For those of you who had c-sections, how long once the baby was delivered did it take for the surgeon to sew you back up. It's not definite that i have to have the c-section but i think it will be pretty likely. I just want to get all the info now. Other than the spinal block which is a scary thought, i'm most worried about how how long i have to lay in surgery once baby is out. I just know i'll be busting to get out of there.

It was around 50 minutes for me. I was worried about that part too.. But honestly it felt like 5 minutes. I was so thrilled my baby had arrived and was healthy that I wasn't aware of anything else goin on. My OH was holding our baby next to me the whole time, so I was occupied :)

Good luck xx

the whole procedure from the moment i lay on the table ready for them to open me up to being stitched back up again took 20 mins! i was surprised they were so quick

I was so amazed looking at LO in my arms that it could have been 10 mins or 1 hr??? I didnt know or care where I was - I had just given birth to the most beautiful baby - so I am saying your mind will be on other things to care about whats going on!
:flower:

I also didnt take any notice of how long it took but it honestly wasnt very long at all (maybe 30 mins???) but I was so amazed by my baby that I really didnt notice the passage of time xx

I think it was about 20 mins to half an hour, not sure. they give her to me for skin to skin and I was far too preoccupied with cuddling her.

it was 3.5 hrs from the time he was born until i was in recovery but it went wrong for me during stiching and i had to be given a general

looking at the other girls replys it should be quick and you will have LO to gaze at so im sure time will fly

x

I was pretty out of it during the c section ( in and out of consciousness) but Dh said it was about 20 mins to sew me up after they took out the twins. But like the other girls say I'm sure you won't notice it! I had to stay in for 5 days and then discharged myself but that was due to so many medical problems. I heard the average time for the hospital stay is about 2-3 days :) xxx

About 15 mins for me, which felt like hours, but only cos my little was taken to nicu and i just wanted to go and see him x

It took about 5 mins to get LO out but took about 45 mins to stich me back together.I hated the whole experince.I just felt so sick and awful.I think it was my nerves though. It felt like I was in there a life time.Good luck with your c-section if you have to get it :)

About an hour for me and it felt like ages, they didn't put him on my chest either, they gave him to my mum for a bit and then had to take him away to check his blood sugar (I had GD) and then he went to recovery with my Mum so she could dress him.

40-45 minutes.

Though OH darted after LO once she was out and brought her back in 5-10 minutes (seemed like eternity). But then afterwards she was put on my chest while they were sewing me up - though all i could see of her was the top of her head!

After surgery they put us into a little room for about 5 minutes, before they took us over to the regular room.

I had laboured naturally for over 40 hours before I was taken in for my section. They had our son out in 15 min from the time I entered theatre, and from there is was maybe 40-45 min until I was stitched up and in recovery. I was in such a haze I don't remember much. But DH had him for a bit next to me and they they took him across the room to do some checks. I read later in my notes that he had to be given some oxygen, which kind of freaked me out though.

One thing they don't tell you upfront though is that you will have chattery teeth -- I felt so cold! I think it was something to do with something they gave me...but my teeth wouldn't stop chattering for about an hour after. I thought I was going mad!

I was in the operating room for a total of 25 minutes. It didn't take my doctor long to get Bryson out and sew me back up.

I had to have an emergency c-section after my last stage (pushing) of labour wasn't progressing, much to my disappointment!

The spinal wears off quite quickly, in about 2 hours I could feel the sensation returning to my body. You do shiver a lot though, it's horrible!!

I had a fairly major bleed, so it took them over an hour, but as everyone else here has said you don't notice the passage of time. They held my daughter up so I could see if it was a boy or girl (I asked) and then took her to the side table to get her breathing, which she did in less than 60 seconds. I couldn't see her then, but hubby could. They then weighed her, measured her and I could see her the whole time. Then they brought her over to my hubby & I, all wrapped up in a white towel. They didn't put her on my chest or anything, but I was able to stroke her with my one hand (other one had a drip in it).

When they had finished operating on me, my hubby went with her while they took me through to recovery. From then on we were never apart.

HTH.

From me entering theatre it took them about 15 mins to give me my spinal block and lay me down and then about 25 mins to deliver Grace and stitch me back up but they really had to fight and throw me around to get her out as she had a foot stuck in my ribs.

I was in and out of conciousness throughout due to exhaustion and threw up a couple of times which was really scary as I kept trying to sit up and they had to hold me down so I had to throw up lay on my back with them pulling my head to the side so I didnt choke on my vomit. It went all over my face, in my hair and in my ear!!!! But i was back on the recovery ward about an hr after going into theatre...although it took a good 5 or 6hrs hrs or so to gain enough sensation and strength in my legs to stand up.

Hi I was in theatre for 5 hours... they cut my bladder and I had to wait for a urologist to stich it up
They told me before I went in that I should have been in and out in an hour. The chattering teeth comment bought back memories- it drove me mad. As soon as my lo was weighed etc my oh had her next to me for the rest of time we were in there. I couldn't wait to get out and hold her! Good luck x

5 mins to get LO out and it felt more like 5 seconds, amazingly fast i didn't even realise they had cut me i thought they were still prepping me for the cut! once she was delivered it was about 10 mins to stitch me back up!!
for me the longest part was getting to the thearte and then administering the dreaded spinal!

About 45 mins to stitch me up after getting Rebecca out. It went really fast though - I was too busy staring at my little lady :cloud9:
