I burp 2-3 times during a feed, if I don't Miss Sharlotte is quite cranky. But this isn't the case with all kids, my first didn't really need to be burped at all. And burping is really only necessary till their 3 months or so.

sorry if this is a silly question,

I though you didnt need to burp babies who are breastfed as they dont take in any air...

i heard that before aswell but for mine i have to burp him loads i think it just depends on the baby too but they do take in less air then bottle fed babies i heard but ive heard alot of mums still need to wind there breastfed babies xx

They take in less air.

But they take it in if there's active letdown... and their breathing the same time their feeding, that's an opportunity to swallow air.

Same as Margele, in the middle and at the end. He is a real guzzler and if I do not wind in the middle he takes ages to settle when the feed is finished

My boy gulps his milk and gets his gas that way.Wish he wouldnt do it cause I hate burping,I'm not very good at it.

i burp ffion the same as you Margerle.. its so hard to get her wind up sometimes

I burp during and after too. She's a VERY good burper (got that from her dad)! She burps on her own usually but if she doesn't, I definitely burp her myself.

I burp him most of the time, the only time I don't is when I've fed him in bed & he's fallen asleep.

Karen - how are you burping you lo? Indi hates the over the shoulder way so I lie him face down on my lap, supporting his head & shoulders with one hand while patting his back with other.

i burp him but if nothing comes out after like ten minutes of trying then i just stop.
dont know if thats okay or not, my LO is breastfed and def needs to be burped.

I usually only burp Seth at the end. I tried doing it half way through but he gets cranky having to wait for more food!

He's getting a lot better at bringing his wind up but for the first couple of weeks he was terrible with it, we could sit for a good 2 hours before getting anything out of him,

xxx

The best method for me seems to be just lifting his legs and letting him fart it out!

My lil one seldom burps...she just farts all the time.
