BLW - what did your LO eat today?

B: Ready Brek & Banana
L: English Muffin toasted with philidelphia (most went on the floor I think), pear & yoghurt
D: Homemade chicken & mushroom pie (leftover chicken from Sunday's roast), mashed potatoes & peas and asparagus sticks (went down very well). He ate sooo much, I just don't know where he put it! Not even that, but it was *my* dinner grrrr! :) (Finally got him enjoying chicken too whoop!)

B - porridge
s - rasperry rice cake
L - cheese on toast

slept all morning, so no snack,
brunch at my dads, we had a fry up so she had grilled.. soda bread, potato bread, beans, half a sausage, half a slice of bacon, tomato & mushrooms!
snack in the afternoon was a slice of cheese and some raisins
dinner was chicken risotto and broccoli

Ruby had...
Breakfast - Shreddies
Lunch - Tuna and cheese on toast (full slice) a few mandarin segments
Snack - little piece of cake again!
Dinner - chunks of chicken with sweet potato falafels (she loved these, but sadly I burnt them so once I'd picked off the burnt bits there wasn't a lot left) pear and an oat biscuit

B - porridge and fruit
s - melon
l - toast, fruit spread, 2 strawberries and 4 blueberries
d - (bad day for me so made in a hurry) cheese and sweetcorn omelette with veg, mandarin orange segments and yoghurt

23oz formula too

B: Oatibix with milk, banana
L: Rice cake with cream cheese, cucumber sticks, pear
D: Pasta twirls and butterbeans with homemade tomato sauce, melon

Thomas is loving pasta twirls at the moment, he likes them quite well-cooked and wolfs them down.

Gabriella didnt eat very much at all during the day today, although she was out of sorts yesterday and today - I think she may be teething.

She doesnt eat breakfast yet. I saved some roast beef dinner from last nights tea to give her for lunch - roast beef, yorkshire pudding, carrots, broccoli, roast potato and mashed potato and she wouldnt touch it!! She was staring at my tuna and cheese toasty so I gave her some of that but she wouldnt eat that either.....She slept through tea, but was starving tonight, so at 6.45 she had - 2 full pieces of ham, 2 scotch pancakes, a whole clementine, some yellow pepper, a munch bunch yoghurt (quite a big one) and a little bit of rice cake. She certainly made up for the last 2 days - some times I just dont know where she puts it!! Shes only a small 7 month old!!

A quick question - Does anyone else's LO's gorge (SP) on anything? Gabriella absolutely loves clementines/tangerines etc, and will happily eat 2 full ones, and probably more if I offered them! She gets all excited when she sees me peeling them, and kicks her legs and blows raspberries :D I cant peel them quickly enough for her!!

xx

Adam had...
b: mini shredded wheats & milk, a banana, a nectarine
l: slice of bread with creme fraiche spread on, half a ricecake, Organix sweetcorn rings, satsuma, nectarine
d: fishfingers, baked potato, broccoli

B: Oatibix with milk, banana
L: Rice cake with cream cheese, cucumber sticks, pear
D: Pasta twirls and butterbeans with homemade tomato sauce, melon

Thomas is loving pasta twirls at the moment, he likes them quite well-cooked and wolfs them down.

I bought some big pasta fusili from sainsburys but I haven't used it yet. Pasta is one of the main food staples he has yet to have, but I'm a bit scared! Must try it this week...

No point in putting up ours today. We just had mostly leftovers, but unfortunately Culann was out of sorts today and then projectile vomitted his dinner over his daddy. He felt a bit better after though I think

Ruby had...

Shreddies
Fruit spread sarnie, organx cheese puffs, some pear, organix fruit bar (all eaten)
Mashed potato and fish fingers, and some baked beans (a large portion of all but the beans were eaten according to my mum who gave her tea today!)

Out of interest, of these foods you guys mention, how much do your LO have?

On a good day Theakston will eat 2/3rds of a slice of milk roll toast for breakfast, or half a hot cross bun, then a fruit snack with the CM mid-morning, then he'll pick at whatever he gets for lunch, nothing in the afternoon usually, and then his tea he barely touches either. On a really good day he'll help me feed him a yoghurt and volume wise that's the biggest thing he eats. Say we have spag bol or something I'll put some spoonfuls of Quorn mince on his table & some spaghetti and it all ends up on the floor, he doesn't even try to eat it. He'll have a go at my homemade chips, eat maybe one or two, but he's 11 months now and it seems like a tiny amount to eat. Now he's teething he's not eating anything.

Fortunately we still breastfeed so I know he's not going hungry but the only change he's made to those is to add a 5am one.

Any tips on encouraging him to eat more or will it come naturally and he's just a slow learner?

On a good day G eats an adult size bowl of cereal or porridge , sometimes followe by half a slice of toast or some fruit. Breakfast is always his best meal and even on a bad day he'll have half a bowl & few berries or mandarin segs

lunch varies but he will have anything from a couple of bites to 3slices of milk roll bread as sandwiches.

Tea also varies and if he has a good lunch he may have next to nothing; I tend to offer yogurtdessert as that is pretty guaranteed he eats a small adult size pot of Greek yog.

Having said all this he's refused nost food except breakfast thelast few days but he's been off colour & had a temp.

It's only the last month or so he's had so much. He still generally eats 2-3 bits of pasta then throws the rest angrily To the floor but will eat the sauce so I wonder if h doesn't like pasta. I try to include at either lunch or tea something I know he likes so at least he has aomething - usually yog, raspberries or mandarins at the mo.

