Hi girls, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I found out I was pregnant a week ago and since then I have had brown spotting, not enough to mark underwear it's only when I wipe. I had hcg levels taken Monday they were around 60 and 2 days later they were only 98!!!! Dr said I'll most likely miscarry but she wants more blood tests done on Monday if nothings happened since then... I've done the 'google search' and a lot of the info coming up points to ectopic !!!! I guess the other reason I'm concerned about this is I actually took the morning after pill 5 hours after DH and I had sex and I'm now freaking out it could be ectopic!!! Brown spotting actually seems to be going away too

well i am not sure about ur situation but brown spotting happened to me as well in my second pregnancy and i miscarried at 7 weeks...as far as i know brown spotting indicates dying fetus but i may be wrong...all the best

Brown spotting usually signals old blood. But, with you having the morning after pill, you should probably notify your doctor about that!

not posting this to scare you, i had a ectopic last year that burst, my signs were brown spotting/ brown blood.. preg test never getting darker staying quite faint... i had no other signs till the night before and morning it ruptured.

i never had any red bleeding and i did not feel pregnant.

if u start to get any pains i would go straight back to hospital,
But dont panic as everyone is diffrent, and what happened with me does not mean it will with you. xx

Thanks hun, my pregnancy tests are actually REALLY dark and come up straight away! The brown spotting seems to be going away so I'm really confused! I'm also super scared of an ectopic so I'll def head straight to ER at the first sign of intense pain!!!!

Thanks for all you input :hugs:

First off brown spotting is normal. Its crazy to say its from a dying fetus. Thats very misleading and incorrect. Second i am sorry you are going through this. While i am very pro life i dont understand the morning after pill and how it works. I will just keep off that topic all together. It also depends on what time of day the blood was taken. If it were later in the evening for the first draw and in the morning for the second draw it wouldnt have doubled yet. So i hope the baby is fine.

I too am very pro life, now baby is here there is no question, I of course would have it! morning after pill is just supposed to prevent pregnancy in the first place by changing the lining of the uterus so that the egg can't 'stick'... Brown spotting has stopped, boobs are killing me and I'm exhausted so I too am really hoping baby is ok!!! Going for another blood test Monday so fingers crossed! This will be my lil miracle baby if all good!

i have to say, sorry if you dis agree but brown bleeding is NOT normal no bleeding is but not all bleeding is a sign of it all going wrong... since i nearly lost my life to listening to people say brown blood is normal and ok cos its old blood i will always now advise anyone to double check any brown blood and dont ignore it. i did ignore it and i lost my tube and was rushed into surgery... and brown blood was the only sign i had till the day it burst...

Op- i am glad things are looking up for you and even more pleased your test are dark :) hope things carry on well and you can relax soon xx

Id go to a&e, they should scan you and at least see if the baby is in womb/tube. I was very worried about ectopic due to pains in one side, got scanned a few days ago and everything was perfect.. i have never had hcg levels taken but have heard of low levels ending with perfect babies. Ive also heard of many people spotting and everything was fine too. Its usually bright red blood you need to worry about, although im sure brown is just as scary. Also if you have bad cramping. Good luck and i hope everything is ok:hugs:.

Thanks, I totally agree I think all blood can be serious OR not, I don't necessarily think just because it's brown it's all ok... Do you mind me asking how long your brown spotting carried on before your tube burst?

Hi Ladies,

As soon as I had brown spotting with my first I went to the hospital, they did an internal scan and PG was in the right place. The doctor said that spotting in pregnancy is not normal, no bleeding in pregnancy is normal and should always be checked out but it doesn't mean anything is wrong. I now have a beautiful 2 year old. Obviously bright red spotting is more of an issue..

I just took a PG test yesterday, and I got bfp, but it was very faint, and I too don't feel pregnant. I have pain that comes and goes.. Not bad pain but more on the right side. Has anyone else experienced this? I seem to remember it being more on the left side with my first.. I'll take another test tomorrow and make sure it's going darker.

X

Hey. mine was about three weeks before it burst, i had no idea, i had no pain what so ever till the day it burst, as soon as i found out i was pregnant i just kept having this brown like mud bleeding on and off, some days nothing.... the scary thing for me is that cos i had no other symtoms i ignored it... even the day it burst i did not know what it was and i actually posted in the forums here asking for advice as my pain was getting worse... i only went to the hospital are reading online about ectopic but it mentioned sholder pain, and i did not have that so i thought i had trapped wind or something but then as i layed down the sholder pain started!! so off i went lol.... i never want to scare anyone but it worries me so much seeing people say brown blood is nothing to worry about cos i used to think that and ignored it, one of the symptoms with ectopic is a prune juice looking discharge, spotting... so no one should think its ok, and its always safer to get checked out then ignore it xxx

sorry for long reply lol

Hi Zimababy
During my 2nd pregnancy at 12wks, I experienced stringy brown spotting that carried on for two days, before it turned into bright red blood and clotting on the third day. Which ended in MC.
My 1st pregnancy also ended in a MC, with no warning just severe cramping and bright red blood out of nowhere. With the 1st MC, my hcg level was 33 when I went to the hosp and I was 5wks3d, and it should have been more like 127,000.

Brown spotting 'can be normal', even my mother said she had it while pregnant with me. Hopefully you receive good news tomorrow and your hcg levels have drastically increased! IF not, and you suspect ectopic, its VERY good to discover this early before the fallopian tube ruptures.

Do you have any severe abdo pain with the spotting hun? Have the dr's asked for you to have a scan?

I had an ectopic and surgery to remove at 7 weeks 5 days before that I was having a blood test one day scan the next for a week and half before they worked out what was wrong as my HCG were going up but not doubling and with spotting too. So if you're concerned and they've not asked you to have a scan ask for one to be safe!

I hope it all works out for you hun, rest as much as you can until you know where you stand x

Thanks hun, it's pretty scary and something (for some strange reason) I've always been scared of so I'm def on top of it! Dr has given me a referral for a scan so when she calls tomorrow to give me the results of hcg I'll have a chat about going for the scan ASAP (that's if hcg is still rising but not as it should be).... Xxx

Misspeaches: no I haven't had any abdo pain but I've also read that can be normal too, some people have no pain until tube has ruptured! Ahhh isn't pregnancy supposed to be this joyus, wonderful experience!? It's so STRESSFUL!!!! And def no easier 2nd time round :dohh:

You're right there it's far too stressful considering it should be full of smiles and happiness.

If you're having no abdo pain atm that's a good sign it's not ectopic you wouldn't get cronic pain until it was close to rupture but as it got bigger you'd have period like cramping fingers crossed you never have to experience any of that though hunni. Stay positive and rest where you can. Fingers crossed your HCG has a big rise now and the scan shows you got the all clear x

yea i had no pain AT ALL till the day it burst.... i never had blood tests as i went for a scan and i got told there was no sign of pregnancy i got told it could be too early, but cos of the brown blood i assumed it was miscarrage, never thought it would ectopic.... the preg tests i had were a good sign for me as they were very light and never got darker... but i have heard so many people storys and some peoples seems so like an ectopic but turn out to be nothing, and nothing can turn into a ectopic so its just so scary lol... pregnancy will never be easy eh!! lol

mine was a experence that trumatised me for a long time with how close to dying i was as i was so close to not going hospital and i inform people now not to scare but i would hate for anyone to go through what i did... x

misspeaches.... i am one day behind you, i am due jan 12th lol

Hi I had an etopic 7 weeks ago and I'd get it checked cause I had no signs at all apart from low hcg levels and pink smears when I wiped and only twice but my tube had ruptured and I lost it I think it's alot better to br safe I felt really silly when I went but it was very serious
