Hi ladies,

Has anyone breastfed while pregnant? How long were you able to continue?

I did it last time with my son, and he weaned himself when my pregnancy reached three months. Apparently the hormones change something in the milk that makes it unappealing. I was sad, but it was time to wean him anyways as he was 13 months old.

This time I have a younger one and it's important to me that he's breastfed until a year. Baby is due just over two months after his bday.

Any tips on how to continue? Did you find you were double exhausted having two feed off you?

My apologies if I don't reply right away. For some reason, this site won't open on my computer for days at a time. Something is wrong with my internet.

Hi there I have breastfed through two pregnancies. I did have some aversion but powered through and continued then tandem feeding once the new baby arrived. I think its a personal journey, good luck x

I breastfed through pregnancy as well, son is almost 17 months old. I had terrible aversion the last few weeks but muddled through it.
It wasn't easy but for me personally I wanted to try as I love the bond I have with DS. I had my daughter almost a week ago and the aversion is gone; sometimes I feed them together and they bond as well! Good luck!

I breastfed through pregnancy and the nursing aversion was horrible but I did my best to distract myself and to get through it. My milk supply dried up during the second trimester but she continued to just dry nurse at night until the supply returned again.

Did everyone here lose their supply at some point during their pregnancy?

I'm feeding my 14 month old, but only once or twice a day. Definitely think I've almost completely dried up.

I've noticed a decrease in supply since getting my BFP. I've been trying to drink more water, take in more calories, and also drinking a mother's milk tea to try to boost supply. My baby is still quite little, we're definitely not ready to wean.

Thank you ladies for mentioning that you had an aversion for a little while. It's good to know what to expect and know that it's normal. I'll just have to power through it.

I breastfed through my second pregnancy. My milk started diminishing around 16 weeks, was gone by 20, but started getting colostrum around 24 weeks. Still tandem nurse.

I just found out you're not supposed to drink mother's milk tea when pregnant, so I won't be drinking that anymore.

I'm 13 weeks now and my milk is pretty much completely gone. My daughter (now 9.5 months) has always been a fussy nurser and when I hit about 11 weeks and couldn't get a let down anymore, that was it for her. I was terribly sad about it for awhile, mostly because this was a surprise pregnancy and I had really hoped to get her to a year old, at least. But I'm less devastated now. She is just fine with bottles and doesn't seem to miss it at all. I will always cherish that bonding time we had, but nursing through pregnancy isn't for everyone. Props to those of you that have done it, though! I'm jealous!

This is good advice for me, thank you! Would really like another but also want to BF for a year if possible and not have a pg interfere. My cycle hasn't come back yet which is good (for now!).

I am 7 weeks pregnant with twins!! but I also still breastfeed my daughter who is 2 and a half. I just dont know how to stop as its how she falls asleep and when i have tried she has been hysterically upset :-/ but now I am pregnant with twins and feeling so rough and also there is no way I can feed her when the babies are here as I dont have 3 boobs!! hoping she self weans when the milk changes

DD was a year old when I found out I was pregnant again and she fed throughout the pregnancy . I admit I found the aversion awful but I was pretty determined and managed to power through. I never had much pain which some struggle with. I did end up cutting back on feeds as she was a super frequent feeder and I decided to night wean. By the end of the pregnancy she wasn't feeding every day. She fed once after my milk came in. Said how yummy it was and to my surprise never fed again, saying the milk was for the baby now!

I hot pregnant again when DS was 8 months but sadly lost that pregnancy at 10 weeks. When I got pregnant again DS was 14 months and stopped just before my bfp, I think he might have known I was pregnant before I did, lol. I don't regret feeding DD throufh pregnancy but I admit I was a bit relieved that DS stopped on his own I hadn't decided yet if I was going to do it continue in that pregnancy.

I think most women loose most of their milk at some point during pregnancy and lot of babies will decide to wean themselves because of the lack of milk or the taste. I think younger babies are more likely to stick it out but you never really know until you try. Honestly I think it is something you just have to take one day at a time. Don't beat yourself up about it if you stop but try not to panic about all the possibilities as its something that is different for everyone.
