 Hello all, gosh it's a bit quiet in here! Where are all you lovely ladies?!

I'm here and listening, just not writing anything, as am super busy trying to get together a tender for a new contract. Oh my, I've never done a tender, so I have no idea how to do it, but I would sooooo love this project, so I just hope I do it OK.

Off to baby yoga in a bit. Let's hope Monty doesn't head dive and make his lip bleed this week :dohh:

Good luck with the tender :flower: & have fun at baby yoga :D

I'm here too- just having computer issues. Seems that my one month old netbook's wireless adapter has decided to crap out on me so atm I have to actually use a cable to connect (feels like the dark ages, lol) and sit at the computer desk. Grr...

Not too much going on here though. I think we might go out and play in the pool in a bit.

hope everyone is well :hugs:

Hi all im semi here just keep nodding off. Im so tired its unreal.

Hope the tender goes well colsy, makes me wonder what we all did/do as work.

Noah has been standing all day he doesnt want to sit at all.

Last job was billing and customer service dept for a telecom/media company but I've got degrees in molecular genetics and education (and qualifications for special ed)- making good use of my education :haha:

oooh Kaites the degree sound good, ive got a degree in Human biology and infectious diseases (worked for ambulance service while I studied) and now I work for the MOJ (work in fines in court).

Colsy I want your job!

I work as a secretary at Huddersfield University. I also study there part time, 'Educational Administration', this will be my last year starting September. Before that I worked as a supervisor at Pets at Home for a couple of years (pretty proud as I started as a p/t cashier!) My first job before that was as a casual library assistant at an Education library, which is just for schools so it had books and museum items too.

Some great sounding degrees there as well Kaites and Maffie!

Book publishing and technical editing, plus a bit of writing. Anybody else?

I work for an export company, been there 13 yrs almost, but got my sights firmly set on getting my studying done and going to uni to do nursing then to work in SCBU :)

Well not posted in a little while but sam now has 3 teeth and two more just about poking through! I knew they'd all come through together. He's now crawling everywhere and pulls himself up and walks along anything he can get his hands on. I gave him spaghetti bolognese tonight that i made, i put pics on FB for anyone who wants to look at the state of him lol

What's with all these bio science girls? I'm pharmacology.

I work in Applied Sciences but thats as far as it goes

Colsy- I also worked in publishing for a few years :) it was the sales side of things though (Science, math and engineering rep for the publishing company's higher ed division).

Seems like we have a well educated bunch here! :)

Do you guys ever make guesses as to what profession your LO is going to take up? atm we are guessing that Emma is going to be a dentist since she loves trying to poke her fingers around in people's mouths (gross, I know ).

I can only hope she knows what she wants to do! That was / is always my problem. I wish I had a proper calling. I will try help her explore lots of different things so she can do something she really loves.

I did a politics degree before doing the necessary professional qualifications to become a solicitor.

I love how none of us are working in jobs that we actually got our degrees/studies in!!!!

I did clinical psychology for my degree (specialising in clinical health & biological phsychiatry).... I worked a ton of shop jobs from the age of 17-24, then worked for HSBC as a graduate job, which I hated beyond belief... Then kinda ended up by accident working with social services as a residential support worker for young adults with severe autism, challenging behaviour & learning difficulties... Got beat up a lot, taken advtantage of & was emotionally wrekced at the last place I worked in, so switched to the private sector feb 2009 & it's wayyyyyyyy better. I am still employed as relief/bank staff there, but wont be doing full time anymore, lol, coz the hours suck arse. I guess it's very loosely related to my degree, but annoyingly, I would actually earn more if I'd just left school at 16 & done an NVQ in H&S care! :dohh:
One day I will get off my butt & finish my MSc (research methods) & get a 'real' job!!!!

I think it often happens that people end up in jobs not related to their qualifications. I might end up studying again in the future.

Well Noah pretty much slept through but he's woken with a bad cough and cold and gunky eyes. He still seems pretty happy though.

I still haven't heard any objections to when I want to return to work in fact after the initial contact they haven't bothered again

Well Noah pretty much slept through

Same for Monty last night - woke for feed at 11.45pm and then went through (with some minor awakenings, which we didn't respond to) til about 5.45am.

Happy Nine Months Monty :happydance:

It's kind of scary how are LO's are nearing the 'double figure' ages in months so soon!

Graduation today, windy and raining. Lol, why did they ever change the ceremonies to July, they used to be in November and it was guaranteed dry weather then!

Maffie: Hope Noah gets better soon, glad he seems okay otherwise though :flower:
