Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Maffie ~ we got given 2 travel cots and we found the Gracco one to be really good for things like weight, storage and easy to fold out and pack up again :)

Chaos ~ no AF for me yet but I am thinking it may be soon-ish as I am no longer BF or expressing and haven't been for a while and my blood loss has pretty much gone now.

Kaites ~ hope you find a car seat to fit

Aimee ~ Earl looks very dapper in his outfit! :D

Colsy ~ Chloe isn't like that but I have spoken to people where their babies had been. Really hope he settles soon for you :flower:

We are really lucky as all the outfits for Chloe were gifts, although we did buy her some trousers / little jeans and tights as its a bot cold out there to be in just dresses! She is in a babygrow today tho, depends what we are doing or who she is off to visit! I am half dressed too, best go finish off before the fire ppl get here!

To the poor parents out there who have colicky babies, check out my new thread here if you're keen to know how to establish a routine in a baby with colic (not that I have a clue, but I'm hoping somebody does!) https://www.babyandbump.com/baby-cl...outine-impossible-baby-colic.html#post3700032

hey all, I'm back from Norfolk now & have my lovely internet connection back, lol. Was starting to get withdrawal!!!

Have just spent ages catching up on everything, but all the posts seem to have merged, sorry!

Congrats on everyone reaching age/feeding/routine/weight milestones. :)
:hugs: to those who have colicy babies & sleepless nights; i hope things settle down soon for you.
great pics & videos too for those of you who posted them :)

We had a great week up in Norfolk seeing my family. He has now mets all my grandparents, aunties, uncles & most of my cousins, as well as my 2 best friends.... yet my idiot brother who lives a whole 5 minute ferry ride acorss the water from me has still not bothered to come meet his newest nephew... he didn'[t even send a text or call to congratulate us. Am I wrong to feel so angry at him??? I keep sending him messages on his facebook, but he just says he's busy working... so I said i'd come to him during a lunch break & that was 2 weeks ago & never even replied to the message. I feel really hurt...
anyway, on brighter notes, harry turns 8 weeks tomorrow. I cant wait to get him weighed on weds, coz I'm really curious to see how much he's gained. He was 7lbs 12oz when he was weighed 3 weeks ago, so I'm hoping for him to be 9lbs or so now. He's definitely getting longer & has a chubby chin thing going on now, and he's outgrown all the early baby sized clothes & is starting to get a bit long in the leg for the newborn sleepsuits he's got, but all the other newbrn things I have for him are still a bit big. We've been inubdated with presents of clothing from family & friends, but luckily they all bought 0-3 & 3-6, so I literally wont have to buy him anything in those sizes, which will save us a fortune! My mum's bought us 2 sleeping bag thingies in 2 sizes too, so the coming months should be cheap on the Harry front. (just everything else that is osting us a fortune now, lol)

Got the survey back for the house we're buying & everything is fine, so we're really hoping to complete before xmas 7 be moved in by new years. It's all very exciting. :)

anyway, better go as Harrybo is starting to stir... again! (surely not another growth spurt??? all he's been doing is feeding, burping, sleeping, feeding for the past 3 days... hope he's not planning on making it a habit or my poor boobs wont cope, lol)

2 piccies for you: the first- while in norfolk, do as they do; just had to get him driving/playing with his daddy & a tractor! second one is me, harry & great nan. my nan was ordering people to take lots of photos of her newest great grandchild 'in case she goes anytime soon' bless her.

I quite like the graco contour electra it is pricey but it will be used constantly and need it for at granparents too....hmmmm shall I bash the credit card?

I tried Noah in little trousers today they were huge and fell down (they were newborn too) He's in a romper and sleep bag today

Afternoon ladies....well I'm just grabbing a quick 5 minutes on here. I think we're on the wind up for his 6 week growth spurt as all he's done all day is grizzle, cry and fidget and want to eat! I'm trying every tactic under the sun but he's not slept apart from half an hour at about 1pm and been eating every 2 hours. It's going to be a long night!! At least hubby is on lates at the moment.....while that means he wont be home til 9, he doesn't leave til noon so he can help at night!!

Hope everyone is ok.......Earl is crying again....best go!!

Chaos- hope the pediatrician visit went well- did Autumn have any vaccines? Emma has hers next week and is getting a jab- eek :( Haven't had AF visit yet so I haven't experienced a drop in milk production- interesting though since estrogen and progesterone both drop at birth to help with milk production and also drop when you've got your period (I was curious and googled hormones- I'm a geek, I know). Geesh, that didn't take long to get back to normal. I'm hoping it stays away for many months :) Enjoy the belated thanksgiving dinner!

Maffie- Hope Noah's thrush clears quickly for you. This is the model of travel cot we've got: https://www.graco.net/e/item.asp?code=10997&s=0373DHD I don't know if it's available in the UK, but we love the newborn napper attachment- the head is slightly elevated and it's made of a cozy fleece. Definitely worth the money.

Colsy- we have grizzly days too... like today :) Emma seems to have finally worn herself out though and is asleep in OH's arms for the moment. The older she gets, the louder she learns to cry too! I used to get frustrated but now I've just resigned myself to accepting that on those days, we'll just be spending the day on the couch, letting her snack/nap on my boob for as long as she wants. Sometimes using the Moby wrap, with me bouncing around humming "YMCA" helps her settle too (hubby admits to humming the Tina Turner version of "Proud Mary", lol).

Florabean- Glad to hear everything is going well with the house and you had a good trip. We're in the same boat for clothing- lots of gifts that were clothes. Seems like just about every week my mother has been shopping again and has some new outfits for Emma- can tell she's the only grandchild! Can't complain though- like you said, it saves us money.

Aimee-lou- hope Earl settled for you!

Our carseat adventure continues... We were able to return the seat we bought without any problems but now the challenge is trying to find one that fits. We went to babies r us and 2 other department stores and none of them had convertible seats that were small enough for the backseat when placed rear-facing. I checked online and all I could find was other parents complaining about the selection in Canada for people without minivans and SUVs. Maybe we should move somewhere warm so Emma still fits in her infant seat

Kaites that cot is just like the one im looking at but the one here doesn't have the fleece napper. It has a mobile though.

Thanks! :) She's 11lb 7oz and 22 1/4 inches long now!

We are following a delayed vaccination schedule, so today she only had the Rotovirus (oral) and DTaP (jab), vs the 6 that is the "norm".
She was a trooper, she didn't even cry!! :) So now for the next 12 months she'll get roughly 2 a month vs the masses at a time. She's not been pissy at all, just has been very sleepy.

I'm told that AF also changes the taste of the milk, so some babies might get fussy with breast feeding around that time. My milk has started to come back up, I got a total of 3 ounces a pump from both breasts per pump today.

Ok we have company here tonight, belated Thanksgiving dinner for our friends, so I better go start the washing up!

Have a great night, girls :)

Good morning everyone....the night wasn't too bad. Earl gets really bad growing pains and we just have to pander to him a little and he will just sleep through them. He didn't settle at all until I put him in his lavender bath and then to bed. He then went to sleep at 8pm, dream feed at 12, then woke up at 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, before sleeping through til 9 and screaming because he'd overslept and was starving (I actually thought this was quite amusing as he had literally forotten to eat!). He's fine today and napping in his cot. Hubby is funny though....he seems to expect him to sleep almost constantly....I have to keep reminding him that he actually is awake about 8 hours a day so just feeding him and putting him straight back in bed wont work during the day lol :dohh:..... can't wait for him to spend a whole day alone with him lol (oooh I am cruel)

Colsy- we have days like you described..infact yesterday was abit of a mare..all day Ethan was either crying (wind) or feeding and he wouldn't be put down atall..several times he had fallen asleep on he,was well away in land of nod but as soon as I laid him in his chair or swing he woke up and cried to be picked up again! So tiring!
Ohhh he's 4 weeks old today!!..I've been and bought him a present..gripe water heehee. Also bought a couple of TT closer to nature bottles as were going to try him with a bottle of EBM later..just hope he's happy to switch freely between boobie and bottle! Wish me luck!!
Have a great day everyone xx

Sounds like we all had a loooooong day yesterday! :hugs:

Morning all  well it was when I started this post! Needless to say I am still in my pj's  (Edit:1.30 nd I am dressed! Yipee lol!) Settled Chloe at about 9.30pm last night then she woke at 11, 2, 5, then we were up for her 'brekkie feed' at 8.30 :D I was expecting worse as she was wide eyed all day bless. We got an official smile and happy face yesterday, OH was playing with her bottom lip and she loved it, he did it for quite a bit so we 100% know it wasn't wind! :happydance:

I just don't know how to get stuff done, it takes me all day to get nowhere! I have a few things to do but I just never seem to get chance ~ how do you ladies who HAVE to go out and about do it? I have things to do but maybe as they are not to a specific time frame that's my prob? Well I am off to meet my friend on Thursday and have to take Chloe on the bus (someone vandled my car so its out of action until I get a new passenger side wing mirror) so we shall see if I get organised!!

In saying that I have been researching swimming lessons, what a faff! I really want to take Chloe but I am up against location, cost (not just fees but equipment), lesson times and lesson term times! I need to find something that suits when I return to work too. Plus they want fees in advance, it would be much better if I could pay weekly as that is how OH is paid.

Edit: 2pm ~ Okay, Chloe is down and I am two handed again so I will do a few more bits and bobs and look back and post accordingly!! :hugs: :haha:

Ooo before I forget, here is a picture of todays successful tummy time! :D

Afternoon all. Today's question in another thread is about establishing a bedtime. I keep asking Qs about this, as I'm kind of thinking out loud. But I think this one's relevant to a few of the Bumpkins, so you might want to have a look https://www.babyandbump.com/baby-club/231581-moving-bedtime-10pm-more-sensible-time.html#post3709791

Let us know your thoughts.

We had a BAD night. After trying a 7pm bedtime (ha ha ha - Monty was absolutely sparko after a nice long BF, so I thought 'Let's try you in your hammock and see if you'll sleep there'. Instant awakening ... loads of crying, loads of colic pain. Came back downstairs with us, sat on our laps as we ate our tea at the dinner table, wouldn't settle when we all went to bed at 10pm, had to sleep on Daddy's chest, then in the middle of our bed. Eventually slept in hammock after a 4am BF - he will usually settle in the hammock at 10pm, without too much stress.

Now feeling zonked.

Hi all, sorry i havent been on for a while, hope your all well and babies are fine, well today i took George for his 8 week check up, and he had his needles, i took my Mum with me as i didnt want to hold him, and im so glad i did, he screamed and was crying like mad after the 2 needles, he was that scared he was holding his breath, poor boy, i really was upset for him, hes so cranky this afternoon, i was just changing him, and because i touched his legs he burst into a crying fit, i feel for him today i really do, but on a good thing at least it has been done now, hope everyone else is doing well xxx

ok I'm officially jealous of all your girls whose LO's are smiling. Earl is trying....he really is, but it's just not coming lol. We have however established that he is ticklish! :haha: Funniest thing to see him squirming away but I would love a little gummy grin to go with it....still he's only 5 weeks so time yet! lol - I hope it doesn't mean he's not happy :cry:

Kte - Chloe is gorgeous and I'm glad that tummy time is going well. We tend to do it on one of our chests as otherwise he tries to crawl off....:dohh: I don't think he realised that he's only little and can't! lol

Afternoon ladies! Took James to be weighed today and he is now 9lb 11oz! Thought he was getting heavier lol. Got back from clinic and put him in his moses basket in his nursery and he didn't even stir. Has been sleeping in there for about 45 minutes now. I'm well impressed. Off to a baby group tomorrow morning with a mum I met at postnatal group so that should be fun. Going to go put up my lights on my christmas tree and tidy up my house now lol. Have had DSS since Saturday so there are toys everywhere as well as baby crap (not literally lol).

I'm so excited girls....hubby has just called and told me that one of his work mates has just brought in a big pile of baby and toddler toys as well as a new bouncy chair and a load of blankets for Earl - I had been expecting the chair and blankets but it's like an early christmas present lol - hubby gets home at 9 and I'm going to be giddy as hell until then now! (I need to get out more!)

Littlekitten- James will be in double figures before you know it .....get doing those arm exercises as you will need your strength. Earl must be the best part of 12lb now and he weighs an absolute tonne!! I love it when they pass out after a trip out - far too much excitement lol. We go for a walk every afternoon at about 2ish and after it, Earl will always sleep like a trooper! He's been asleep since we left at 2.30 and is still going!

Aimee ~ I am sure Earl is happy! Yep I usually do a bit of tummy time on my chest too but I was determined to get her on a play mat without either a: crying or b: sleeping :haha: Great news about the baby stuff

LK ~ We are doing the Christmas tree etc this weekend, I am sure Chloe will be loving the tree lights when they are on! Hope you havea good time at the baby club tomorrow :D

Colsy ~ hope you find a way to bring bed time forward. It's difficult for me to comment as my OH goes to bed early anyway so we already take Chloe up at about 8 / 8.30. We just have a bit of evening time when she is asleep in her moses basket!

sam76 ~ Poor LO, I am dredding injection time. I hope George feels better soon and is not as tender :hugs:

Right off to finish my pizza lol
