If you rented for three months or more you could've bought one, it must depend how much you'll use it and for how long.

i brought a used one off ebay and once ive had the baby will probably put it back on there, that way i havent really lost anything

I suppose it really is a personal choice, we brought the angelsounds one and it's been good and reassuring.
Also ditto to previous post if ur having it more than a few months u could probably buy one and resell it.
Although we brought ours new, plan to sell on e-bay when baby's here!
