Wow-a quiet day so far in here! Usually there are a pile of posts for me to read with my morning coffee while Emma wrestles with her Monster and Bunny toys :) I'm feeling refreshed this morning-Emma only woke once last night!!! She even let me sleep til almost 8am and I had a snuggle with the cat for a change. Her naps were total crap yesterday so I'm wondering if part of the problem we've been having with nightwakings is that she's sleeping too much during the day  She's only sleeping 1-1.5hrs for 2 naps which is well within "normal" for her age, but maybe it's too much for her? We're logging her sleep every ten days with the no cry sleep solution, but I'm tempted to log it more often to see if it's the naps that are causing all this grief.

Aimee- I hope your weekend is going well- that the moving is going smooth and you have a nice visit with the in-laws :flower:

Hope everyone is well :hugs:

Afternoon all,

Kaites: Hurray for Emma sleeping better! :happydance:

Aimee: Hope all goes well :flower:

Thanks for the hugs ladies :hugs: I was at breakdown point with this thing yesterday evening, I'm not normally one to feel sorry for myself but it kind of reminded me how lonely I am at home too; I guess there are lots of people out there that have to do the same, just at the time I couldn't cope very well, I just wanted my bed & hot water bottle! Chloe was as good as gold though and she was asleep before I knew it which was good, it was just hard doing simple things like feeding her as she wriggled about and was leaning on my bladder. At least I have my doc appointment today :happydance: I had this bloomin' thing when I was doing my A-Levels but the doc at the time said I was making it up and wouldn't treat me the git :growlmad: He thought I just wanted an excuse to not be in college - I actually like learning!

Evening plans, relax, air dry some of Chloe's clothes and watch Eastenders and a double bill of Ashes to Ashes (series finalie).

:hugs: to all x

Gggr; I hate it when Drs dont take you seriously :(

Kaites, yay for Emma sleeping better! Harry only had 2 wakings last night, once at midnight & once at 5:30, then we got up at 9am, so I am counting that as an excellent night's sleep. He is now totally hyper today & keeps having giggling fits- all I was doing was looking at him from behind the laptop while he was sitting on the floor 'eating' a taggies book, lol. We both ended up in fits of laughter! He has however refused to nap so far today, so I'm expecting a meltdown later this afternoon :dohh:

Have any of you ladies fed your LOs stuff you dont like to eat youirself? I gave Harry some salmon & mash for lunch- I can't stand fish in any form, but I dont want him to be swayed by my likes & dislikes. He seemed to like it, but I really had to stop myself from pulling hideous faces & gagging at the smell, lol. I'm really hoping my fussiness wont rub off on him & that he'll eat anything like OH does.

Also, any of you noticed your babies poo leaks up their back more now that they can sit up? Harry always seems to poo now when he's sat playing on the floor & it squirts right up his back so that when you lay him down to change him, it squeltches up- it's soooo annoying!

Can't say we have that problem Flora. James has quite solid poo so it tends more to get squashed into a little pancake lol.

James was a very naughty boy last night. He refused to go to bed and he would fall asleep on me or OH and then as soon as he was put in his cot he would wake again and roll onto tummy to look at us. In the end nanny cuddled him in and got him to sleep at about 9pm. He then woke at 11.30pm crying but settled with his dummy. He then woke properly at 6am and I had to swaddle him to get him back to sleep but he then settled til 7.45am.

Kte- :hugs: that must have hurt having Chloe pressing on your bladder while feeding. I hope the doc's appt goes well for you. That is terrible that the doc didn't treat you when you were in college- probably makes you more prone to cystitis now too.

Flora- Emma's poop is ever changing now  Sometimes it's like you described and other times is harder, like LK described. I was getting lazy with Emma's breakfasts and giving her fruit and some baby rice/porridge on a pre-loaded spoon but I think all the iron in it made her constipated (regular porridge doesn't have that effect so I'm thinking it's the added iron ) so we're back "adult" breakfasts and all is well with Beanster's poop  I feel like I'm obsessing about sleep and poop these days! I've been trying to get Emma to eat a wide range of stuff too. Emma eats meat but I don't so I guess it's a little bit like you, Harry and the fish :) DH is the picky eater in our house though and Emma is already more adventurous than him. I've been making a point of buying all the veggies that I don't normally cook so we are all getting a bit more variety. We've discovered that roasted celeriac is a new family favourite

LK- we've had nights like that too- frustrating, isn't it? Hope tonight is a better night :hugs:

First nap of the day underway- I forgot to turn on the TV so that there would be background noise to muffle the sounds of me puttering around the house so now I'm tiptoeing around :dohh: Open-concept houses are not designed with sleeping babies in mind...

Aftenoon all, im shattered but Noah doesn't want to sleep  typical

We dont get poo squelching as Noah moans the instant a poo is in his nappy, he doesn't move just winghes until he's changed so it's always perfectly formed little poop not squashed :haha: Will have to find a potty soon.

I will eat most things so Noah does too, although i've decided not to give Noah any meat or fish yet. I think OH is more fussy than me but if i'm cooking he gets what I make, but if he's cooking I oversee the operation to make sure its done the way I like it (bad I know)

Cant wait for bed tonight, OH is home but he's in bed as he worked over night so im looking forward to him getting up, will probably be after Noah goes to bed though :dohh:

lol, it's the first time Harry's had fish, so it'll be interesting to see if it has an effect on his nappies! He's had a little bit of chicken (seemed to like it) & had an Ella's Kitchen roast lamb stage 2 pouch while we were away camping & loved that (I think it was the mint sauce factor he liked) but I haven't given him any other meats as finger/blw food yet, as I very rarely cook meat. (I was vegetarian from the age of 7 & only started eating chicken & turkey when I was 19 and other meat since hubby moved in with me at the flat 3 years ago, so I'm not very adventurous with meat & dont really know what i'm doing with it!) Veges on the other hand i am a pro at (LOVE VEGE!) so Harry eats a lot of that. So far he's not a fan of sweet potato or carrots, but is happy to have a go at everything else, and fruit he is a fiend with all of it! He's loving salad at the moment & doing well with bread.
Can babies have jelly? I have a bit of a craving for jelly/jello, lol. In fact, what I really want in a big massive trifle

yep, im making a point of feeding sam stuff me and oh dont like. OH is the fussiest person ive ever met in my life lol he loves to eat absolute crap, he's still stick thin though despite what he eats lol

I cant stand lamb, the smell or taste, even more so the smell of it cooking but i cooked sam lamb, carrot and sweet potato casserole and he loves it, i try not to pull faces at the smell as i dont want to put him off.

Sam has now discovered that he can open the drawers in the kitchen when he's scooting round in his walker, little bugger!! I didnt think id have to babyproof the kitchen just yet.

OH is off back home to wales on sunday to do a few jobs, he's getting paid holiday pay and for these jobs He wanted to take sam with him to stay away for 5 days, not a bloody chance!!! I hate leaving him to go to work so i wasnt gonna be separated from him for 5 days and nights!

I passed my english essay level 2 (GCSE Equivalent) i did it on breast v formula and my tutor said it was really good :) now onto level 3 english which is A level equivalent!

Congrats Jo :amartass:

Flora I love meat but still cook loads of veggie meals, although im partial to a rare steak (hot pan put it in turn it over take it out) OH says it might as well be mooing :haha:

Noah has niggled all day and he's finally fallen asleep, hopefully will be able to change nappy and feed and to bed in an hour without too much upset. His mouth is sharp top and bottom all way round. It feels like loads of teeth are trying to come through.

Kaites love the new avatar pic, cool toy Emma has too

Flora: Chloe often comes home in her spare clothes! MMMMM trifle!

I eat lots of veg but I haven't been very good at getting it all in and using it in meals. I have given Chloe a few. I tried to be veggie once but I just like my meat, well chicken and fish mainly, i'm fussy with meat though, only like certain types and textures. I decided to make more of an effort now I have Chloe, she loves butter nut squash, she thought carrot was amazing at first but now isn't so impressed - think it will need to accompany other things. My mum calls me a fruit bat too, wish it wasn't so darn expensive, well its not really but seriously if I buy some in its all gone the next day!

Jo: Congrat's on your English :happydance:  x

Kaites: Loving your new avatar picture, Emma looks really cute. :flower:

MAffie: Hope Noah has settled for you now :flower:

Doc gave me some antibiotics to take until Mon, he said it should clear it up but if not I have to go back Mon. He asked me for a sample so off I went to the surgery loo, I had Chloe with me so I was telling her I have become a pro at pee'ing in the little pots because of her

Right, bottle time before Ashes to Ashes.

:hugs: all

my best friend had beef like that as her wedding meal, i'd had a few wines and told her that it was still grazing on the vegetables on my plate lol

 I could just eat that now

Evening all, another quiet weekend! Hope everyone and their LO's are well.

Anything with blood in is a no-no for me! Even cooked blood like black pudding  so 'blue meat' is defo out of the question lol

It is another quiet weekend here!

BIL is over atm and the boys are in the basement, blasting The Pacific on the home theatre- it's like living in a war zone  Emma is having a late nap- spent most of the afternoon out and since hubby finally has a whole weekend off, Emma's extra happy and social, not wanting to let daddy out of her sights but getting completely tuckered out in the process. I hope it doesn't mess with her nighttime sleeping too much :dohh: We have the other bottom front tooth just hiding under the gums now- I wouldn't be surprised if it was cutting through tomorrow. I just hope it doesn't affect her mood too badly since it's my dad's birthday tomorrow and my aunt and uncle are visiting from Toronto and meeting Emma for the first time.

Flora- mmmmm... trifle... yum! I don't know if babies can have jelly  I don't think Jello would be too good for them, with all the sugar (or sweetener) and artificial colours/flavours, but other than that, it's just gelatin and that's probably okay. I'm sure homemade stuff with just gelatin and fruit juice would be okay though.

Jo- congrats on the English testing!

Maffie- I hope Noah's teeth aren't bothering him too badly- sounds like he's decided to get it over with quickly and cut all his teeth at once!

Kte- hope the antibiotics are working and you are feeling better today :hugs:

Well, I'm going to grab the baby monitor and join the boys. I just hope I don't go deaf from all the noise :haha: Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

i was expecting lots of posts on here! Where is everyone?

Well, Harry has only woken up once during the night for the past 2 nights! :happydance: He has also dropped 2 of his daytime feeds all of a sudden & his poop has gone a little bit more solid, so I guess he must be eating more of his solids & I think the crappy sleeping was hunger related maybe?

We got some of the garden done yesterday & we're planning on buying one of those little slides & a baby swing for the summer out there soon. I also did a couple of coats of paint on the ceiling in our spare room, but it still needs another tbh, so that's my job today. OH changed the taps in the bathroom & then we had a big Chinese meal with some friends last night :) Got to go to The Range today to get harry a blackout blind for his room (it's crazy how light it is in there!) & a blind for the bathroom coz i am paranoid n convinced I'm being watched when I have a shower! :dohh:

Kaites, have a great time in Toronto! I have a friend who lives near Thunder Bay. My geography is shickingly bad, so I've no idea it that's anywhere near there, but oh well!

Kte are you feeling any better?

Maffie, my OH likes his meat rare- he is an excellent cook thankgod, so when it comes to meat, he does it all- including the choosing of it all, because he says I suck at choosing the 'right' meat, whatever that's meant to mean?

Colsy- I remember you saying you gave Monty some lentils. How did you serve them? I love lentils, but I usually do them ina thick, chunky soup or add then to a vege curry, but i dont think Harry could deal with that just yet, but I'd like to give them to him, but not sure how, iykwim?

Has anypone heard anything from Eswift recently? I hope she's ok?

I left a message on eswifts FB but looks like she's not been on in a while, was a bit worried about her status on there :hugs:

Ive just been sorting Noah's clothes (newborn to 0-3) put away what im keeping and a pile to sell. Alot of what I bought is suitable for boy or girl so tats handy.

Not much happening this weekend apart from tidying. Noah had another bad night I think its still the teeth. He enjoyed sharing the bed with me from just after 4 this morning. Im so tired but think thats down to the pregnancy as well

Fleur i made Sam lentil bake from annabel karmel book

2oz onions
4oz carrots
.5oz celery (i missed that out)
2oz lentils
vegetable oil
8oz sweet potato
14fl oz of veg/chicken stock/water

saute onions carrots and celery in veg oil for about 5 mins. add the lentils and sweet potato an pour over water or stock. bring to boil, turn down and simmer, covered with a lid for 20 minutes. puree/mash to right consistency.

Sam loves this! It makes about 5 portions (depending on how much baby eats) and it can be frozen :)

Evening all,

Kaites - Hope your dad has a nice birthday and the family visits are good :flower:

Flora - I saw an inflatable ball pool I want to get Chloe for summer . . if we get a summer! I finally got some sun cream and cute hats so I dare take her outside now lol Your garden sounds nice.

Maffie - Good luck selling the clothes, I tried to sell some on here and I sold a few things but miscalculated the postage, made £8 in total and postage came to £6! :dohh: The rest I am just going to bag up and send to a charity shop - I can't be bothered listing anywhere like ebay as there is a bin bag full and I know I will end up paying a fortune in fee's. I did contemplate a car boot but I'm not up for that on my own really, 4am start again too . . .nah! I just want the space now!

Jo - thanks for the recipe too  (I always thought lentils took longer to cook! )

Hope everything is okay with Eswift, I didn't see her status but then again I not been on fully since last week.

Feeling better thanks but I got a rash from the antibiotics! Still have two left to take as well. Its on my arms and even better - my face!

Chloe had a weird blister on her lip earlier . . . couldn't figure out what it was. Think it might be something she did it on a teether toy. She seems fine otherwise.

Had Nij's parents over again today to see Chloe. His Dad is always adamant she should be crawling, I said she hates being on her tummy and doesn't want to crawl so he siad 'you don't know if you don't try'. I just ignored it, I'm not putting Chloe on her tummy and stressing her out to prove it to him . . . but then when he had her later on he did! I was so mad! Poor Chloe started to stress then so he finally learnt. Why oh why can't they just listen sometimes!

I really really need chocolate tonight!
