Tom is trying lots of different things and is definatly eating more now (he's 8 months) but he still doesn't actually eat very much of anything and still has 4 bottles of milk a day - he's only dropped 1 feed since we started weaning 2 months ago. My health visitor is keen for me to reduce his milk to get him to eat more but I don't want to rush him and get into battles trying to force him to take more. Plus I don't want him to start waking in the night because he's hungry.

People with older babies - when did they really start reducing their milk intake??? Should I be worried yet that he's still on 4 lots of milk at 8 months?

Ruby had only just come down to 4 bottles at 8 months. I never reduced her milk to get her eat more (she was a slow-ish starter) I reduced them when I thought she would be happy to go without them...

Mum2b_Claire - thanks so much for that. I'm hoping that the fact that he's showing more interest in food now means he's going to start eating more going forward

Adam had:

b: a Weetabix and 4 mini Shredded Wheats with milk, almost a whole peach
l: a chunk of baguette with butter and cheese, a couple of OH's chips (we had a picnic in Whitstable), raisins
d: a home-made mini quiche (made in muffin tins so really small) and a small piece of the normal quiche (broccoli & cheese with olive and tomato), a little bit of jacket potato (he's gone off these lately  ), some cucumber and tomato, raisins

Ruby won't eat jacket potatoes now either Mary Jo. However if I make hers into wedges instead, and just put the fillings on the side, she LOVES it! Weird...

:) well, I tried this, made wedges tonight and - nope. still on jacket potato strike. :dohh: guess he needs a break from them. or maybe he just wasn't so hungry because he ate quite a lot during the day...

l: 2 buttered home-made drop scones, 2 chunks of cheese, dried cranberries, prunes

L: Tin of tomato pasta kiddie's stuff (was at grannys), yoghurt, a blueberry, quarter breadstick
S: Heinz biscotti & innocent kids smoothie stick (yum! thanks for the tip, he loves these and they are surprisingly not that messy either, he ate his in his pram)
D: Green pesto pasta with tuna, tomato and sweetcorn - refused. All he would eat was sticks of cucumber and another innocent smoothie stick.

I think LO is teething again - but the back teeth this time. Are there any teething friendly finger foods?? I think the cooler, the better..

For teething, I have a friend that swears by cucumber fingers as they are juicy and cooling. I can't speak from experience as Bun still has no teeth!!

Just a question - how/when did you all introduce peanut butter? I eat tons of nuts/nut butters including peanut butter, so I think Bun has had some exposure - but there is so much buzz about waiting until 2 or 3 years that I am a bit freaked out about it. We are thinking of driving to the hospital parking lot and sharing a pb sandwich LOL...

I know about the cucumber one, but thats it! Thats pretty much all he had for dinner lol :)

Hes fussy about some fruits and doesn't eat that much anyway so thats out. I also feel a bit bad bringing back plain, boring, old cold veggies after giving him exciting things for so long ;)

We freeze banana for teething, DD loves gnawing on it (and just keep an eye on her)

Sun - could I please have your sweet pot pancake recipe? DD LOVES sweet pot!

Ok, so today...

B: dorset cereals apple porridge with banana, cinammon bread with butter
S: cup of smoothie (then demanded a BF straight after!)
L: cod in chive sauce, sweet potato mash, courgettes, yoghurt, strawberry
S: small piece of homemade flapjack
D: small piece quiche, pasta twirls, courgette, strawberry and plums. Rejected chicken and carrots (with the arm sweep of a real diva!)
