, fruit pouch
Big portion of pasta and tomato sauce, 2 mini muffins

Ladies - can I just ask, when do you stop monitoring the amount of milk your LOs have? DD is looking to move to two BFs a day (her leading). She has milky cereal etc, but should she be offered more milk? Did you move straight to cows milk?

We went to cow's milk at 12.5 months. After a year I believe they should be offered 350ml of milk a day or be BF on demand.

She has a big wodge of that in her cereal, and if she moves to two BFs that should be ok...plus her yog.

Thanks, that's really helpful.

G dropped to 2 breastfeeds a day at about 10 months (morn & eve) he's currently dropping the am feed I think.

Bun currently breastfeeds 3-5x/day depending. He is just barely drinking water (I am trying to offer as often as possible) and the only thing he will take water from is a mini open cup. How much do your LOs drink in the day? I would like to drop to 2-3 bf during the day (we are TTC so I need AF to come back) but milk is still the only liquid Bun gets so I am nursing quite a bit! Anyone else have this problem? I am trying to offer Bun sips throughout the day! xx

I use a TT free flow as that is what G prefers (I started with an open cup but used this in the pram for tidyness!) he has 2-3 half beakers a day ( top half!)

my AF came back at 11months & I'm hoping it won't be here long!

Thanks! I will check out the TT free flow -

And good luck! Maybe we'll see each other in the 1st Tri forum soon! - hee hee :winkwink: :flower:

Sun, DD went from about five/six feeds a day to four very suddenly, and then to three very suddenly etc. Strange, as it does seem to happen over night.

She only really had a few sips of water (except when warm) and now she has half a cup at lunch and half at dinner.

She's a little older than Bun, so I'd say she was exactly the same at his age.

B - banana, shreddies
S - half humzinger (refused rest!!!!)
L - large slice of broccoli & tomato quiche, grated cheese & raw carrot mixed together - this worked well & meant he actually ate some carrot which he usually refuses. Slice of pepper
D - Ginger, lime & chilli marinated chicken (a small breast), oven chips (6-7) asparagus. Refused pepper & broccoli. Greek yoghurt with mixd berries (rasp, black, blue) half a plum.

B: scrambled egg on toast, plum compote - was quite into rubbing egg into face today
Sn: Spelt biscuit
L: chicken quesadilla with guacamole and stir fried veg, fromage frais with...stewed plums (!) Smoothie
Sn: Organix carrot puffs, dipped into philly
D: Quiche with courgette, sweet potato mash - rejected carrot and threw broccoli at cat. Plum 'crumble' with custard

There is a plum theme here...!!

thanks for the advice re amount of milk, have decided to drop the afternoon cup as of today, since he usually eats a decent amount of dairy quite apart from his 2 other cups. :)

so today Daddy has been in charge as I've been to work, and he's kept meticulous notes for me as ever.

b: whole Weetabix and 3 mini Shredded Wheat & milk, 1/2 banana
s: Humzinger, box of raisins
l: small piece of buttered baguette with Marmite, slice of ham, small piece of cheese, 15 raspberries, 5 strawberries
d: 2 fishfingers, 1/4 slice of buttered bread, 6 prunes, a cherry tomato, 2 olives, small piece of cucumber, 5 raspberries, 2 strawberries

Aww bless your OH. I wish I could count what my LO eats but if I'm not quick enough, I miss it or the dog gets the remnants.

B: ready brek
S: half a spelga yoghurt
L: shared chicken korma & rice with my OH from a local food market and quarter of a potato cake. the currey was amaaaaazing!
S: innocent smoothie (he really, really loves these - he screamed when it was finished!)
D: lasagne, oven potato chips & carrots.

Was a bit wary about the lasagne today as I've always avoided giving it. Don't know why - maybe it was that I didn't think he could handle it or the mess. But it was fantastic! He ate so much and just picked away happily in his tray. I tried not to stare too much out of the corner of my eye :) Needless to say he was still dunked in the bath after!
S: Inn

Yesterday Charlotte had

porridge with yougurt & apple
cheese omelette
shepherds pie with carrots

Br: Banana bread with plum compote, yoghurt
Sn: Home made blueberry cake (small piece!)
L: Fish pie, broccoli, courgette, fromage frais with pear
Sn: Organix carrot puffs with philly
D: Chicken, roast sweet potato wedges, courgette, smoothie stick, fruit compote and yoghurt

S: innocent smoothie (he really, really loves these - he screamed when it was finished!)

Elliott does the same thing! I now say "all gone" and make a gesture to go with it and he seems to accept it then!

Today Elliott ate-

B-Shreddies and a banana
L-Garlic bread, philli and biscuits, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, a few nibbles of sausage, plums and a taster of a danish pastry. A bit of a picnic lunch today as he went to see Nanny and Grandad with Daddy and he always has a lovely variety to try and shares everybodys
D-Grilled Chicken, part boiled potatoes, spinach and sweetcorn. Blueberries and rasperries for desert

I'm am so so pleased with how he is handling eating himself now. I'm so glad I've continued fully with BLW again after the HV's put me off. :D

Fab eating!! What did your HV say about BLW?

Fellow smoothie fans here - we have the sticks, and Elizabeth goes insane with joy when she sees them!

Thank you. I'm so proud of him :cloud9: The HV's made me keep a food diary of what he was eating. Bearing in mind he was 6 months old at the time and BLW can be slow starting. When I reported back they said he wasn't getting enough and every BLW story they knew of ended up with the child being under nourished. They used one example of a little girl who was so under nourished she had no energetic and didn't walk until they started TW. Scare tactics basically as they don't fully support it. Their tactics worked so I started a combination of BLW and SF. Elliott started rejecting the spoon and taking things out of his mouth about 5 weeks ago so I went back to what I originally wanted to do and will never look back :D

Elliott goes crazy for the Innocent Squeezies too and does his extreme hunger/"I'm never fed" noise when he sees them lol!

Unbelievable! The more I hear about HVs, the more I wonder at some of them (including my own)

Elizabeth has refused to be spoon fed for ages, sometimes she'll let us help with yoghurt and porridge, but nothing else! So what do they suggest then?!

Photo suggests Elliott is doing bloomin' well on BLW!

Oh, and I know that 'you never feed me noise', too. DH calls it the rampaging elephant noise! Soon as she sees a squeezy tube of smoothe :D
