Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Hey everyone. Happy Valentines Day!

Just wanted to update with what's going on with us. My GTT came back as normal, my thyroid levels are still raised but the Dr's are on top of it I think. I am due back to work next week and I'm actually quite looking forward to it (strange feeling lol) but I think it will do me good to have those couple of weeks to kind of finish me off so to speak.

Earl is doing brilliantly and has come on massively in the last few days including full on conversations, buttering his own toast (kind of lol) and using the big boy toilet with a bit of help. We're definitely going to try potty training again once I finish work (will be March so hopefully the weather will be improving). He's asleep at the moment as the spurt is wearing him out.

Have share last night though. He goes to the CM on a Monday and Tuesday 2pm-7pm. He got home about 7.10 (Daddy picked him up in the car). I had been pre-preparing mine and hubby's tea (Earl eats at the CM) so when he got in there were lovely smells of enchiladas wafting through the house lol. He walked in and said clear as day 'What's for Dinner, Mummy? I'm hungry!' I asked him what he wanted and he pointed to our dinner and said 'some of that please'. He doesn't like enchiladas (we've tried lol) so I made him a Quesadilla and he snacked on some breadsticks. He then had a yoghurt after eating all of that and a chocolate biscuit and some milk. He was fast asleep in bed by 8pm! Eating like a horse isn't a patch on him at the moment lol.

Great news Aimee :flower: :hugs:

Chloe proudly states "I did it" when she does something for herself at the moment, this morning becasue she stepped onto the bus and it was quite a large gap. It's really quite sweet, but, ahhhh they are growing up so fast!! I don't mind really, I am loving this stage as she is still my little cuddily baby but at the same time a chatter box and trying to be independant with some things too. So a nice mix!

My nephew is one soon, on Saturday but we are going up the weekend after for a big family party as my Mum and Dad are away for their anniversary this weekend and prob a few other reasons. Chloe was at my parents last weekend as Nij and I were wallpapering the ceiling and she loved it, hasn't stopped talking about Granddad since.

Aww all our bumpkins are getting so grown up! James was in the kitchen the other day playing with the fridge magnets and I called him from the living room to ask if he was coming to watch dragons (How to Train Your Dragon) and he clear as day piped up with 'I just do this a mimmit mummy'. Cracked me up!

So I have some exciting news.....I am no longer single! Ive known him for a few years and he has a 7 year old little girl. We decided earlier this week to get together and things are going great so far. We are so well suited and it was only me being wary that we havn't got together sooner. So life is looking very much up! The new house is lovely and we move all the furniture tomorrow. Got my start date for my new job of 2nd April. And now have a new man. I'm incredibly happy right now :)

Congratualtions LK and wishing you all the very best with everything right now! :hugs: :flower:

Wow, what a long time since I posted on here. I don't know what happened really ... one day we were all chat-happy, the next we didn't hear from half the Bumpkins ever again. It must be weeks, nay months, since I heard anything from Florabean or Chaos. If you're reading this, I hope you're both well - drop us a line and let us know what's going on.

I'm STILL TTC #2. Been 9 months now, and I'm worrying a bit if I'm honest. I've read conflicting advice - some says seek med help at 6 months and other says seek help at 12 months. Going the med route really isn't us, so we're clutching at straws and looking at 12 months as our cut-off for when we head to the doc.

As is always the way when TTC, there seem to be babies everywhere right now. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy for those who are lucky enough to have a new baby ... but I don't half wish it were me sometimes!

Monty is doing so well (tho having said that, he's got what I think is an ear infection this pm - keeping an eye, but I guess we'll head to docs tomorrow if it doesn't clear, otherwise we'll have the whole weekend to get through). He can walk forever - seriously, the other day he walked the best part of a mile all the way UPHILL, then scrambled on the rocks at Stanage Edge whilst watching the climbers for another half hour or so, and then walked all the way back down again.

Re speech, he chatters away, and he almost always makes himself understood to me and OH, but we've a little way to go yet before we do full-on sentences.

Well, that's us. Be lovely to hear from some of you others if you get a chance ...

Evening all. All is going well here both boys seem to be growing up so fast. J had a bit of a set back and needed a feeding tube for a weekend but he's fine again now. N is a walker too Colsy he never seems to stop we walked all the way along Bridlington sea front past the harbour down the other side and back and he wasnt giving up. Think all the seagulls, donkeys and boats helped!!!!

J is lso walking so having 2 to chase is good. Im down to a 4 days week which helps at work and im happily falling for a great guy.

colsy- sorry to hear you're having trouble TTC'ing. my sister has been trying for nearly 2 yrs now :hugs:

fraggles- nice to hear you have a great guy :D poor J needing the feeding tube. hope he continues to do well :flower:

Milo... long story! lol. he's been doing speech therapy for nearly 2 months. still no words. unless you count EE-EE when he wants to say kitty kitty. lol. he should be starting Occupational Therapy next month  he's been super aggressive lately  and i've started calling around to start setting up Early Childhood Special Education. i'm gonna be so sad to have him leave me for school

Hi everyone

Glad to hear that everyone seems well.

Colsy - sorry to hear about the TTC issues. I'm sure it will happen, most probably at the least convenient time lol. :hugs:

Earl is a walker too - as long as he doesn't get 'bored', which he will now proclaim at the top of his voice lol. We went to Wells-next-the-sea and he walked all the way to the beach and back - a good mile or so each way - and only once did he ask for 'shoulders'. He also enjoyed the horse-racing last friday at Fakenham, and even managed to pick a winner, and won a fiver to put in his savings lol. :haha:

All is well here - apart from the fact that I have to take iron supplements now. I have such a sensitive stomach already so they're not helping. Midwife appointment went well on Tuesday too. Next appointment is my 32 week scan and my consultant appointment (as well as my ear check up on the same day lol )

Anything else? I have 9 shifts left at work - I finish on the 11th March  and I seriously cannot wait. Earl is absolutely loveing pre-school at the moment too. We spent ages last week doing drawings and colouring in pictures to go in his journal for his favourite teacher lol. He's a sucker for a brunette! lol

aimee- i bet you're getting so excited :D Ava was due May 6th. i cant believe you'll be having a new LO and she'll be turning 1 soon!

I am getting very excited now lol. I'm trying to hold back on my 'nesting' stage (I've been nesting since about 16 weeks lol) until I finish work, and I keep buying little bits and bobs when I see them. I don't really need to buy much as still have everything from Earl in the loft but I'm still managing to find things to buy  I keep saying that I just can't wait to get that little boy/girl in my arms. So excited about labour too (weird lol).

lol! i was excited about labor with Ava too  i tried not to nest too early. then i started slacking and didn't do much of any nesting until 35 weeks

Excited about labour . . . ?! You lot are mad! :haha:

Colsy: Sorry to hear about your TTC troubles :hugs:

Fraggles: Glad you've found someone who seems a good-un. :flower:

Chloe is a walker too, she is quite funny, when it's time to leave nursery she says 'I'm walking'! Oh really?! I don't mind her doing it, I'm just getting her to ask if she can walk, rather than stating it. Her sense of self and the world around her is really developing at the moment, we are getting a lot of 'mine?' or stating something belongs to someone else, 'this yours?' or 'Mummies cup' etc. We have just been to my parents and sister and so yesterday she kept on asking where, Granddad, Nana, William, Annabell, Jacob and Toby were, one by one.

I was excited about it. Even now, while I'm still TTC, I'm excited about the next time:thumbup: (Let's just hope there is one:dohh:)

'There you go Mummy, that's yours' is Earl's favourite saying. He'll also 'share' his toys by asking 'which one you want?' then when you say, for example that you want the blue one he'll say 'No, Mummy not want the blue one. Mummy have Yellow one?' lol :haha:

Er, a little word in your ear please ... BFP :happydance: Am more nervous than pleased. No, I am ridiculously pleased, but I am sooooo scared that it isn't going to work out that I can't really compute yet that I Am Pregnant. That sounds weird!

More soon xxx

Bingers, that's so weird - I accidentally stumbled across the old Bumpkins thread today, and I saw your name and thought "whatever happened to ..." And now here you are, announcing your pregnancy ... and sounds as though we're both due around the same time!

Did it happen quickly for you? Not for us - been ten months in the making (though to be fair only eight proper cycles, because we actively avoided TTC in a couple of those months because we were trying to avoid birth at a certain time).

I am sooooo nervous!
