breastfed babies result in better behaved children?

We dont get any tax credit or government support. Unemployment rate is very high (I'm not talking about the UAE & the gulf region, those are rich countries & locals are supported by their govenrments). I'm talking about countries like Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, etc.

FFing is very expensive, this is why it's not so common. BFing is free & it's the norm. We dont even have BFing vs FFing arguments. NIP is not sth weird or new. A fully covered mum will BF her baby & even a toddler in public. No one will give her a second look when she's feeding in public.

Many of my friends & family members offered to BF Omar when he was tiny, & my aunt BF him few times & she offered us expressed BM. No one will critisize a mum for ffing or question her dicision.

I didnt even know there was sth called BFing vs FFing before coming to BnB xx

I think that's really nice, I wish it could be more like that here. I would love to be a wet nurse but other people I've mentioned that to say it would be really strange to feed someone elses baby  My nephew was born a few weeks early and my SIL expressed milk to tube feed him, but it dried up and by the time he was out of the hospital. My LO was born 6 weeks after him and if I had still been living in the US I would have offered to BF him, mainly because I knew he had a lot of problems and it would be the only thing I could do to help at least prevent him from getting some cold or something that could be really bad for him. I wouldn't think there's anything wrong with that at all, but I really care for my brother and would do anything for him and his family. I was even considering offering to be a surrogate for him before me and his wife got pregnant since they were having trouble conceiving.

My friend breastfed her friend's baby, and my sister breastfed my baby (not this one, but my first) when I had to go out. I don't really think it's that weird. I wish we were more open here where I am (Van Island) but, it is pretty good compared to some of the things I hear on here.

This is absolutely true, its sad but true though that formula is seen as something desirable now in some places in the middle East amongst poorer women because they think FF is something wealthy people do, I know in Saudi (which has a lot of poor people, particularly in the West) a lot of poorer women give formula for a few months probably not prepared with the cleanest water and in sterile conditions and after that cannot afford it and switch to a powdered cows milk such as Nido (made by our good friends Nestle, grr). BF is a lot more socially acceptable even in the most conservative middle eastern societies; I have seen with my own eyes women feeding in front of the main mosque in Makkah that contains the ka'aba, no-one batted an eyelid including police nearby. In Yemen and Oman they have big billboard posters promoting BF and in Yemen where most women veil fully they have TV programmes showing safe midwifery practices and show fully veiled women with a boob out breastfeeding, because it just isn't seen as indecent or exposing oneself if you're feeding a baby. Yet in this country the newspapers are full of naked and almost naked celebs and models yet an article of a woman breastfeeding her child attracts comments of it being indecent and immodest. Whats that all about?

I couldn't have said it better myself

I'd feed someone elses baby no problem. I'd find it hard to let someone else feed mine but would rather that than give them formula.

Some comments on here :nope: talk about making a mum who FF feel bad. :dohh: Like formula is some sort of poison and we are harming our children.

Yeah that's how I feel to be honest, I'd have no problem doing it for someone else, but I'd feel a bit funny them feeding my baby.

I was fine with my aunt bfing Omar, but I didnt feel comfortable when a friend offered. I was secretly happy when she tried but Omar refused it. But I was happy when he latched on & started feeding when my aunt bf him. She lives far away from our house, so I used to take him to her place once a week for bf for the 1st 6 months. He was suffering from reflux but he didnt throw up her milk. In Islam my cousins are considered his siblings as he shared milk from their mother before the age of 2 years.

If I couldn't feed my baby, I would use formula. I dont like the idea of someone else feeding my child at all. No offence. Like I said before, you cant tell the difference when the children are older. x

Im the same the thought of it makes me feel sick but I wouldn't want to feed some one else's child either. I'm sure in the playground at school thy don't discuss who was breathed I didn't have a clue If my friends were

i still find it strange that drinking human milk makes people feel sick but drinking milk for cows is ok!

Sometimes I go months without drinking milk then when I do it's so disgusting the first few days until I get used to it. I still hate the smell though
Kind of wish I could pump my own milk out to taste, the drops I've tasted so far were actually nice, kind of sweet!

I wonder if there will ever be a discussion on here when we don't have to read people using the word 'poison' in relation to FF. I haven't seen anyone say that FF is poison and have been reading from the start. Why oh why is it always brought up?

Even I've never said formula was poison, and you know what I'm like!

Kalah- yeah you could have it on cereal and not have to add sugar

That just reminded me of a silly thought I had when I first hear of extended breast feeding. I imagined a child about 7 years old at the table for breakfast and me squeezing boob milk into a bowl for cereal!!

when my big brother was at school he was 6, there was a boy in his class and his older brother who was 10.
every break time they would meet their mum at the gate and shed put her boobs thru the bars and feed the boys! now thats extreme lol
