Ladies,

It's been a little over 4 months since I had Valerie and I have only had one period. I am not taking any birth control as far as pills or the patch goes, since I am breastfeeding. Is it normal to be this far along after giving birth and to only have had one period? I had it when Valerie was around 1 month and a half. Nothing since. Weird.

I have had nothing since after Bren was born. I am so not complaining.

Lol, I'm definitely not complaining either...I don't miss it at all!

Just makes me nervous as hubby and I are NOT trying for another child right now and not having a period makes my mind go insane.

I'm exactly the same - had one (or thought I did) when Sam was 6 weeks and nothing since. I want them back again :hissy: x

I had one for one day when Bella was exactly 3 months (which, ironically was exactly 1 year since I had one last) and I haven't had one since.

Hmm....you are all breastfeeding right? Does anyone know when our periods are supposed to come back if you are breastfeeding and not taking contraceptives? My mother told me my period will probably not return until I am done breastfeeding. Is this true?

It varies. Some people get them back a few weeks or a couple of months after giving birth, some start when their baby starts sleeping through the night or starts solids, some don't get one until they stop breastfeeding

And yes I'm breastfeeding x

alexa is a little over four months now and still no af! it is great! some breast feeding women do get it, and some do not until they are no longer bfing!

My periods were 2 1/2 months apart (breastfeeding) which consisted of 2-3 days of spotting.

...luckily we always wanted 4. Just got them all within 6 years:blush:

Introduction of solids is usually when women start noticing changes to their fertility cycle.

Baby starts sleeping through the night, and nursing less often during the day. Prolactin (milk making hormone) is an ovulation inhibitor, so the more you maintain high levels of prolactin, the likelier you are to keep :witch: at bay.

Even though you have a period, you don't necessarily ovulate.

Ive been BFing for 11 months and have had 3 periods..and they are totally random. Be happy girl! It will go back to normal when you're done BFing, assuming you had normal periods before.

LOL, I'm the opposite! 5 months since Indi was born & still no period. We want to try for another baby but if I'm not ovulating...!

I really hope I don't have to wait until Indi stops wanting to be breastfed, I'll have a very long wait!

Yep....I've breastfed 3 children and always still had my regular periods:hissy:. My friend says her periods didn't return till about 6 months after she stopped breastfeeding which is perfectly normal for some people too.

Another friend didn't have any periods while breastfeeding found out when her baby was 9months old that she was 5months pregnant:rofl:

So....you can (possibly) get pregnant whether having periods or not :dohh:
