Ive noticed Noah is sleeping less through the day as he's too interested in whats going on, i'm amazed at how well he does at night only thing we have problems with is he hates any light so we need darker curtains and cant have lights on upstairs at all.

have you tried those albas plug ins for his cold Aimee?

Well i'm making a curry in a minute, just sorting through clothes to sell some and packed a bag away ready for number 2

Always a bonus having the cloth bums Maffie! You have saved yourself even more on them now and get to re-use all the cute ones you liked using on Noah!

Sorry to hear the doc was inconsiderate

:flower:

Good afternoon :)

Hope everyone is having a good day. I finally finished the knitting project I've been working on for what feels like forever. Time to explore a new hobby- knitting takes too long, lol :) Emma discovered at lunch that it hurts to chew on her hand now that she's got a bit of tooth- poor kid. Not much else going on- I got Emma's passport photos done yesterday and they are horrible (probably some of the worst photos ever taken o her). I guess babies aren't immune to ugly passport photos!

Chaos- glad to hear Autumn is okay after the fall. Emma rolled off the couch in my sewing room a few weeks ago. It all happened so fast, I don't think she knew what happened- she just thought she was reaching for a toy that fell off the couch and she followed :dohh: Definitely makes you more vigilant though, lol. Hope Autumn enjoyed hanging with her boyfriends today :winkwink:

Aimee- I hope Earl's tooth cuts for him soon and his cold clears so that he can get a bit of sleep :hugs:

Kte- I hope Chloe sleeps better for you too :hugs: Emma's only had a handful of blow outs since the cloth nappies seem better at containing them, but it seems like everytime we've put her in a disposable diaper, she saves up the poop and we're guaranteed a nasty explosion :dohh:

Flora- that's funny that Harry is afraid of the binliners :) Emma's the total opposite- anytime she hears a bag crinkling, she starts giggling.

Maffie- Hope your back feels better :hugs: Sorry to hear the doc was harping on about termination.

Evening everyone,

Well, we've managed to get Earl off to sleep. I say we, Hubby had to do and we tried CC. It worked a treat, he was asleep by 8pm, took 48mins to get to sleep (he was in full on excitable mode at the beginning) and hubby dealt with it brilliantly. I've got to say, I'm a lot more confident that we'll be able to do that again now that I've seen it work - last time I tried anything like it he was sick. He was just getting abit too used to being up after bedtime so we decided to nip it in the bud.

Just had a bowl of strawbs and cream to celebrate/make myself feel better after hearing him cry for all that time.

BTW - Don't forget to vote tomorrow peeps! It's an important election this time, so don't miss the opportunity to have your say! We're going first thing tomorrow as hubby is off fishing so looks like we'll be the first to the polling station lol.

Evening all,

Well i've only just managed to sit down, been to my friends today and we took DD to a softplay centre, it was excellent...even Theo had a good time!! They had a baby section with baby walkers, play gyms, bumbos in etc...Theo loved the walker, its a shame we don't have lots of space in our house!!

We went to come home and the traffic was awful, so turned back and went to my mums who is just round the corner and had tea with her . Soooo we've only just got them both into bed, DD is still chatting away to herself up there :nope:, Theo sounds like he is asleep though! :D

Anyway few Q's....
1. How many meals & bottles do your LOs have during the day/night now?

Theo has 3 meals a day( breakfast, savoury & yoghurt then savoury & fruit), 2 bottles & a snack mid day. Is that too much? DD never ate that much, but she was probably half the size of him...Theo now weighs 19lb!

2. (TMI question alert) Are you babys poo's solid or still paste/watery consistency?

Theo's poo's are like little rabbit droppings! I open the nappy and they all fall out :haha:...its always little tiny poo's and theyre pretty solid? I thought he would still have mushy poo's?

3. How many naps & how long for?

Theo tends to catnap during the day, the longest nap he has is after dinner and he will sleep 1hr 30 most days, then he will have 2 x 15-20 min naps in the morning and afternoon....

I know all babies are diff but it would be good to get a general idea of what all our babies are doing? I'm so confused, I can hardly remember anything from when DD was a baby!

Chaos- :hugs: Theo fell off our bed a few weeks ago too, he landed face down and had a bruise on his cheek and eyebrow...everyone kept asking me why he had a bruise & I felt AWFUL, I literally only turned round for 2 seconds and he was on the floor, crying ...let me tell you though, it just gets worse and worse, DD is always falling over etc....they spring back pretty quick though after a magic mummy kiss!!

Kaites- congrats on the tooth, Theo is still a gummy bear...hes dribbling for England at the moment though!

Aimee- :flower: Thanks, i'm really looking forward to it...can't wait to be learning again, so I must be weird too :winkwink:! Oh & well done on the CC, thats what we have to do with Theo some nights, he needs that though, he can't wind down without a little cry...bless him!

Flora - Glad Harry is liking his own room!

Maffie - Glad to hear you got the ball running with pg, how rude of that Dr...I personally don't think they should be able to mention things like that? :nope:. Hope your back is better soon :flower:

Off to load my dishwasher then watch Desperate Housewives in bed :happydance: have a nice evening all.

x

Anyway few Q's....
1. How many meals & bottles do your LOs have during the day/night now?

During the night, none. During the day:

6am: 8oz + Porridge or rice
10am: 4oz snack
1230ish: Fruit mush + 6oz. I normally give her some finger foods too, toast, fruit, cheerios or something.
3pm: 4oz snack
530pmish: veg mush + 6 or 8 oz. She'll also get finger foods. Generally its a bit of what ever we're having .. pasta .. sausages etc.

2. (TMI question alert) Are you babys poo's solid or still paste/watery consistency?

Before she got a tummy bug a month ago, it was like proper grown up people poop. Then when she got the bug she had really bad runs. Since then it swaps consistency from runny to solid. The last few days its started getting back to people poop.

3. How many naps & how long for?

Naps. Well she wakes up about 6amish. She'll go down at 9amish for about an hour, then she'll go down at about 1pmish for 2 hours give or take, then she goes to be about 6 to 630pm and sleeps right thru.

At the moment it looks like she's trying to drop her afternoon nap, which is AGAINST THE LAW!! cause Mama need ME time in the Pm!!

Mellie - Thanks :flower:

To answer your questions - Poos are sort of half way between hard and soft. Not really a help but I worry about his blocking up so he has water at every meal and snack.

Meals - Earl is on 3 meals and 5/6 bottles (around 30-36oz).
6am - 6oz bottle (takes between 3 and 6oz)
7am - breakfast of porridge, weetabix or similar
10am - bottle - 5-6oz
12noon- lunch - sandwich, fruit, leftovers (finger foods)
1pm - bottle 5-6oz
4pm - bottle 5-6oz
5.30pm = tea - 1/2 a jar/veggie puree, yoghurt, bits from our dinner
7pm - bedtime - 6-7oz (sometimes only takes 4oz)
11-12 - 7oz bottle

Naps are causing issues - at the moment he'll have a nap around 8ish for around 1-1.5 hours, around 1pm for another 1-1.5hours, and he's dropping his afternoon nap which was at 4ish for about 30 mins.

Our meals are varied at the moment, he's upped his morning feeds again today so usually

5am BF
7am BF
8.30am Breakfast (usually 3oz EBF with cereal and he likes a piece of banana)
9.30am BF (short nap between 45 mins to 1 1/2)
12pm BF
1.30pm Lunch (usually fruit, yesterday was avocado and kiwi)
2pm BF (he likes BF after food and he usually goes down for a nap until 4 or 5)
5pm BF
6pm Dinner (usally veg eg sweet potato a full tub so 4oz might also have some fruit)
7pm BF
8pm BF then to bed until the morning.

