Hi Ladies

I was wondering if you could help me with a wedding cake query - How much do you think I should expect to pay for a 3 tier sponge cake to feed approximately 80 people?

It depends on a few different things. Would you want people to have a desert sized portion or a finger portion?

If it's Finger then you'd need 10"/7"/4". If it's Desert you'd need at least 12"/9"/6".

Then it depends on the level of detail you'd like.

I'd say as a rough guide you'd be looking to pay at least £20/tier minimum purely for ingredients (top quality) and materials (board, ribbon, drum, dowels) So then you'd need to add on top the charges made by the person making it, so then it depends on their level of experience and how long it would take them to make.

This one is a Marks and Spencer cake. If you went to a specialist cake shop/maker you'd probably pay more. Unless of course you got mates rates

Kris that is gorgeous and your blocks are so neat! How did you do them?

With a lot of patience!
Just rolled out a thick tube and tried to get it as even as possible, and then used my icing smoother to flatten the edges and sides. Then i measured how high it was (2 1/2 cm) and then cut along it 2.5cms along with a really sharp knife. Then i shaped it with my fingers to make it perfect.
Im a bit obsessive about things like that xxx