The amount Gabriella eats varies quite a bit, but the best meal of the day for her is lunch - Because my little man is at school and Daddy's at work its just the 2 of us - its nice and relaxed and she doesnt have any distractions (although when I go back to work in 3 weeks, I dont know what she'll be like at nursery)

She can eat 1 1/2 slices of bread (normal sized bread), some ham/tuna/egg mayo etc, a couple of tangerines and a yoghurt. Its like an adult sized meal, but I figured if thats what she needs thats what she can have!

She doesnt eat breakfast yet as shes just not interested in it at all, so maybe she makes up for that? Also im weaning her off BM ready for my return to work, so maybe shes not taking as much formula as she did BM??

xx

the amount Adam has daily also varies, some days he'll only have a few bites of a meal, but then next day he'll gobble down pretty much everything.

breakfasts he usually has mini shredded wheats and of that, if I don't offer fruit beforehand, he'll have 12-14, which I weighed and it's 30g, so 2/3 of the portion size stated on the box. yesterday he had a whole banana before, so only had half his cereal.

fruit - he's been tending to eat the whole of what I offer, a whole banana, nectarine, pear, a couple of satsumas, a big handful of blueberries. he will usually have one whole fruit as well as his cereal or his sandwich at lunch.

lunch - a sandwich is one whole slice of bread from a fullsize sliced loaf, he usually leaves about a quarter, but if he hadn't had so much formula at the last bottle he will eat the lot. plus fruit. ricecakes are the regular adult ones, he will eat 1/2-1 at a time spread with full fat creme fraiche or, if he is ok for salt, full fat Philadelphia.

dinners - lasagne, cottage pie, pasta, etc - his serving is one non-heaped scoop from my big serving spoon (an adult portion would be two heaped scoops). along with the veg/salad, his meal will fill a side plate (not heaped up at all). of that he tends to have 70-80%. cottage pie he will finish the lot but sometimes he isn't into pasta. again it depends on how hungry he is and if he has had a late afternoon bottle. yogurt - about 2-3 tablespoons, with a small handful of berries or 4 cut up prunes.

Kitten, the quantities Ruby eats seems to be a lot less than some of the other posters in this thread. She eats about 30 Shreddies for breakfast, a whole thin slice of bread for lunch (either as a sandwich or as toast, plus topping / filling) and when she has fruit, about a handful of chunks of pear or papaya or pineapple. She often only eats about 4 mouthfuls of dinner, although since she's not having any daytime milk she is more interested in dinner most days.
There's no way she eats anything approaching adult portions (she has done once maybe?) but then why would she, she's a baby. :) I eat too much portion wise myself, always have done so never encourage Ruby to eat more.

The amount Thomas eats varies a lot from day to day too, sometimes he only has a bit of a chew on stuff and nearly everything is left on the tray/floor, other days he wolfs down everything and is looking for more.

Breakfast - on a good day he will eat about half a weetabix with milk or a very small bowl of porridge/ready brek (maybe a third of an adult portion), he will also have a piece of fruit and will usually eat all of whatever I offer - a half banana (I usually eat the other half - I think he would eat more if I offered), 1-2 satsumas, a whole pear, a whole cooked apple, an orange. But some days he isn't interested in fruit and will just have a suck on a couple of pieces.

Lunch - not always very interested. Will usually offer him one rice cake with topping or one slice of toast with topping - he will usually eat all of the topping and about half of the bread/ricecake. Sometimes he has leftovers for lunch but he rarely eats very much of them for some reason - even if he seemed to love it when we had it for dinner.

Dinner - really varies a lot. I usually offer him a side plate full of food but not heaped. Maybe about half an adult portion. Sometimes he eats pretty much all of it, other days he just sucks on stuff and plays with it and it's nearly all still there at the end of the meal. Sometimes I think it depends what we are having and how easy it is for him to manage. But I will always give him something that he can manage easily and some days he just isn't really that interested.

Re: gorging on foods - I find that can vary from day to day too - Thomas went through a phase where he couldn't get enough oranges - he would easily eat a whole big orange every day for three or four days. But then other days he isn't interested at all and will just have a bit of a suck and throw it over the side of his high chair. I am always fascinated to see what he eats each day, I do think that they eat according to their requirements so I tend to just go with what he wants.

Ruby usually grazes during the day, shes not a big breakfast eater at all, and will usually just have a light lunch, but at dinner she does eat quite a big portion most days! for example, this morning she had about 4 raisins and 3 bites of toast & peanut butter for breakfast!
I just go with her, if shes having a hungry day, i offer more, and if shes not, then i just dont stress about it anymore, I figure she knows what she needs, and shes not growing as fast anymore (thankfully!) so she doesnt need as much as she would have before now....

Mum2B-Claire - I got some humzingers yesterday in Tesco and Sophia LOVES them! So thankyou :flower:

It's funny how already they have their preferences as to when & what to eat. George loves breakfast time no matter what we offer and eats masses but the rest of the day is so much less predictable; I rarely offer his own portion at dinner just pass bits from my plate. I worry a little if he has a few "bad" days in a row as he drops weight easily and unfortunately will rarely BF in the day now; having said that when I've got worried recently he's had a couple of hungry nights to make up for it :dohh:

anyway today we tried a new breakfast as we'd run out of milk - he had rice krispies mixed with Greek yoghurt - he seemed to like it but I thought it was disgusting! He also had half a croissant with me in starbucks whilst we were shopping and a good chew on a straw (new favourite "toy" - strange child!)
