Reedy, I use Sainsburys. 10 for £2.50 I think. Havent brought any in a while as I tend to stock up. Im terrible lol. Also, look at PME cutters and you will see some butterfly ones, if you make them yourself they tend to work out cheaper than to buy them all the time.

Thank you Cocoa still waiting to use them on a cupcake but I cant wait. Made a few so I have them as I only have one mould and they take a while to freeze.

Anyone tried to make a cake jar?? had a pop at it today and it wasnt too bad... I enjoyed it..

Here are some pics.. I obviously need some practice.. I already have had my friend ask if I will do some for a coffee morning lol.. I am off to hobbycraft to get some decent ribbon and some fabric.

Its been a long time since i was on here, everyones cakes are fab, as always.

This is the last cake i made, first attempt at carving a shaped cake and i dont think i did too bad of a job

Yeah i took my pics off...i get embarassed and think people will think they are crap.

I've done cake in a jar before,quite funky!

What's the general rules here girls. If you are inspired by a cake you saw posted and want to use the design yourself? Do you just message the person or do you all se it as "fair game" lol xx
 
Cake jars are just exactly that..cake layers in a jar with different filling layers like buttercream/jam etc. Eat them with a spoon.

I really lack self confidence.And if i see a cake that inspires me i often try it but change it abit to make it my own but i guess it would be nice to ask first.
 
GF! I love your cakes!! I definitely dont think they are rubbish.. Keep them on here, your cupcakes give others ideas and I would like to see them, I love looking at cupcakes :flower:

Kittyventura, its exactly what GF said. For the strawberry one I just put my strawberry jam in a pan and heated it up and whisked it so it wasnt lumpy and when it cooled I added some buttercream to give it a sweeter taste then cut my cakes out using something the same size and put them in, added the buttercream and then a layer of jam.. The chocolate one has buttercream and then a layer of crushed aero.. I didnt get to eat any cos I am on SW so I gave both to MIL.. :cry: If you wanted you could add alcohol and just add it once you have layered your cake so it soaks the sponge...
 
Just a question for you girls that sell your lovely creations, a few friends and family members have recently been asking me to make cakes for them and saying they would pay me, i was just wondering how much you charge as i don't really know what to say to them!

I dont make cakes, just cupcakes.

Girls can you help me.. I need to make some cupcakes this weekend for my friends sisters 16th birthday her theme is black, silver and cerise pink. Silver and cerise pink great but black :nope: I never can get it black, my friend brought black extra and said it didnt do anything different to the normal black unless you used loads.. How can I get my buttercream black??
 
Instead of black buttercream could you use black sugarpaste to make decorations for the cupcakes. You can buy the sugarpaste already coloured so you wouldn't need to colour it yourself.

Yeah thats what I am doing but she said she wanted a mix of colours for her buttercream.. I havent got an idea what to do.. I might have to just tell her.
 
I think Jo has made black buttercream cupcakes before and they were fab.Maybe she could tell you. x

For black buttercream use chocolate buttercream and add you black colouring to that, this is the easiest way to get black buttercream x
 
well ladies i havnt baked in a very long time but i have a small cake and some cupcakes to do this week for this weeend...im going to do a strawberry,vanilla and chocolate with oreos for a birthday party
