Hello!

Had a couple of quick questions. I've noticed my c-section is opening a little more each day. I've been to the doctor twice to have it taped together with steristrips, both times I was reassured it wouldn't need to be re-stitched. She said there was fluid build up behind it which was forcing some blood out. Now I can see that its a little wider, although forming scabs in some areas but still leaking quite a bit, mostly pink tinged but some red. There are no other signs of infection such as red streaks, fever, pus or anything of that sort, but I did notice a couple of lumps on either side of abdomen a little ways above the actual incision. I have had a bad cough and noticed it was a little sore when I pushed on the area, and then noticed the lumps. They are oblong though, if that makes any sense. Not like an actual ball shape, more of a line. Would this be the internal incision? Is that normal for it to swell up some? I really don't know what to think. I just felt some strain with coughing.

Sorry this turned out to be so long, but if someone has had any experience with this, I'd like to hear. I'm waiting on a call back from the nurse but kind of wanted a heads up to get an idea of what is going on.

Sorry I have no real advice, as I am just now experiencing sight seepage from my wound. I also have noticed some small lumps as well. Have you heard anything?

Hi! I went to the doctor shortly after that post. I ended up having some blood clots that was the cause of the "fluid". I had to have the incision packed (not painful at all since the area is numb) and after going back today, the blood clots have dissolved. Very good news! I did ask about the small lumps, and those are from the Facia (sp?) which is the internal incision. They are nothing to worry about, and we actually want those because it is a sign of healing.
So if you're worried, that should put you mind at ease. But as always, if you notice any pain/tenderness/swelling in your legs, redness or pus from the incision, make a call. Actually, it wouldn't hurt to go get checked out anyway, just to be on the safe side. Not one part of it hurt, and we were able to catch it before it turned into an infection.
