Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Eswift ~ Chloe has some of teether keys too but she hasn't figured out they can go in her mouth, all her cloth toys do but the harder textures she has yet to master! She has started to hold them so I don't think it will be long. Glad DS has been better for you, hope it continues too :flower:

Yep OH made pancakes, he had syrup and I had Jam, I normally have lemon & sugar but have fond memories when my grandad made them and I cant get ther lemon sugar ratio right lol

Aimee ~ Test! It is a bit odd you have gone off sweet things. At least you can defo know then for sure if you do test. :hugs:

LK ~ shame you couldn't get a lie in. Mean buggers putting you in HD!

No fair ladies my tummy is still all floppy!!

Mornin' girls,

Well I dunno what's got in to my child. Its 721am, I'm sitting down stairs watching the news, waiting to feed her. I just poked my head in her bedroom and shes snoring!!! I wish my trained-to-be-awake-at-the-crack-of-dawn-body would accept this newly found lay-in and let me stay in bed!! lol.

We're going to a place called roly polies today with my mummy group, there's about 20 of us going. It's basically a in door baby/kiddy gym focused on child development. It's really for 6 month +, but we're just going to hang out.

Thanks for the love on the video. She cracks me up. My favourite part of that video is around 39 seconds when she actually GROWLS at the spoon. She'd do it her self if I left the spoon on the table, but I just couldn't be bothered to deal with that mess yesterday lol.

Gah, the weather man said we're in for our 4th winter storm of the year. 1 to 4 inches expected. BOO :( :(

Kte ~ Ack eyes open when sleeping freaks me out too.

Eswift ~ I just up'd Autumns portions to 2 ice cube portions a feeding. She has rice for breakfast +8 oz, she'll have 1 or 2 8oz bottles in the day and then a fruit or veg +8oz at night. She's struggling to finish the 8oz since I upped the solid lol.

LK ~ Sorry work kicked your butt! Hope you got a good nights sleep.

Aimee ~ I LOVE Autumn and I's co sleep cuddle in the morning. It's become a little habit, well except for this morning!
That' high pitch dog whistle screech is just deafening isn't it?

Colsy ~ I agree about noisey. It's like they've just discovered, OH that noise actually comes from ME?!

Aimee ~ OoOo let us know the results!!!!

You may think this crazy, but hubby and I are talking about TTC around Aug time .. that means Autumn will be nearly 2 by the time the LO would be born .. I know it sounds crazy, but I'd rather just get my pregnancy sentence over and done with haha.

Okies ima get some brekkie. Have a FAB day, loves.

New Avatar ladies....just look how grown up my little boy looks! :baby:

Ok I am officially the worlds worst mum! Thought James was teething cos he is drooling for England etc. Been keeping an eye on his bottom gums and then today decided to look at the top one cos when he was gnawing on my chin his gums felt hard....to discover he has cut his top left fang!! And the right one is almost through! Well don't I feel cruel!

Good afternoon!

Chaos- Cute video! I have to start take more clips of Emma. Emma is a noisy eater too- she hums as she's BFing. You guys are getting hammered with snow this winter! It's like your area of the states is getting all of our snow, lol. It's been cold here but not too much snow- haven't been able to get out cross country skiing as the trails are bare in spots. Strange winter! Hope you have fun at roly polies

Eswift- I hope you get your getaway too :) I wouldn't normally book a hotel in Montreal since it's both fairly close to home and expensive, but I used frequent flyer miles (sadly the days of frequent travel are a thing of the past, lol). Pancakes were dinner for us too- lemon and sugar on pancakes always reminds me of my grandmother  Around here everyone does maple syrup but I'm not really a fan of the stuff

Kte- open eyes freaks me out too :)

LK- when does the new job start? Hope you don't have much longer for your long commute! You're not a bad mum, just looking in the wrong spot for teeth :)

Aimee- cute avatar of Earl :) He's giving a look as if to say, "ok, where's the food?" hope you get the result you want if you test- 2010 bumpkin? ;)

Having a bit of a boring day here- catching up on laundry and feeding Emma lots. I think she might be having another growth spurt  At 3mths her sleep got all messed up and later we figured out it was a growth spurt and it's happened again, so I'll probably notice she's too long for another bunch of clothes in a few days :dohh: Time to find something to eat for lunch- hope everyone is having a nice day!

Chaos ~ TTC date doesn't sound daft, OH & I would be trying again sooner if I didn't stand to gain as much if we just wait a few extra weeks; I don't want to leave too much of a gap... The funny bit in our conversation was both OH & I said, definately another 1, and possibly another after that... But we'll stop there... Both of us are a little confused if we're daft for thinking like that, lol but after being together as long as we have I guess it's really reassuring to think the same lol or just really SAD!?!?

Aimee ~ Hasn't he grown so much, I must get my act together and get a more recent pic of CC... Oh hang on, I'll see if I can do this... This is the piccie we've chosen for our invites...

LK ~ Sorry to hear James wasn't so accommodating on the sleep thing; hope all goes well for your next shift...

CC's had her bath and a little nap, she's just cooing away to herself as DS is watching the Hunchback of Notre Dame... OH has gone to work, mind you I've managed to get both CC & DS in bed for 9 ish and had an hour or so to myself...

Well they aren't sposed to cut their top canines first lol. Awkward little so and so. And while I was writing, he puked all over my mums face lol.

aimee, have you got the blue mam teether with 3 'prong' bits & a kinda fish pattern on it? If so, Harry has that & he loves it!

LK- I think harry will cut his canines first too- he has a very sharp lump on his upper right side & a matching less sharp one on the other side too. :dohh:

eswift; Charlotte is beautiful. :)

I forgot it was pancake day, so we;re having them tonight instead. :)

Kte - forgot to say, I was in boots buying Earl a teether and they have 'teething cloths' which have plastic corners but cloth in the middle. I was tempted to get one but hubby wouldn't let me. Thought they may be right up Chloe's street by what you were saying the other day.

Flora - yep that's the one. it's gone down a storm and he's sussed it!

LK- Earl too has lumps at his canines. Has done since he was born. Mine are really prominent so I thought that maybe he would be the same....poor thing. he's got all the bad points of being me! :dohh:

Kaites - I'm still not sure that I need to test, and hubby thinks I'm thinking too much into it. I will probably pop out and get one in the next couple of days.

Earl really has suddenly grown into his skin. He's started to sit up with very little assistance, reacting to his own name/shouting in his general direction, grabbing out for things pretty accurately and definitely getting the hang of hand-to-mouth actions. He's a little star! :cloud9:

Right - Hubby has made tea and Earl is in bed so time for a Stargate Atlantis marathon  DOes anyone else follow? I'm a HUGE SG-1 fan and I've borrowed the boxsets off my Mum as I've never followed Atlantis (was at Uni etc so couldn't). It's brilliant and (not thinking ahead here or nothing) we may be using one of the names from it for our next little one (no, not Rodney, although it was discussed!)

Have a nice evening ladies xx

Evening all,

Bottle making time soon!

Aimee ~ Ooo thanks, I have some boots points I want to use so I will pop in tomorrow when I am in town. That sounds perfect for her! Test wise, maybe just get a cheap test from boots? At least it them eliminates the 'am I / aren't I', we all know what it's like once that thought is floating around your head and your never sure if your playing tricks on yourself or not! . . . is there any other reasons why you might have gone off sweet food? Earl looks really cute in your avatar, he looks like he is wearing braces (not the tooth kind obviously!) I love the innocent 'what you doing?' look on his face :D

Enjoy the SG-1 athon, I never really got into it but usually like that stuff.

LK ~ Your not a bad mum at all, I never heard that the teeth are supposed to come on the bottom first so I was just looking all over and found Chloe's on the top. Maybe that's why everyone thought I was being over neurotic or something! It wasn't until the HV said it was strange that I found out. Plus, you had noticed he was teething :flower:

Its funny how all the Bumpkins like to do things differently to 'the rule book'! So long as one doesn't solve a puzzle then the rest can without seeing it, like in that weird film, have no idea what its called sorry lol, but they all have white hair and can communicated via telekinesis, I'm not too worried lol

Eswift ~ Beautiful picture of CC. Odd question, was she slippy in that dress? Chloe had some really nice dresses at Christmas but I couldn't keep hold of her!

Chaos ~ Hope you had a good day and the weather doesn't become too disruptive. I don't think your mad planning when to TTC next either.

Kaites ~ your trip away sounds nice, it may be near but a change is always nice and refreshing. I would like to visit there one day, my Mum and Dad went there way back in the 80's or early 90's I can't remember when, it was to go to her friends wedding. I was little and my Grandparents looked after us and in the photos my Mum had a dodgy 80's perm! They brought me back an Alf teddy which I was so over the moon with as you couldn't get them over here at the time. lol Funny what you remember! I bought CHloe some 6-9 month trousers the other day and okay the waist is bit it high up but the leg length is spot on, I thought I was ahead with a bit of growing room!

Right must dash, water just gone over the 30 min mark! Nite all (hoping for an early one!!) xx

Yeah, I normally (god it sounds like I'm a perpetual test taker lol) get 2 for £5 from boots. Only had 1 FRER randomly when we got our BFP last feb, otherwise it's boots own all the way.

You're welcome on the cloth....I was actually going to buy one like I said. If you have trouble let me know and I'll pop in and get one for you.

Kte ~ LOL My sister had one of them ALF toys! LOL Dodgy 80's programme, showing our age... (wonder if she's still got it?) The dress CC had on is that picture isn't too slippy, has some pink mesh type material over the top, bonnet and knickers to match... LOL She had a similar one on at Christmas that was very very slippy, needless to say she was back in a babygrow by lunch time... Hope you manage to get your early night...

Aimee ~ Enjoy your SG1 night, I like the sound of the cloth teether; CC is forever chewing on her bibs, I'll have to keep an eye out when I'm next in the large boots store. We've only got tiny one around here...

Florabean ~ Enjoy your pancakes, the men in my house are asking pancakes this weekend too... LOL

I've managed to get CC to sleep, DS is my next challenge; and then to bed for me... LOL I'll only be in bed playing on the DS until about 11 ish; making sure they're both out for the count...

I saw the cloth in the Boots on Coney Street in York - in case. Same offer goes to you Emily if you have trouble.

Morning ladies - I'm a bit brighter this morning. Earl actually went back down after a feed this morning (I was NOT going to get up at 4.50am! lol) so I managed to get some more sleep as he stayed down until 6.30.....much better. I'm trying him out o 8oz bottles today as I've been having to top him up at about 5.30 with 3oz in order for him not to scream the house down while I'm dressing him. He still takes his food in 2 sittings, but at least he'll maybe not make my ear drums bleed like the last 3 nights lol.

Hubby is going to get me a test this afternoon, so place your bets. I still think it's just hormones re-settling as my Mum apparently had a similar thing after having me, but as LK said, better to test and be sure.

Earl and I are just sat watching Tom and Jerry....I forgot how violent it is!

Have a nice day ladies xx

Aimee ~ Tom & Jerry is tame compared to some cartoon's I've bocked DS from watching... LOL... Thanks for the offer, I may just convince OH after he's been paid to take me to York one Friday... If I do it right, I might get lunch too... LOL I think you might be right about testing LOL...

I was bleeding every week on the last pill, not had a bleed since starting the new ones, still not got any energy though... Off back to dr's now, been 3 weeks I should be feeling better by now... OH is still a bit bothered about me, because if he say something wrong or I taking it wrong I'm in floods of tears... (Still thinks it's because I'm shattered...) Plus my elbow's still playing up (?)

I'll let you know how I get on...

Morning all

well ECG went well so bloods tomorrow and seeing doc again next week to discuss other possibilities.

I nearly got Noah one of those teething cloths but instead I got this bright stars elephant which has a soft bulky head he can cuddle, the body is a cloth and the feet are ubber.

Going to be ebaying today, feel like vegging out but not an option lol

Morning all,

Well I got an early night but I just felt a wreck. Chloe tried t wake up at 6 but I convinced her to stay in bed and that was it until 7.30. That last little bit of sleep was amazing! Weird when the happens.

Aimee ~ Thanks for the offer, if they don't have them in the one near me I'll give you a shout  They are the tests I used to get too :)

Yeah Tom & Jerry is violent but like you say you didn't realise / remember how violent it is, & like Eswift says, some of the newer onces can be worse! Its weird when you look back at something and you notice more! iykwim

Eswift ~ Lol Mine is still in the loft! I have a sack full of care bear teddies, luckily my friend bought the episodes on DVD so Chloe will know what they are about.

The matching accessories sound nice :) Will that be her Christening dress? We went for a non-traditional silver.

Hope all goes well at the docs :flower:

Maffie ~ Glad the ecg has gone well and hope the other appointments do too :flower:

Morning girls, a Q re baby carriers. Do any of you have experience of Close Baby, Baby Bjorn Active, Ergo or Connecta? I've used the Close up till now, but TBH I've always struggled with it, which I'm v disappointed about as I do think it gives a lovely close bond. I've now got a veritable bargain of an almost brand new Baby Bjorn Active for just twenty quid, and Monty and I are loving it. It does feel more "techy" though than the Close, so I don't get the same baby-wearing sort of feel from it. Anybody else agree with this?

And (I've asked this in the Natural forum too), anybody know why I might also like to get a Connecta and/or Ergo as well? Is there any point me doing so? Why (or why not, as the case may be)?

Monty and I got snotty colds but we ain't too bad. He helped me vac the house last night - he was front-ways in the carrier and he held on to the vac tube while I did the rugs. Cute!

Still waking once a night - seems to have formed a habit of feeding between 1 and 1.30am, regardless of what time he went to bed.

I have a connecta and I love it, I think Noah prefers the moby but thats too fiddly for out and about not that ive used the connect out yet @rofl:

Hi Maffie, I think the Moby is quite similar to my Close Baby, except the Close has metal rings, which the Moby doesn't have. What's so great about the Connecta? Incidentally, I've been looking for Connectas on eBay, but I haven't yet found a single one on there. Any ideas why? There's loads of Ergos, and they're really dear, so it's not that people don't buy them.

Colsy ~ I'm sure Monty will loose the 1am wake up call when he's ready, stick in there girl. CC had 1am and 4am; we have lost both (for the time being~)

As far as a carrier is concerned I've managed to get hold of a TOMY Snugli carrier, it's like a back pack; CC's now too heavy for me to carry her on my front. We pick it up for £6 (BIL gave us the next size up with the storm cover too, it tranfers straight on to the one we brought... Talk about lucky...) I suppose it all depends on what you're after. Good Luck hunting...

Kte ~ I'm not sure if we'll be using the dress, I had been trying to crochet one; I've the arms and bodice to finish... Not seeming to get any time to sit and crochet... LOL May end up using it LOL... DS had a silver outfit too, he was so slippy; even the rev commented LMAO... Look lovely but totally impractical...

Maffie ~ Glad to hear ECG went well, hope all goes well with the bloods...

Well, my darling daughter has given me a golfer's elbow... (like tennis elbow but the other side of the arm...) Advice paracetamol and a cold pack of peas come evening time... LOL They've put me on iron tablets too, told to keep taking them for the next 3 months; apparently I was borderline in December. Should have insisted in January that I took them... Told I must keep a close eye on my mood if I'm still very down, snappy and weepy to go back, I should know by 2 weeks if I'm feeling better; as postnatal depression can still show it's head up to 18 months after baby... (Now I didn't know that?! So keep an eye out girls..)

Right, that's enough about me... Best go find CC some lunch...
