Jo: It's not really fair your Mum overruling you in that kind of situation, you did right taking all her privileges! I mean your getting lip and she only ten, need sorting before she gets a little older. Oo you reminded me I MUST wash George (Chloe's little Giraffe teddy) once she had her nap, I don't know how he gets so grubby!

Maffie: Sorry to hear the MS has kicked in badly :hugs: Chloe has had 2 naps this morning, I'm just plodding on, can never really get back to sleep one I woken an and Earthly-ish hour. Had a nice shower to help wake me up! Hope Noah doesn't have any more nose bleed trouble, might be because its warm, when I was little I got them all the time, i'm a pro when it comes to dealing with them now! Would still freak me out a little seeing LO with it though! :flower:

I had a random but great business idea last night, I was thinking about all us Mum's out there who want to tone up or just feel good etc. I was just thinking how I would love to go to the gym but would be nice if Chloe could go too. So my idea that popped into my head was kind of splicing a gym with a baby centre . . . so you get classes like baby yoga, a play area but then also a gym where parents (not just Mum's, don't want to be biased) can go on treadmills etc with pram or similar with LO in it near them. There could be a feeding area / changing area etc. Also there could be lots of advice and support for all sorts. Would be a good networking place too. Could be a whole mix. Gym and childcare in one. lol Shame I have no clue about either of these sectors!

Kte - I basically do the CC during the night if his dummy isn't keeping him down. I will try the dummy, then the water once, then the dummy once. Normally these work but the other night he was having none of it. It took 18 mins to get him down which at 3am is not fun, but he slept throgh for another 3 hours after that, so we both got a decent ampount of sleep. I use the CC every day for night and naps. The thing is that most of the time there is no crying involved nowadays, but it's useful if he's in 'one of them' that he knows the drill and I can stay in control. The other morning he just would not sleep and it took me over an hour to get him to have his nap.....but I ust kept plodding on rather than getting worked up.

Earl is like that with the food too....big dinner with dessert and still was taking all the milk lol. He didn't need it, it was entirely habit! Last night he had his 1 bottle at 10 and then didn't wake up til 5am! He then took a dummy for another 45mins before waking up for the day just before 6. I can handle that - and only 4 days after cutting out his feeds overnight.....I think we're getting there lol.

Morning girls,

Eh yesterday was rough, mama running on no sleep and a snot filled baby.
It's just the tail end of a cold, she's in the wars at the moment, that virus, then a tooth, then a cold. I aint slept thru the night in 10 days lol. Although she slept thru the last 2 nights thank God, so I know she's feeling better when she does that.
She's not actually sick now, its just drainage .. so much drainage, and then when she lays down to sleep it irritates her and makes her cough.

I've asked my family to send me over a box of Carvol cause I used to love that stuff when I had a cold, can't get it here!

She seems a lot less snotty today, which is good as we're having family pictures taken!!

Kte ~I'm glad you're feeling better with situation at home. He better be thankful with in an inch of his soul tho and not keep hurting you or Chloe .. You're a kinda hearted trustful person. :hugs:

Maffie ~ Don't you just hate that when they get you up at the crack of dawn and are jumping beans all day?? Hope you feel a bit better soon.

Jo ~ Oh thats gotta be frustrating re you Mum. Just think in about 20 years you'll be able to get your own back on Chloe and do it to her kids ;)

So, cause she's been sick shes got a bit of a nasty nappy rash .. normal butt cream aint doing much for her so I was doing some research yesterday. Coconut oil is supposed to be really good for it! I'm going to get some over the weekend and try it .. I'd love it if it worked cause its all natural. I'll let yous know how it goes!

Okie gotta get ready for these pics!

Kte, I'm glad to hear things at home are going more smoothly :hugs:

Chaos, the only things that clears up my nephew's 'butt aids' as my cousin calls it (nice, hey?!) is this stuff called Vasogen; nothing else worked, but this stuff was amazing. harry's only had nappy rash once & it cleared up in 2 days (last week) just leting air to him bum... granted he peed all over the floor a couple of times & soaked through a few towels, but at least he aint sore anymore, lol.