Morning all, well Noah was up a bit late last night he was really unsettled after me and OH had an arguement so he wasn't in bed until after 9pm so I went to bed when he did.

Up early too, poor mite.

Maffie - forgot to say, about the plug-ins, I've not seen a children's one anywhere. Can you use the adult ones? I think it would really help Earl, although he seems to be coming out the other side now, as do I! Would be good to have it for next time.

Well I've been and voted - I'm actually quite excited about the results. Maybe this country will get back to some semblence of order....although maybe not!

Earl is down for his first nap. Having started the CC we're taking a consistent approach so I did it, on my own this time as hubby is currently sat on teh side of a lake somewhere :haha: - Popped him down, told him it's 'sleepy time' and he coo'd away for 20 mins. 3 mins before the end of his 6 minutes he started to cry. Went in after the 6 minutes were up, gave him his dummy, kissed him on the forehead and he was out! So from 33 mins last night, to 3 mins this morning!! Woohooo! I am actually a lot more positive about this now that I've managed it on my own (I will confess I hated hearing him cry last night and spend the entire time holding the timer and crying  but I could tell he wasn't actually upset, just angry at us leaving him, which made me realise just how much he, for want of a better word, controls me. It's not that he manipulates me, it's just I've not been very strict at all and he's gotten used to a lot of 'luxuries' that has made him play up a little if he doesn't get them as normal. It's not that he's spoiled, it's just we've gotten into bad habits. Hopefully now we've stopped that, and now we have a bona-fide routine we can handle anything lol. - well that's the idea, we'll see how it pans out.

Btw, I had originally intended to use the Sleep Sense technique and had been trying this sitting in the room with him and he would sit there staring at me until I moved, and the slightest movement he's start giggling and kicking. This went on for nearly 2 hours the other night  Time to stop it before he gets any worse.

Hmmmm now what am I going to do with myself for the next few mins. I've been trying to find some new games and things to play with Earl so I may go and have a trawl for sensory items for him to play with....cardboard tubes and wrapping paper ahoy! :happydance:

We're going first thing tomorrow as hubby is off fishing so looks like we'll be the first to the polling station lol.

Ah, Aimee, there's another thing we share ... OHs who like fishing ;-) Is he sea or freshwater?

Will be voting later. Have never missed a vote since the day I turned 18. A bit undecided, as on the one hand I want to help one party get in but on the other hand I'd like to help the greens begin to get established on the UK political scene. Ho hum ...

So we have two teeth and possibly some more coming through. Have tried Ashton and Parson powders and so far am really impressed with them. Monty takes them no problem and they seem to calm him down straight away. He is still only one lot of solids per day - that's at lunchtime. He tends to have leftovers from our dinner the night before, amended so that it's baby-friendly, e.g. I'll not put any stock or salt in his food, and so far I haven't tried him with hot spices, although he has had less hot spice such as cumin, plus garlic and various herbs. His poos are still squidgy and paste-like - definitely not grown-up poo but also not newborn poo either. He is BF less during the day this past week ... but unfortunately he's trying to make up for it at night ... so last night we woke for a feed three times! However, we hung up some blackout fabric last night in the hope that it would at least mean he'd sleep in slightly later, and lo and behold he didn't wake for the day until 7am, which is a vast improvement on the 5.30am wakeup he'd been doing for us. So, although I was up three times in the night feeding, I don't feel too bad at all, as I feel like I had a lie-in, LOL. Gosh, remember the days when 7am felt early? Ha, don't suppose we'll feel like that again for a few years now!

Things with OH have improved big time and also his health seems to be on the up, touch wood, fingers crossed, black cats, no ladders, etc.

I've been quiet this week as I've been catching up with work and loads of admin, with a view to getting all our stuff sorted out so then we can start doing just a couple of admin things each week, rather than loads of them in one go. After our various illnesses over the past couple of months, all the paperwork got out of hand, so it feels good to be sorting stuff out again.

On to the rest of you ...

Kte, I am not sure of your situ now as I haven't read all the posts on here, but I get the impression it's just you and Chloe now. If so, I send you lots of :hugs: and hope that you're feeling OK about things.

Maffie, hope first tri is still going good for you. Is your OH pleased too?

Chaos, hope your little cutie is OK after her tumble. Somebody said to me the other day that almost all parents have baby falling from a height at some point ... but almost all of them only ever do it once! A girl from my postnatal group had a very scary experience - her baby was in her bouncy chair on the kitchen worktop (I know! don't even say it!) and managed to bounce off the worktop and on to the tiled floor :-( Fortunately baby was absolutely fine, but even so I should think mum and dad were terrified at the time.

LK, not heard from you in a while. Hope your new job and new man are both good.

Flora, how's the post-honeymoon period? Are you still loved up, or has life settled down again now?

Mellie, think it's lovely that you want to be a MW. I have thought about doing this too. The prob with me is that it would mean doing a second degree, so I'd have to pay for the whole thing. Also, I wonder is it possible to be a MW but not work nightshifts? After many years of telling OH that I hated him working shifts, I am not now in a position to start doing them myself, LOL.

Kaites, hope you're still loving BLW. I hope you and DH start to get some time together soon - it's hard when your other half works all hours. I've been there myself (although not since we had a baby), and I know it can be tough.

So, who have I missed out? Big apols if I've missed anything hugely important.

Oh, forgot to say we went to our village parents and tots group for the first time. It was good. I can't tell you how scared I was of going! For some reason I've been pretty good at going to all sorts of groups outside of our village, but going to the one group in our own village terrified me. God knows why?! Anyway, everyone was really friendly, and once I got in there I realised that actually I know almost everyone that goes anyway - well, know them to say hello to, even if not to actually be friends with, if you see what I mean. We'll be going again soon anyway.

Also looking into doing a baby signing class. But blimey, I can't believe how popular these are and how booked up in advance they get. Clearly there's a market there for a few enterprising people!

That's it from me for now xx

Colsy - fresh water coarse is his mainstay but he loves any form of 'rod-sport' lol. He's loking at sea-fishing gear for his father's day pressie this year (talk about planning ahead lol)

We don't have a green candidate ( not a great deal of choice actually, only had 5 candidates to choose from) but I do like their policies and liek you say, they just need that break into politics. I'm taking an ABL policy this time ' Anything But Labour' (sorry don't mean to get political but I'm not a supporter of Mr Brown). Time for someone else to mess it up in their own inimitable way lol. :dohh:

I am taking the same approach, lol. :dohh:

Colsy, i think we've never been in a loved up groove thang, lol! We're both sooooooo laid back (to the point of laziness & nonchalence) so other than the day of the wedding, where we were like giggly school kids, we are just 2 best friends... I think coz we already lived together, have a mortgage & all that jazz, have Harry together, were at university together & were best friends before being in a relationship together, that getting married wasn't as bigger deal as it is for some people & instead was 'just' the inevitable next step, if that makes sense? Not that it was any less special, but it was certainly easier to get back to normal after it all & no post wedding blues or anything.

I posted my vote

Will catch up soon! Just wanted to say morning!

Me too!!

I got my maths feedback the other day and i passed :happydance: i know its only basic calculations but my maths is shockingly bad plus i havent studied in 15 years so i expected to have to re-do it.

My english i need to tweak a little and send that off.

Sam dragged himself across the living room floor towards the fire (its only electric and not even plugged in, more for decoration) the boy is obsessed with it, poor baby, he smacked his face right on the edge of it and has now got a bruised nose and top of his lip  didnt stop him trying to get back over to it last night though!

Anyway few Q's....
1. How many meals & bottles do your LOs have during the day/night now?

2. (TMI question alert) Are you babys poo's solid or still paste/watery consistency?

3. How many naps & how long for?

Sam has a bottle about 8amish when he gets up

Toast or weetabix about 9am

Lentil bake or beef stew (which is what ive made up at the moment) with 1/2 jar of baby dessert about 12ish

a 8oz bottle about 2.30 normally with a rusk
his tea is anywhere between 4.30 and 6.30 depending on him and he has the opposite of what he had for lunch with 1/2 jar dessert

sometimes i'll give him raw carrots to chomp on if he still wants more but i dont think he actually eats any of it

if he's had his tea early then he'll have a bottle before bed about 7.30ish

then bed at 8 - he's never any later than that cos he gets soooo ratty!

He has his own roast dinner on sunday which he loves, i just put it on the tray and away he goes lol

Looking at that it doesnt seem he eats much at all but he must be getting all he needs cos he's been on food since 15 weeks and maintained his line just above the 91st percentile.

His poo is like peoples too lol consistency varies with what he eats really

naps - well he isnt that set with his naps he'll sleep for an hour in the morning then sometimes he'll go right through till bed time with no more sleep.

Afternoon ladies,

Just taking a break from my sewing to update today's CC escapades. 1pm nap and we were asleep after 13 minutes, and only 1 minute of crying! He actually fell asleep without his dummy too which I never expected to be a by-product of this so I'm doubly happy. He's also a lot happier in himself as I'm not guessing as to when/if he needs a nap. He's having 2 naps from now on, on a 2hr-3hr-4hr awake schedule. hopefully he'll sleep for a good while as he only had 45mins this morning.

I've actually done some sewing today. I thought seeing as hubby is enjoying himself I shouldn't spend this 'day off' doing housework. I've done some washing and tidying as normal, but I've spent the last hour cutting out patterns, pinning them to the fabric and now I'm just about to start cutting. Earl was helping me too but holding my ruler and playing with the off-cuts of the paper. He's fallen off the sofa twice so far today....both times onto cushions I hasten to add, but I pop him onto it to just get him out of the way of the vacuum or the dog and 30 seconds later he's on the floor again. Thing is, once he's on the floor he wants back up again! :dohh: Jo - I feel your pain lol.

Good morning!

Emma is 7 mths today- is it just me or does time seem to be accelerating? It seems like the first few months went slower than this last month. Emma decided to wake up at 11pm, 1:30, 4, 5, 5:45, and 7am last night. We seem to have a good routine down for daytime naps, but nighttime has turned into a nightmare. I should probably try to move up her bedtime a bit to see if that helps but then hubby wouldn't see Emma at all since he's gone from 5:30am-7:30pm so I'm trying to avoid doing that if possible since I want him to have some time with her. Anyway, Emma's napping now but I think we're going to hit the stores later- it's mother's day here on Sunday and I have to find something for my mum. I have no idea what to get her

Mellie- we BF and BLW so it's a bit harder to say just how much Emma is actually eating/drinking. Her poo is usually squishy (sorry for TMI- just can't think of another way to describe it, lol). For naps, she usually has 2/day, each is about 1hr but occasionally she'll have a 2 hr nap.

Maffie- hope you & Noah has a better night tonight :hugs:

Colsy- Glad to hear things with OH have improved :hugs: Emma is doing the same as Monty, feeding less during the day and waking wayyyyyy more often in the night to feed  I was looking into baby signing classes too but they are pretty far from our house and it'd take me forever on the bus to get there. I settled for a book with a DVD but am really bad at being consistent with using it. The classes look like fun though.

Jo- congrats on passing the test :)

Aimee- Good for you, taking some time for yourself :) I've been trying to use one of Emma's naps to just chill and not do housework/cooking. Emma is obsessed with my sewing projects so I can't work on them while she's awake. She smiles at the sewing machine when we go into that room and fusses until she's on my lap in front of the machine. I tried sewing with her on my lap, but it was too hard since she kept reaching for the fabric, pins and all :)

Anyway, hope we're all well :hugs:
