Jo, how'd the walker break? Harry has the same one that my sis gave him, so now I'm worrying his will break too. I hope you have some luck with getting a replacement cotbed from those idiots. I would use the cut on his face to my advantage, lol, and make a sob story up too to guarentee they take it seriously & get soemthing sorted asap.

well he fell through the walker again today, upon closer inspection i think we didnt pull the straps through properly. They're supposed to be turned 90 degrees but they werent (Bad parents!) so everytime he got over excited and started jumping around it loosened the straps and pulled them through making the seat fall down.

I was livid earlier about the cotbed woman. She really didnt give a shit, when she told me to send a photo i said in my stroppy voice "yes i will and i will be sending you a photo of my sons face where he cut it from the cot falling!"

Happy Tuesday!

Hope everyone is well. It's another insanely hot day here (31C and with humidity, feels like 37C ) so we're staying inside. I caved and let hubby turn on the A/C so at least we're comfy. I wanted to go out and enjoy the sunshine but Emma has a bit of a rash on her arms and I'm not too sure what it's from- sunscreen is on my list of possible culprits so we're playing inside today. I hope it's not the sunscreen though- that would make for an awkward time this summer. Emma is having a really long nap atm- she's been down for almost 2 hrs which is unheard of for her. I should probably decide on what to make for dinner before Emma wakes, but procrastination has set in

Jo- I hope the company is more helpful once you've sent pics. That's terrible- I'd have been livid too!

Colsy- hope your solo parenting day went well Still no AF here but like Flora, I'm breaking out too and I had that familiar crampy feeling last week. Oh well, If it does come back soon I can't really complain- it's been a nice, long AF-free run, lol.

Flora- hope the decorating goes well!

Kte- glad to hear your parents are coming round for a bit of support Hope you are taking care of yourself.

Kaites: Oh yes am I worried about the teenage years! My colleague has a 16 year old and some of the stuff she tells me! Her daughter is by no means a huge rebel and mother and daughter have a good relationship but she still gets up to things! I was was quite a good girl really, I wasn't really into giving my parents grief as they went through and awful lot with my older sister who rebelled at every possible moment My middle sister and I just plodded along together, she is the one I mention on here, don't usually talk about the other one! When I was 15 I was allowed to go out to nightclubs until 3am, I had a pretty good head on my shoulders though and my parents, well my Mum, said she was doing the same things so couldn't really stop me, I just had to be sensible or I would of had my wings clipped. I used to have a whole night out on £10 thinking about it So after all that what I mean to say is, I kind of hope I install good morals and guidelines into Chloe so that she can have fun but be sensible about it too.

Shame about your pool Chloe got a little rash on her arm, i'm not sure if it's more a sweat rash though (I thought it was cream but its not on other parts of her body where I applied it) it's very similar to the rash on her chin, - now that she is a drool monster its always red and sore so constantly drying it and applying rash creme.

Jo: Poor Sam! I hope the company sorts them selves out and treats you better. Im still shocked, how on earth they haven't dealt with this better. Was that the complaints department too? I'd be tempted to try and contact a complaints manager about it and how rubbish the member of staff was Yeah he came over once he finished his shift for a bit before my parents came.

Colsy: Glad the lone mum trial is/has gone well I'm not officially single no, huge messy complicated madness. It's come close a zillion times if that is even a word but you get my meaning!

Flora: Where do you get all your energy / motivation with the decorating! It had an MOt not so long back so if its down to them being dodgy I will not be happy! The car has seemed fine before usually, looks a right ugly mug now bless it.

RE AF, sorry TMI maybe, I was so happy when I was pregnant that I would miss 9 months of them but I ended up with just over 10 weeks postnatal bleeding so that made me catch up and some! I too was disappointed those lovely spots have come back Hope the first one / ones go easy on you all (okay end of odd conversation lol)

My parents were great, gave me some advice and made me some nice food, well for all of us. It was nice to have the company too and Chloe loved having Nanna and Grandad over too

Ha, I have no energy or motivation, it's more the fact that I am sooooo sick of living out of boxes upstairs & having cables n stuff trailing about the house & I'm cacking it that Harry will be crawling before we get it all done. Plus, with hubby being away most tues-thurs for work, i got nothing better to do, so I figure I may as well try to get it all done. I have however just broken the damn vaccum cleaner picking up all the plaster bits & wood dust etc... I'm now taking it to bits to see if I can clean it all & see if it's blocked or something, coz I really cant afford a new one right now coz we just ordered our new wardrobes. (bargain; 2 triple sized wardrobes with mirror, wardrobe, shelves & 2 drawers that fit perfectly in the alcoves either side of the chimney breasts for £350 including delivery... god I love search engines!)

Harryhas completely changed his sleeping pattern. He's now dead to the world by 7pm, wakes jup between 11 & 1, then again between 4 & 6, then I bring him in with me & have some cuddles until he looks sleepy again, feed him & he sleeps again till about 9am Then naps just after lunch for an hour, then again for about 40mins just before Simpsons, lol. It's HEAVEN!


Q: with the hotter weather, has anyone else's babies changed their feeding patterns? Harry seems to only want breakfast & booby the last couple of days & the rest of the time is either content with nothing, or has a quick booby snack. I'm still offering him food I know he likes, but he's not interested. I suppose as long he's still having booby it's not a problem. I guess he just feels more thirsty rather than hungry? I also had a breakthru with the water- I put a bottle teat on his TT beaker thingy with the handles & he seemed much more willing to try it- he managed to drink about 1.5oz, altho most of that went out as dribble, lol, but hey, it's progress!

Also, I bough Harry these wkd bibs- they look like bandanas in funky styles & colours- jersey material on the front & fleece on the back so the dribble doesn't soak through onto their clothes- they look so cool & work a treat I think the lady has a website, so I may just search for some more coz I only got him 3 & now I want more, lol!

Am I right in thinking the amount of crying a baby does increases around this age? I am sure I read that somewhere but can't remember where. Maybe it's related to the separation anxiety thing?

Those of you who've done transition from one cot or bed to another, did you begin with daytime naps or full-on bedtime? Or do it all in one go? When you did it with daytime naps, did you find that baby tended to have shorter than usual naps because he was somewhere different? We had soooo got the hang of daytime napping, but it feels like it's seriously gone out the window all of a sudden - we've gone from at least two naps of an hour and a half each plus maybe another shorter one, to one about an hour long if we're lucky plus maybe a short one later on. I can't tell whether this is due to the bed transition or whether it's just Monty getting older and needing less sleep. Thing is, he is getting pretty crabby in the afternoons, which is why I am thinking his naps may be not enough. But if anybody has the secret to forcing a tired baby to nap, then they can probably make a huge amount of money, LOL! (Bit like finding the Holy Grail that is the treatment for colic.)

Flora, not sure whether Monty is eating less ... well, you know he went on nursing strike, so yes, in that sense he definitely ate less. I think with solids he's eating about the same as before. (Loves pineapple by the way - new food for today.) TBH I have so lost track of routines (not that we EVER had one) and schedules this past few weeks that I can't really remember whether his eating is the same or different. I think the main thing during the hot weather is drinking, so be pleased with yourself that you've got Harry using his cup.

Quiet in here, ain't it? I think we're losing Bumpkins as the babies get older. Seems a shame after we've all been through so much together.

Happy Wednesday!

We're still having more inside time since it is crazy hot outside still. Emma still has her rash and I'm actually starting to suspect ringworm She now has a couple of small, round red spots on her arms that are getting flakey in the middle- looks like ringworm to me but DH isn't convinced. I'm a bit horrified, tbh- she bathes twice daily (thanks to the messiness of BLW) and always has clean clothes, bedding, etc. and the house is good and clean so the thought of her having a fungal infection creeps me right out. She doesn't seem itchy though and ringworm is supposed to be super itchy Argh- if it's not one thing, it's another with babies! I'll have to call the doc for an appt after lunch I guess. I've started treating it with lavender oil (supposed to be a natural remedy for fungal infections and gentle on babies) in the meantime.

Kte- Glad to hear you and Chloe had a nice visit with your parents. Hope you are having a better day today

Flora- I think Emma is eating less solids too but that might be my doing since I tend to eat less when it's hot too. She's been napping more in the heat too and it seems like whenever I've planned to have lunch, she's usually passed out and I don't want to disturb her.

Colsy- We moved Emma to her cot for nighttime first. We are trying to keep things flexible for her naps so sometimes she'll sleep in the cot, sometimes in the pack n play in the basement and most of the time on our bed. We're hoping that by keeping it flexible, she'll sleep okay in different places when we travel- who knows if it'll work though, lol We had a rough few weeks when we moved her to her room though and her sleep is still a little all over the place- she'll drop one nap of the day for a few days and then suddenly start taking longer ones again As long as I'm not feeling sleep-deprived, I'm happy to go with the flow for now.

Good evening folks - just a quickie before hubby demands his tea lol

Earl is 7 months old today!! We did his weights and measures and he's 23lb 1oz, 29inches long and 18.5inches head circ. 90th %ile all round! He's put on 1lb 10oz this month and grown 4cm! I knew it had been a big month - he's almost out of his 9-12 grows that were massive on him at 6 months! In honour of the occasion we went shopping and bought his entire 12-18 wardrobe as well as a big chunk of his 18-24 stuff as well. Spent far too much money but, what the hey everything nowadays is expensive. He also got a new book and a toy train - all within budget but no money left for his next stage toys....looks like they'll have to wait until he actually needs them lol or maybe ebay.

Hope everyone is well...I seem to be here there and everywhere at the moment. Got an absolute mountain of paperwork to do tomorrow to sign off on the house and re-distribute the bills for the end of the month - I hate this bit of moving

Chaos - I hope Autumn is feeling better

Colsy - Earl is certainly getting more vocal. He was sat copying hubby earlier - first time he's done that, so only so much time now until we start getting words forming. So exciting, especailly with him getting so mobile now too...granted it's all backwards, but at least he's getting somewhere. He's actually learnt to get to things by going backwards....scary biscuits!

Kte - I agree with you about instilling the morals. I think with us having a boy I'm a little bit more confident as I know what hubby was like growing up, and also, as a Mum, yes I may get a bit more abuse from a boy, but at least his guidance comes from his dad in the 'relationships' department.

Sorry if I've missed anything important. Not very good at keeping up these days. Too much else getting in the viewfinder.

Happy 7mths Earl!!

Okay, so we went to the doctor's this afternoon and I'm glad to report that Emma does not have ringworm <insert huge sigh of relief>. It's just one nasty case of eczema so we have a prescription for hydrocortisone and it looks like it was probably the sunscreen afterall that caused all this grief. Doctor suggested longsleeve clothing all summer- like that is practical- grrr! Went shopping with my Mum looking for some kind of longsleeve cover-up that is still lightweight and couldn't find one so I suppose I'll be getting creative with the sewing machine. PITA but I guess it's better than a super contagious infection! I also bought a regular paddling pool for Emma- can't wait to try it In other news, Emma bit me 3 times today She fell over onto her face while reaching for a toy and I think she bit her tongue so she was latching on, baring teeth instead of covering her teeth with her tongue. Turned into this vicious circle of her crying for boob, me offering it, me getting bitten, me yelping, startled baby crying for boob Seems okay now though. Anyway, I better get back to prepping dinner while Emma is asleep. Hope we're all well

Kaites, glad it wasn't ringworm but shame its eczema. Like you can keep her in long sleeved tops in the warm weather I'll try and ask my sis tomorrow - remind me if i forget, scatter brain at the mo - to ask my sister if she has any tips. my nephew has bad eczema, has to have a bath in some special stuff for his skin. she gone to bed now tho otherwise I would of asked her now

Quick update to say James now weighs 16lb 15oz. Still a little tiddler but following the 25th centile line so HV isn't worried.

Just quick, Kaites I have a friend whos little girl is allergic to sun cream .. I'll have to ask what one she uses for her. Also you might want to check some natural food stores as they generally will stock some kind of more natural sun cream that might work.

That's a good idea re: natural food store I'll have to take a walk over when the heat has lessened a bit. We were using Aveeno Baby sunscreen, but obviously there is something in it that just doesn't agree with her skin And to think we bought Aveeno because we thought it would be more gentle than some of the other brand names out there

Morning all, i'm not online much at the moment as Noah and myself have come to stay with my family. Just a little break as OH is snowed under with work at the moment and i'm shattered at the moment with the pregnancy. Not told my folks yet though so trying to hide the sickness


Jo hope Sam is ok after the cot broke. Is it a branded one? Items need tyo be fit for purpose so if you get no where i'd contact trading standards.

kaites hope you find whats caused Emma's rash, could it be heat rash? Noah was covered in that yesterday.

I must say I quite like not having the periods and im enjoying not being too sick so far i this pregnancy

Hope everyone is having a good day! My parents dropped round for another visit- I actually like when they pop by since it gives Emma someone else to interact with for a while and she's always all smiles for grandma and grandpa. Now if I didn't have Emma, then I think the surprise visits would drive me mad Emma's passport arrived today so we're all ready to travel- just need money for the travel, lol I think we might go camping in the Adirondacks this summer so her passport will get used then Not much else new here- might play in the paddling pool when Emma wakes from her nap

Kte- I hope Chloe is okay! If it is chicken pox, hopefully she won't be too itchy Thanks for checking with your sister for me I'll take a look for the Nivea stuff. I don't think we have Oilatum here but I'm sure the pharmacist can recommend something. We switched her bath wash recently too so that may have also made the situation worse. I'm pretty sure it's the sunscreen though since the eczema is pretty much everywhere that I applied the cream

Maffie- hope you are having a nice visit at your parents and that they are spoiling you and Noah

Its going around the nursery and they pointed out a few spots to me, so maybe the sweat rash wasn't a sweat rash after all! She has been totally fine otherwise so I never suspected! Off to the docs again tomorrow to get it confirmed!

Ooo enjoy the pool. Sounds a nice visit from your parents. I dunno, I think now I am a parent I seem to enjoy being my parents kid again iykwim. Love them, they came again yesterday and keep checking on me.

Kte my chloe had chicken pox at about 6 months too and she was fine in herself just the spots, luckily she didnt have too many so it didnt irritate her too much. the dr did tell me that she may get it again (as she was so young) when she's older but she's 10 now and still not had it back

I am a little bit exciteed folks. I've managed to have a pretty productive day.....ooh brb, Earl's awake!

Back now. Earl has had a whole hour and a quarter nap and I've managed to do lots of stuff. Washing, 3 loads, letters, all done and just need printing, business logo designed.

I was doing the dishes last night and hubby was helping me try to think of a name for the business I've been wanting to do for ages. I was willing to give up if I hadn't thought of anything by Tuesday (1st June). Hubby came up with a brilliant name. 'Historically Correct' - I love it, and the logo is done, and I hope that you like it.

Anyway, best be off. Earl had a rather potent dinner last night (fish fingers and brocolli followed by banana rice pudding) and i'm paying for it now! Something a little more bland tonight lol

Have a lovely day guys. We're off out for a walk I think, There's a large cloud threatenign to clock out the sun shine so we'd best go now or we'll be disappointed!
