Breastfeeding mums with more than one child: link between postpartum periods?

Hi ladies,

Just curious really. For those of you with more than one child, was there a relationship between when you got your first postpartum period? With my son my periods didn't return until 14 months. They didn't return until I completely stopped breastfeeding him at 13 months. Seeing as we're keen to be pregnant again with our last baby, I'm hoping this time my period comes back sooner, but I'm wondering if because it took so long last time, it might again? Did you find there was a link? If it took ages the first time did it take ages again the second time? Or did it come back much sooner with one child than the other?

After DD I stopped bf (actually she stopped bf) at 3 months and my period returned at 4 months. Currently I'm still bf all feeds at 8 months and my period returned at 4 months. I thought the first time wasdue to stopping bf but guess not.

Both times around 6-7 months

Both times my period returned 5-6 weeks after I gave up breastfeeding. I went onto formula with DD at 3 months and period returned at 4 and a half months pp. With DS I had to stop breast feeding at four months and period returned 5 and a half months pp x

First time period returned at 3 months pp even though she was ebf until 6-7 months when she started solids. This time ive had spotting randomly ..had a proper period 7.5 months pp. Again ebf until solids were started at about 6 months.

My first came back at 2 months but still waiting at nearly 5 months this time. Both ebf.

With Thomas is came back at 8 months (I nursed to 17 months).

With Sophie it came back at 9 months (nursed to 11 months).

Baby #1 ebf for 15mths period came back at 5mths

Baby #2 she is 8mths and still ebf and period came back last month

DS- 5 weeks
DD- 9 weeks.
EBF'ing both times.

EBFing both boys (DS1 until 17 months, DS2 currently still going past 6 months), periods both returned around 6-7 weeks and had their regular pattern right from then. :-\
