LOL I never eat mine! I hate buttercream and fondant with a passion! Can barely stand the smell  so decorating them can be a bit of a pain!

Leanne I got a big box of them from poundland! They were just for Gemma to add to her friends pressies but i pinched a few for my cakes!

Have you tried using kerrygold butter? It is whiter than most and keep whisking it til it gets paler :winkwink:

So onto 2010........
I have a Wizard of Oz cake for mid January, a MOD cake for beggining of February and a Twilight themed stacked cake for Gemmas birthday on the 12th!

:D

love the cup cakes
what do you use to decorate the frosting icing to make it looks like that (spiky :winkwink: )? I have the different ones..

Andrea you are amazing!!!!lol tho i really need to not lok at any of your piccies as you always give me lots of inspiration and i'm putting waaay too much weight on with all this 'practicing' lark!LOL ... i'm planning on doing hampers for this xmas so need lots of 'practice' to get things right :winkwink:

LOL thank you! I rarely eat anything I make, I have more of a bad savoury tooth! Crisps are my downfall!

I am excited! My cake stuff I have been waiting on for 2 weeks has finally arrived just in time for me to make my wizard of oz cake!

I was up till 2am making loads of poppies, emerald city (not sure if i will use that) a rainbow, and ruby slippers, the slippers have been the bane of my life for about a week!

I made them out of chocolate, then boiled sugar and water, fondant and finally got them looking better lastnight by using flower paste!

Tonight I make the cake and I will probably decorate it tomorrow! :yipee:

P.s. have any of you done a grass effect with icing before? Tips? :D

not actually done it but im sure i havea piping nozzel somewhere that does it , it has like 9 holes in or something, ive never used it before.

cant wait to see your cake!!!!!

i have got that nozzle do you think it would look best done with buttercream or sort of squish the fondant through it? :)

i think that the buttercream would stick better

the fondant may look cracked iykwim

yeah, i will have a few practice shots first before I comit to puting it on the cake!

Thank you :hugs:

I am feeling a bit "meh" about this one, i had it all planned in my head for weeks and something just isnt right with it!

i still have a plaque to add to the front of it, its still drying out so I can write on it.....but anyway here is my wizard of oz cake!

wow thats amazing!!!!

grass looks really really good!!!

aww thanks leanne!

my piping bags kept bursting so i made a greaseproof one and it spilt, its like this cake didnt want to be made!!!
I tried squeezing fondant through a garlic press and it looked really good till I tried to stick it to the cake!!
Oh well, I am sure my SIL will love it just the same!

Wow those Ruby slippers are gorgeous! How are they go glittery? What a beautiful cake.

edible glitter is amazing

i got loads and loads at the cake show in birmingham last time i went

it lasts ages too!

I am obsessed with Glitter (although it gets everywhere!!!)

I haven't been decorating long but i'll show you a few things i've done, they are nothing in comparison to some of the wonderful cakes on here though.
