Calling all Fur-parents!

OMG! Cuteness overload @ 8 in the morning! Thanks for sharing everyone...I like coming to this thread just to look at the photos, there are so many!

I thought I would share a few photos of my fav passtime...dressing my cats up a little:

Will they walk like that? If I get anything around my cats' middle areas, they flop over and won't walk. At first I thought they were just being melodramatic and would get up... but one time I left one dressed and came back into the living room a few hours later, and she was still there! So I took it off and she just got up and walked away. :dohh:

Hahaha gingerpanda that really made me laugh! Bisto was the same, she got some sellotape on her side and fell over sideways x

lmao nope...depending on what it is...if its too tight they will usually freak and try to run off, but loose dresses they will usually walk off then go lie down somewhere as if on display! Now if i try a leash...yes, they just flop over and give up

Never tried a leash on mine. They have worn collars with tags since they were kittens, even though they never go outside. I guess I was just paranoid they might run out the door as I was coming or going at some point. They have little bells and jingle, jingle, jingle through the house.

How cute! I tried to leash train when they were little, but wasn't consistant, so they hate it now. Same thing with collars...I never keep them on...but I should start, but I find with long haired cats it gets a little matted under the collar....maybe I'm not brushing enough

My furbaby passed away just last month. It hit me hard. But, when he was a puppy he was attached to my cousin a lot. When she had her baby he changed a lot. He would howl all night long because I think he felt ignored...But he eventually got over it and went back to his normal self. He was the best dog I had. My other furbaby I had to give up to a family member. I miss him, but I know he's better off where he's at.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that. My cat died on Thursday too, it's really hard isn't it. I keep thinking I see her in the corner of the room and it was really horrible the first morning I got up and she wasn't there. But I feel okay, I'm glad she's not suffering. I also have a 16 year old dog (that is living with my mum), I get a feeling 2013 will be a bad year for me 'furbaby' wise. I hope you're doing okay xxx

I'm sorry to hear that. Yea he was tiny and went outside and the cold got to him. Usually he comes back in, but he didn't. It was a sight that I won't forget. :( I'm so sorry about your kitty though. Things are getting better on my end. I think only time will heal what you're going through.:hugs:

 I'm so sorry to hear you guys lost your furbabies :hugs: I don't want to even think about when it's time for one of my little girls to leave me.:nope:

:hugs: Thank you. Just don't think about when it's their time and enjoy the moments you have with them now! <3

A little different to everyone elses but we have 40 rats, 2 degus and 2 ferrets.
I breed and show fancy rats but currently on a break with 2 little boys to look after, and a few of them are 'failed fosters' that ended up staying here. The degus are rehomes as their owner couldnt keep them, they are named Sid and Diego. Finally the ferrets, Teddy is a sandy and came from a pet shop where he was origionally mr.beasty. I've had him 3 years now and he is much better but still nips when in the mood. Podge is polecat coloured and was another rehome i found as company for Ted, he is very daft and enjoys cuddles.
I grew up with animals and we always had dogs, cats, rats and rabbits-this is the first time i've only had one of those. When i was at home we were known for taking animals in and had quite an assortment over time.
When I left home we had 4 cats and 2 dogs there and only the 1 cat and the dogs remain now. Muffin the cat arrivied with her sister from a farm as they were going to be drowened if they didnt find a home. The dogs are both GSD's a black and tan bitch named sam and a black long coated dog named Diesel.

cookielucylou - wow, where do you keep 40 rats? And what is a degus?

I love rats! They're so smart and sweet!

A degu is a kind of rodent. It looks a lot like a gerbil or a mouse.

I had to google them lol...those are cuuuuute! Now I'm going to google fancy rats...because I'm picturing rats in coats with top hats and canes:haha:

Cookielucylou- Awww I love rats, I have told OH that when Joni is older we will get her two rats. I had two years ago and they used to bite my dog if she got too near. She was so scared of them! They were so clever too, really good fun to play with. I can't imagine having so many though! Do you have favourites?

Lilytame- yes it's sad when pets die but I agree, you just have to not think about it. Even the day Bisto died i managed to put it to the back of my mind and just enjoy her. And less than a week on, my OH and me are having a real laugh talking about the silly things she did. We really miss her but we're already able to enjoy remembering her rather than just feeling horrible about it.

xxx

The rats have their own shed in the garden which my OH built for them, they have huge cages so need their own space to fit them in. My older son loves them and thinks there all his :)
I must admit I do have favourites, they all have very different personalities and there is always one or 2 that really stick out and you bond with. I lost one of my favourite girls on christmas eve at only 14 months, she always ran to the doors to greet me with a kiss and would groom me whilst i stroked her.

Oh how sweet...how long is a usual life span for them?

This is Jiminy my furbaby, he is a 2 year old Maine coon. Not entirely sure he knows we've actually had a baby other than there's lots of comfy looking things about that he not allowed to sleep on lol he's the most stupid cat in the world!
