Budgeting... How much formula will I use?

Hiya,

I'm a bit at a loss and I'm hoping you experienced Mum's can help me.

Roughly (I know this will change and is dependent on baby) but really rough guide based on an newborn of average size...how much formula will I use in a day/week. I want to know how much extra to budget into my shopping money and I want to start buying up wipes etc as soon as but the only amount I can't seem to get a grip on is how much the formula will cost me?

Can anyone help?

i go through a tin a week i make up 5-6oz bottles and 1-4oz a day and i make up more bottles so i can go through the night and morning,
so that £7.80

and i go through a pack of size2 pampers nappies

so roughly £13 a week.

Yeah I'd say about a tin a week, I remember asking this hehe

Nappies - anything between 5 and 10 a day! (she likes to mini poo constantly) never thought id change her 10 times!

Wow! It costs me like $30 a week to buy a tin of formula! I know that pounds and dollars aren't the same but I don't think the difference is that much. for 44 Size 1 diapers (pampers) it's like...$25+

About a tin a week here too. Nappies I change about 6 times a day depending on how her nappy feels. I always change it when it feels it needs doing and never let it go more than 4 hourly except over night.

me too, my formula costs £7.20 (sma gold) and i just get the nappies as and when there on offer, I wouldnt buy too much in advance of either of those though as the milk you choose may disagree with the baby and they grow out of nappies soo quick xx

I spend about £15 a week on formula but i use the ready made one.

If your trying to budget the best things i find to stock up on are wipes, catch them when they are offer for £1 a pack, or they have offers on on the big multipacks.

Nappy wise ... when you get LO weighed, and notice a pattern forming ... say they put on 1lb per month, take that into account and stock up on nappies that way. You'll find that you wont end up buying too many and wasting them

Thanks everyone. I'm just trying to get an idea of how much money we'll need each week.

We're not planning on stocking up on either nappies or formula tbh just in case we have problems so we'll probably buy enough to last us 1 week in advance.

I was in boots today and they had the sensitive wipes (Hubby has really sensitive skin so mainly for him really!) on 4 for £3! Most upset that I didn't have the money!!

We use liquid concentrate, don't think you guys have it from what one person told me... works out to about $90/month