Jo, that would royally pee me off having your mum undermind you like that. If it's any consolation I was an absolute bitch to my mum from about age 10-19, when she finally had enough & kicked me out, and that firm approach was finally the best thing she did & we have a much better relationship now. I was a horrible teenager, pushing boundries, swearing, trashing my room, slapping my siblings etc... boredom was a big part of it (we lived middle of nowhere & i refused to do activities n stuff, so in boredom I would deliberately piss my mum off just for something to do)... I'm surprised she didn;t punch me in the face a few times just to get me to shut up :dohh: Be firm & consistent, she'll look back on it & feel embarrassed by treating you badly.

Harry slept through the night again :happydance: and while he had a 2hr (!!!) nap this afternoon I managed to get some more of the gloss painting done on the door frames so I can re-hang the downstairs doors once it's dry. I also started putting together our new wardrobes lastnight... but now they are too heavy for me to move :dohh: so they're just laying on the floor until Craig gets back & can help me stand them up & move them into the alcoves... dammit.

anyways... I am DYING for a cuppa! Have a great weekend everyone! :)

Morning all,

Well Chloe was awake at 6.30 today, not too bad but I could of done with a mini lie in after the other few nights. She started up again last night so at around 1-ish she was crying so much I took her into her own room. We are decorating the bedroom soon so I was planning on moving her in there within the next few days anyway. I popped her in her cot and she rolled over and fell asleep, no fuss and no dummy! That was it until I popped in to check her when Nij went to work, I gave her her usual 3am feed and that was it until she decided she was ready for the day. So she is now officially in her own room! :happydance:

Chaos: How did the photo shoot go?

Flora: Aww and you were so looking forward to not living from bags!

Aimee: 4 days, not bad going at all! Hope the moving is going well, oh and good luck for that PA job!

Hope everyone is okay :flower: x

I can't believe my eyes/ears! There is a singing turtle, Guinea pig and chick on TV; they want to save some meerkats. Kids TV  Kaites is that teddy Emma has in your avatar from a programme called 'Yo Gabba Gabba'? I saw it on Nick Jr & thought I recognised it!

Holiday sounds lovely! Glad it was a success!

Have a few questions I keep in meaning to ask you all!

Q1:Okay so now we can give out LO's drinks in sippy cups as well as bottles can I ask what types of drinks you are giving your LO's in there? I know now she is older I can give her tap water (so long as milk and milk bottles are sterilised) other stuff is okay to give her as normal now, its just I don't know what to give her! Daft I know! She isn't keen on just plain water no matter how much I try. I want something nice for her but just not sure what!

Plus I have been given an array of cups and she just doesn't get the hang of them yet, she chews one and gets juice all over her. I know she is just playing and learning, I think if the drink was more interesting she might try and drink from it a bit more.

This leads me to Q2: What kind of teeth hygiene regimes have people got? Do you use a baby toothbrush yet with tooth paste, morning and night or after a meal or just once at night etc. I have yet to get to the dentist yet, they kept faffing about with the appointment and its not until the 16th June. She obv has things to chew on to help with her oral hygiene but now her teeth are here and she is on solids I'm worried!

Thanks :flower:

p/s Happy 8 Months Harry and Emma! :happydance:

Formula is sweet, so she's used to sweet liquid. If she's thirsty she will drink the water. Autumn aint really happy about water but when she's really thirsty, she'll drink it. As for sippy cup, I've got her this one to transition from cup to bottle. She's been using it since 4 months. https://www.nuk-usa.com/products/c-10$p-68/learner-cup-silicone.aspx

You can't use toothpaste on a baby before they are 2 as they eat it. Ped told me just to either just wipe her gums/teeth with a wet cloth or get a baby tooth brush and gently rub with it. I did the latter, and in fact she likes to rub the bristles over her teeth/gums by her self. We do it each night in the bath. I get my tooth brush and do the same action in front of her.

Hi girls. Sorry I've not been on for a few days but been majorly hectic trying to sort out the move and working etc. But have some very exciting news. James has learnt 2 new tricks. He can now pull himself to standing which he thinks is immensely clever and grins at me every time he does it. And....he signed 'more' today :happydance: I've been doing baby signing with him and we do the signs for more, milk, drink, food, mummy, daddy and all finished. He was having some juice and I thought he was done so put the cup down and he got all grumpy and signed 'more' lol. Not perfect obviously but I was so excited and as was he when he got what he wanted lol.

Don't have time to read through all the posts but just wanted to say to Kte - I was told by the dentist to use a baby toothbrush and baby toothpaste and brush his teeth twice daily. I have to admit I'm not great at doing it twice a day but James has his teeth brushed every day with a tiny smear of toothpaste on his little brush. He only has 2 teeth but its important to get him used to having them brushed. We use the free tube of baby toothpaste that came in his Bounty pack.

p/s Happy 8 Months Harry and Emma! :happydance:

Thanks for the happy 8mths :)

Re the drinks. I only offer Harry ebm or water. He hates the water & I've tried every cup out there :dohh: He also refuses to drink anything at all unless he's laid down, lol. HV told me just to keep offering the water & eventuially he'll get used to it. He will drink ebm from a TT sippy valve cup thing, but mainly, he just tries to chew the spout bit! With the water though, my HV said instead of giving sweet juices or acidic drinks, try getting a pice of fruit like an apple or a pear, peeling it & putting it in a sieve, then pour boiling water over it. The water takes some of the flavouring of the fruit ever-so-slightly, which can help babies drink it & get used to new flavours, but without it damaging their teeth or giving them a sweet tooth.

Re toothbrushing... I have a little baby toothbrush & some of the 'milk teeth' 0-3 toothpaste, but as yet haven't actually used either coz he has no teeth... Instead I've just been wiping his gums in the morning & before he goes to bed, which he thinks is hilarious for some reason. I know lots of people who dont use paste though coz their LOs eat it...

Kte - I give Theo orange juice, I put about 1 part juice, 5 parts water...really weak pure orange juice but they don't know the difference? Gives it a bit of flavour. We just use a TT cup, its something like £1? Theo gets on great with it, however it does get thrown everywhere as he likes to shake the cup :haha:

On the tooth front, Theo only has 1 tooth so far, another one is just about to poke through, so think we might start introducing him to a toothbrush soon. We was told no toothpaste till 2yrs also, and not to use the baby toothpastes but a Colgate fluoride one, we was given some for Grace when we had a 9m check with the HV....Grace loves it, tries to eat it :dohh:

x

Morning all been offline for a few days so not had chance to catch up. Just having a quick browse before I need to set off for hospital. Scan today then consultant tomorrow (you'd thik they could get them on the same day) :dohh:

Kte i wish Sam had some teeth to brush lol When chloe was a baby i used tiny bit of baby toothpaste and cleaned her teeth twice a day.

Just out of interest am i the only one with a baby with no teeth whatsoever yet?? Poor baby has been teething since 10 weeks and still no teeth, not even poking through a tiny bit! Mind you chloe had her teeth late, she walked at 9.5 months but had no teeth till much later, maybe sam will be the same.

Flora we have that cup for sam and he's more into chewing the spout too lol

Morning ladies, I just wanted to say a very quick hello. Some of you may have seen I've posted a couple of queries in other BnB sections today, so I thought I better pop in here quickly to say that I am still alive and kicking despite the awful nights we've had these past two weeks, but I just have not yet got round to doing a proper Bumpkins post. OH couldn't have picked a worse time to go away, he honestly couldn't. It wasn't his fault of course, it was just the way it all worked out. And it wasn't OH being away that caused Monty's sleep patterns to go up the wall, as they actually went pear-shaped before OH had gone away. I'll do a full report in the next day or so, but for now I do want to say hello to you all, I hope you're all well and happy, and I look forward to getting back into the swing of life a la Bumpkins ASAP. Love y'all xx

Mornin'!!

Well I got paid for letting lil miss stay up a bit later last night till 8, she had me up at 530!! Why don't I learn? lol. When ever she stays up past 7 she seems to be unsettled for the night and up early, but she was being so good and having fun playing last night! Ah well. We went for a walk around the neighbourhood at 7am before it got too hot for the day (its in the 90's at the moment with 100% humidity, ick) and it got her off back to sleep for a while!

