Breastfeeding and constipation

I dont remember having this with Ewan, but this time round i am really constipated, almost worse than it was when i was pregnant!
Painful, think i have got piles too
Trying to drink loads and eat fibre but just seems to make it worse, don;t know if theres anything i can take to help it without it having an effect on Robyn.

I'm feeling the same, but never thought to link it to BF. I'm eating well and drinking lots - even eating prunes - but it doesn't seem to help....

I was/am the same. Dont know what to sugest though as you seem to be doing the right things. Watch those piles though...mine are inside but very very painful and I am having surgery soon....

My dr. said it was ok to take stool softener while bf. It sure helps me alot as going to the bathroom was more painful for awhile then my labour!

Me too! I took fibergel - the stuff you make into a drink. Thats def ok with for breastfeeding..

Stool softeners are safe... not sure if you guys need them prescribed or not. Here we do.

Make sure you are drinking lots of water.
