Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Well, it was an interesting trip to the doctors... The doctor is not convinced that it is food related and feels that it's post traumatic stress from the hospitalization experience at xmas. Part of me is super annoyed because she does have some eczema, the nightwaking with wind and what appears to be stomach pain BUT the other half of me is also sort of relieved that someone does recognize that the whole hospital ordeal was horrible for Emma too. There is definitely some merit to the PTSD theory- Emma immediately went into a complete terror freak-out the minute we walked through the office doors. So much so that she was actually running a temperature over over a 100^F within less than 5 minutes of being in the same room as the doctor. Our house is only a 5 min drive away and I took her temp as soon as we walked back in the door and she was back to being bang on normal. Either way, I'm keeping a food diary (already sort of do because of obsessive daycare menu planning, lol) so that I can see if there are some nights that are worse than others re: foods. Emma was in such a state that she couldn't get any jabs or bloodwork done (couldn't even weigh her for that matter) so we're back in 2 weeks time. Of course, if today was anything to go by, then we won't be accomplishing a whole lot then either.

I do feel like less of a shit parent though- the doctor recommended co-sleeping (already doing that) and said that she didn't think Emma was anemic anymore from seeing her and hearing about her development, etc. Hubby had actually read about the PTSD being a common thing with Kawaski Disease but we had never considered that it might be a possiblility because Emma's always been such a terrible sleeper.

Anyway, now I'm rambling so that's my cue to get off the computer :) Hope everyone is having a good evening :hugs:

Kaites: :hugs: Don't be so hard on yourself, you have and are doing so much for Emma to comfort her and sort out this problem :hugs: Glad the doctors recognised there was something and sounds good about her anemia  You would of thought PTSD affected her whole behaviour, such as during the day and not just nights, its completely understandable something like that wasn't considered. :hugs: Your a very good mummy :hugs:

Kaites, :hugs::hugs::hugs: I'm sorry I can't impart any useful advice right now. I just know that you're not a shit mum by any stretch of the imagination. I also know what it's like when you have a night like you've described - and I know that it makes you think all sorts of silly thoughts that you may not otherwise think. Hang on in there, keep up the fab job you're doing, and have faith that somehow, quite soon, you (perhaps with the help of the doctor) will work out what the problem is. Good luck and lots of :hugs: And I hope the next night is a better one for you. xxx

Katies- Don't you dare be hard on yourself :hugs::hugs:
Trust your own instincts not the docs, they can be so wrong sometimes.
I would carry on with taking sals out her diet and would try her with no dairy for a while see how you get on. Hope you get some answers soon you know where i am if you need anything :hugs:
Kte- You feeling any better now? :hugs:
Chaos- Didn't know your dd had milk and soya allergy? Do you find it harder as she's getting older?

Mumof4 - was just popping on to post. Called the GP's today and need to call back tomorrow for the 8.30 rush to make an appointment. The receptionist checked to see if she could give me my results. She said my Liver was okay but *something or other* (didn't catch the medical jargon) came back with raised protein levels. So bascially the GP does want me in to discuss it.

Thanks ladies :flower: Last night was both better and worse- she slept for longer stretches at a time (I got more than 2 hours sleep :happydance:) but when she did wake up, she was a lot more upset and it took longer to snap her out of it. Hard to say if it was just the doctor's visit stressing her out because I didn't cut any foods out yesterday either but she was afraid of hubby washing her hair in the bath last night too.

Kte- I guess it does affect her daytime behaviour a bit- the extreme fear of her uncles and any male strangers that come in the house probably have something to do with it. She had shy moments to begin with but I wonder if the hospital stay just happened at the wrong time and maybe that's why she hasn't snapped out of it  I hope your doctor's appt goes well and that you get some answers :hugs:

Anyway, Emma is now sitting here on my knee waiting for her turn to bash on the keyboard so I better run. Hopeeveryoneis having a good day :hugs:

Kaites ~ Its tough, but you are NOT a shit mum, you're doing very thing you can .. none of this is your fault..

At about 7 months she started getting horrid shitty nappies .. if it could be classed as that, she basically pee'd out her butt about 12 times a day, her had horrific rashes that would just bleed (on her butt), she got eczema and was just generally unsettled. It went on for MONTHS, then finally the Dr told us to go off cows milk. We did .. totally ... I mean studying labels and everything, not even and kind of milk and with in a week all the rashes cleared up, the poop stopped and she started sleeping thru the night again.

Then she started getting an allergy to the soy formula, so we had to cut out all soy.

I'm kinda used to it now so it's not really an effort to avoid milk, it's annoying more than anything cause there's freaking cheese on everything lol (and she LOVES cheese!)

I guess I passed along my bad guts to her (I have IBS)

Adi is same but his is from Birth, even had to stop breast feeding him because it was that bad. I'm finding it alot harder now as i'm having to cut other things out of his diet as well as he is reacting to these.
Have you tried the alternative chesse out health shop? x

Evening all  crap day here, cant go into it all again the ladies on fb propbably sick of me ranting

:hugs: Fraggles :hugs: I seriously am hoping the 'bugger -it-up fairy' leaves you well alone and some goodness comes your way :hugs:

I called the docs this am and have managed to get in at 5pm :happydance: She suggested 11 but I went into work as I have no holidays or flexi time to chance not getting into work and they don't class these kind of appointments as sick unless you end up having 'x' amount of consecutive appointments.

Chloe was in tears again when I left her this morning. Really not sure what has gotten into her, she hasn't really been botherd up until late and now she is doing the crying when we leave her routine. I guess she is just becoming more aware?

Hope the appointment goes well Kte. We get crying if someone leaves the house im wondering if its an age/developmental thing

Baby cried pretty much 11 hours yesterday so im hoping for a better day today.

Happy Wednesday- 2 work days til the long weekend!

We had a much better night last night- I think Emma woke twice and it was only the first time that there were tears. I just hope that I can get her to sleep-in a bit today since she's so overtired and irritable from the last few days. I'm still keeping a food diary, but now I'm reading up more on Kawasaki Disease and it's after-effects (the doc appt got me thinking about the KD). It never occured to me that the KD could be causing some of this since they weren't 100% sure it was KD that she had and they told us that with the KD treatment, there would be a tiny percentage of heart problems. What the doctors didn't tell us is that there seems to be other non-heart related problems that can occur- seems like it's still mostly just anectdotal evidence and that it hasn't really been studied much but arthritis, joint pain, headaches and stomach aches are all fairly common complaints soooooooo maybe that's what is also causing her to look like she's is in stomach pain?!?! It might be a long shot, but it's something else for me to mention to the doctor in a couple weeks time.

Fraggles- massive :hugs: Must be hard if there is other stuff going on in life AND you have a baby who is having a crying day too :hugs:

Kte- I hope the appt goes well today :flower: I think it must be a stage- one of Emma's little friends is going through a rough patch of separation anxiety and another one is a whole lot more sensitive lately too.

Hope everyone is having a good day :hugs:

Evening ladies, a quick one from me I am shattered but have the bunny costume to make for tomorrow!

Went to the docs, apparently the test showed I have higher than average c-reactive protein - its not really much clearer than that, it could be a number of things, possibly a virus but its can be related to anything. The doc has sent me for a re-test of my bloods just in case it comes back differently. Apparently the norm is 10 and I was 28. Plus having some virus tests done on it but the earlies appointment I could get is another two weeks. In the meantime I can take multi vitamins to see if they give me a boost. Its kind of upsetting really as I would like to know a bit more and actually feel better and the thought of going on for at least another month like this, its a bit hard to take. Fed up of feeling so exhausted all the time with no real reason.

Anyway, moan over, chocolate time and a bunny-making here I come!

:hugs: all :flower:

Sending you loads of :hugs: Kte!