LK ~ Hope you're settling in with the move. WTG James!! We're working on 'milk' sign at the moment. Most the time when I do it, she just looks at me as if I'm ******** lol.

Maffie ~ Good luck at the scan!!

Jo ~ My friends little girl didn't get any teeth till after her 1st Birthday, then she got like 8 in a couple months!

Colsy ~ When does he come home?

So on the tooth front, lil miss finally let me check out her top tooth today. That makes 3. I guess it's not hurting any more. Poor lil mite, the area where it came thru was SO purple and bruised looking when it was trying to cut. Anywho, here it is! Please excuse the crusty nose

Colsy ~ When does he come home?

Came back Fri afternoon. Been making night-time sleeping plans, and going on family walks and grocery shopping trips all weekend, hence not been on BnB. More later. xx

Jo, Harry has zero teeth... He shows signs of teething every couple of weeks that last a couple of days, bhut then nothing  I guess they'll come in their own sweet time!

Chaos, great pic, lol!

Colsy, I've had the opposite with Harry- whenever OH works away, Harry is the best little sleeper in the world. :dohh:

Gotta dash as I'm being harrassed by a spider in my lounge today & it's freaking me out, so I'm spending most of the day upstairs. I managed to get one of the wardrobes upright, so now have to wiggle it into the alcove & get it sorted so I can start putting my clothes away. have just taken one binliner full to the charity shop & a big box of maternity clothes have just been put up in the attic for whenever next time is. I think I may still have too many clothes to fit (even though it's a triple sized wardrobe with shelves & 2 drawers, dammit). Anyways.......

Jo Noah has no teeth but I can feel them under the surface. I thought some would of come by now as he's teething loads.

Scan went well but size doesnt match up with dates (I didnt even have :sex: when they say I must of conceived )

I'm having a 2nd dating scan in 4 weeks time.

Good afternoon!

How was everyone's weekend? Ours was good- we had fun at the hotel. Emma has turned into quite the little swimmer, kicking her legs and trying to paddle her arms (more of a wave really, but she's trying). Emma learned how to stand up on her own on Saturday. Little monkey learned to stand in the bathtub of all places- could she have picked a more dangerous place?! :dohh: She got onto her knees and then pulled herself up to standing using the side of the tub and now won't sit for baths- argh! I need to go buy some kind of non-slip mat or stickers for the bottom of our tub before she falls and knocks out her teeth. We started our baby signing class this morning. It was fun- mostly just a lot of songs but it was good since it's helped motivate me a bit more with the signing since I haven't been too consistent lately.

Flora- Emma's rash cleared up, thanks for asking :) We switched to an all natural sunscreen and it hasn't returned so I think we figured out what caused it. Have fun moving the wardrobes around :) Sounds like heavy work!

Mellie- How's Theo doing now?

Chaos- Wow- there is no way Emma would let me take a pic of her like that, lol :) I can see a top tooth just under Emma's gum now too. How's Autumn's nose and nappy rash doing now? Did the coconut oil work? I've heard it works well, but haven't tried it yet either.

Kte- Interesting business idea- I can see it being popular. We have women's only gyms over here but they just have babysitting services attached so a place where you could workout with baby close by sounds like a good idea  Yep, Emma's monster is Brobee from Yo Gabba Gabba- I can't say I've actually watched the show, but it's her favourite toy and it goes everywhere with us. That's good that Chloe transitioned so well to her own room! Re: sippy cup and teeth, I just give water to Emma (unless she's bunged up- then it's watered down juice) and she has a little toothbrush that she chews on in the evening after dinner. I haven't bought baby toothpaste yet but I probably should- it's just ridiculously expensive though.

LK- Sounds like James is doing great! The only signs I've had from Emma are "up" and she's done "milk" once but I think that was a bit of a fluke. It's pretty awesome when they sign, isn't it? I can't wait til Emma starts doing more signing.

Sam- That's great that George travelled well! Sounds like a nice vacation!

Colsy- Glad to hear OH is back now and hopefully things will settle down for Monty and you :hugs:

Maffie- Glad to hear the scan went well and that you get another one soon too.

Sorry if I missed anyone! Hope everyone is having a good day :hugs:
