Finally narrowed down double buggies!!

I have a son who will be 16 months old when baby 2 arrives so have been researching my doubles.

As we live deep in the countryside in the UK a tandem is the best bet as a lot of the stores have traditional small doorways so I wouldn't get around with a side by side.

Anyway I'm rambling.... I've narrowed it down to the baby jogger city select as it has so many options but the weight is off putting it ways quite a bit with just my son in and it feels really long. However as I say has lots of seat options and a huge shopping basket for when we're out. The sun canopies are also huge and have a 50+ spf. So as you can see I'm on the fence.

The Icandy.... There is virtually no basket with the seats on and no room to hang a bag on, which isn't great for two kids. The seats feel smaller however the hoods do move up so gives more height. But on up side you don't feel like you have any children in the buggy as it's so light to push. The seats are lovely and padded and the seats have more space between then than they look.

Does anyone have these buggies and can you rate or review them?? Xxx

We looked at the City Select, Britax BReady, and the Uppababy Vista and decided on either the Britax B Ready, or (if we can afford the newly updated 2015) Uppababy Vista- it's truly the Cadillac of double/triple convertable strollers. My gf got the City select and not only is it heavier than the Britax but it's wheelbase is longer making it perform like a long haul truck around corners. It was not pretty to watch her wheel around 2 toddlers! The Britax and uppababy are both less weight and a nice tight wheelbase, they both close easily with 2 seats in the stroller and they have multiple options of having the kids face to you or outward. They both have hitch hiker skate boards that you can attach for when one child grows up or prefers to get a tow on the buggie rather than ride. The uppababy comes with a bassinette and cup holder, is easier to wheel around, and has no-flats foam wheels, and has a much larger storage area underneath than most others.

I know there may be a slight difference in the names of these products in Britain but I'm pretty sure you have the equivalent as I've heard the British ladies talk positively on B&B about the Britax BReady.

Yeah I had a Britax originally with my son had lots of problems. Think I was unlucky though my friend had a Britax she loved!! And still loves. So I'm still happy to tryout our. I will look into it thanks for the tip :-D

My friend had a city select for her two with similar age gap to yours. She loved it, very versatile with seat settings and easy to use. I have the city mini (had double and now got single) and I love that. Think baby jogger make good sturdy pushchairs and I could even push the double one handed.

My friend had a peach for her two (2 yr age gap) and she hated it. Major faff and bulky to fold and put in boot and when I pushed it for her it was horrendously heavy compared to my Phil and ted (heavy frame but a dream to push).

List what you require from it such as ease of folding and seat arrangement and basket size and compare the two. Ideally go along to a shop with a friends children and get then to sit in it and try pushing it too

Thanks for the advice :-D I have a city jogger mini gt which I love. Brilliant buggy! Hence why I've been looking at the select.

Phil and teds have a sale on there website at the moment, a friends had one years and is finally replacing it for a new one this year. She loves it!!

So confused haha

It is confusing isn't it! With my first two I had prams I didn't want when they were newborn and I really regretted not going for one I actually liked but then with this one I am now greatly restricted as apart from wanting it to look modern and be practical it also has to fit in boot of my small hatch! Babystyle was only one in my price range which does everything I need and looks good so I'm relieved though if I had a bigger boot I'd probably have gone for something else. I still wasn't 100% settled on babystyle but I decided to bid on a bargain one and won auction...I now feel I can close the buggy chapter...lol

I've still got loads of time to decide lol but I thought single buggies were a minefield. Doubles are worse xx

Yep! You've gotta think of things like ease of collapsing it cos trust me when you have a difficult toddler and screaming baby at the same time you just want to get the heck out of there in your car! Mind you, if you mainly walk and can put buggy in house without collapsing it then that's probably not an issue for you

Other big things are definitely storage space and weight when pushing. I'd want to be able to push one handed as many times my eldest wanted to walk beside me so I had to hold her hand and push at same time

It's true I'm trying to take it all into consideration. But it's still impossible to choose I thought I'd picked almost now I've got more ideas lol

I got the city select when I had ds1 and dd was 2. I absolutely love it. It maneuvers really well, and I don't even notice the weight. I had a c-section with both kids and lifting it was not an issue.

Features I love:
Narrow enough for doorways and aisles.
Customizable: kids can face me/forward/each other
canopy size is great for the sun and heat where we live
Snack trays are a nice size and hold most sippy cups
Extending handle is good for the height difference bw me and DH
Storage basket is huge- I put groceries in there so I don't need a cart
The stadium seating is great- everyone gets a view

Features I wish could be different:
I wish it could stow away without removing seats
Maybe a different type of car seat adapter? (It held our seat very securely, but I still wish it was more secure)
DH says he wishes the handle came up a tad higher

I really wish I'd gotten this stroller with our first baby. I really love it. The length does take a little adjustment, but now I don't even notice it. Now that we're expecting #3, we bought the glider board so dd can ride along with the other kids.

Thank you for the info :-D that really helps xxx

Oh- and if you do end up buying a City Select, get a Britax parent console. It was recommended to us, and has two cup holders and a large center compartment where I toss keys, toys, etc. I believe the baby jogger one only has one cup holder and is a tad pricier.

Ahhh thanks for the tip, did not know they fit the frame but that's fantastic.... I'm starting to lean towards it as children seem to have more room in it between seats :-D

Xxxx