Must be hard not knowing what the cause of it is. At least having the elevated CRPs tells the doctor that there is some kind of virus/inflammation to investigate, kinda like proof that there is something really going on. I think I remember reading that around that level is normal when the body is fighting off viruses/has mild inflammation (I was actually reading about CRP today as I went through Emma's discharge papers from December- hers were 251 at discharge ).

I hope you start to feel better soon and that it doesn't take much longer to get to the bottom of things! Good luck with bunny costume making too :)

Fraggles: Hope you have a better day with J :hugs:

Thanks Kaites. Wow 251! The doctor was telling me that if people get something like pneumonia it's in the 100s but I think your right, it's more a sign of something is going on but the actual thing itself isn't a problem, they were obviously happy that even though Emma's was so high, they could let her out. I'm guess I am just hoping to find out sooner rather than later but then I think my body is okay with having bloods and samples taken after being pregnant!

Feeling better about it all this morning! I'm really tired but I have a reason today lol I have popped it on FB too but for those who aren't on mine (you can add me if you want) here is the Bunny costume :D I was up until 1am last night making it, started at about 8.30 but I don't have a sewing machiene so it's all hand stitched and I am quite excited with my creation, I'm generally rubbish at sewing as mentioned lol

awwww kte good job on the costume.

Im good tired bt good  J decided he was seeing 4am this morning I think the heat made him wake for a feed.

No plans for today other than sorting some stuff to sell, some parcels to pack and need to erect the playpen and fill with balls. Although I can spy out the corner of my eye a massive sack of balls has just been uptipped onto the floor :dohh:

Hello ladies.

How you all doing?

Kte - Hope you are ok? Hope it will be sort out soon for you.

We are having my sister in law staying for 2 days then all of us go down together to Birmingham for the weekend. Billy love to have his auntie around because they can talk easy! :)

This morning, Billy will be having his bath before his appt to have his hair cut again! Waiting for sis in law to finish the bathroom.

Then later in the evening we are going to chinese for dinner! Yay!

Well, have a lovely day and lovely weekend ladies and might be not on over the weekend.

Speak later xxx

Morning ladies!

Another long night here :coffee: At least tomorrow is a holiday... I did sleep in a tiny bit this morning- only because Emma was ready to start the day at 5am and I wasn't prepared for her to be up so early, so I stayed in bed with her and she eventually got the idea and went back to sleep. She nearly fell asleep in the booster seat at lunchtime so I'm trying to avoid that again today.

Kte- That's an awesome bunny costume! Great job!

Fraggles- Balls in the pack in play is a great idea  We have a ball pit in the basement lounge but it's inflatable so I'm expecting that either Emma or the cat will eventually destroy it so that sounds like a good way to get a bit more life out of a pack n play :)

nanaki- Hope you have a good weekend with your SIL :flower:

So anyone have any special plans for Easter? Not too much for us- my brother bought a house so we're helping him move on Saturday (supposed to pour rain- ~35mm- so that will be a pain) and we're having Easter dinner at our house on Sunday. I'm guessing that I should probably clean the house a bit on Friday in preparation for the in-laws coming on Sunday too- blah...

i just bought 2 ball pools a dinosaur and a fartm mission to blow one up tonight

Have had some brilliant days and some crap days this week. Too tired to tell the tales now, but can I just ask you all something: How exactly do you put your toddlers to bed at night? And do you walk away to them screaming or cooing cutely? And if they cry when previously they slept OK, do you still walk away anyway?

Oh, and there's more: How do you do it at other people's houses/holidays etc.?

And one more: Do they play up in terms of bed and sleep in the days after you get back from trips away?

Sorry for all the Qs when I haven't been on for a few days. Not been online for a few and now I only have a couple of mins so wanted to rush and ask before I forget.

Thinking of you all. I may not be on here again now til Tues or Weds as OH working a lot so I won't be in the office much, if at all. But I'll catch up next week :flower:
