Calling all Fur-parents!

I have two dogs. Dusti is a Lab/Chow/other mix. I got her at 8 weeks old in 2007 when I bought my first house. I walked her all the time, and took her places with me, and socialized/trained her very well. She's the perfect dog, partly because she's so smart and partly because I put a lot of effort into her. I love her more than anything!
In 2011 my ex and I started working opposite shifts so we were either at work or sleeping all the time - so I got her some company. Hawk is a yellow Lab, slightly mixed but mostly Lab. He was 5 and already "professionally" trained, and had worked some as a duck dog. He's a bit of a goodball and Dusti learned a few bad habits having him around. Having two dogs does make it a bit harder to have a lot of 1 on 1 training and I'm definitely glad I waited till my puppy was fully grown and satisfactorly trained before adding a second dog - especially since I was working so much at the time.

They've been with me through a couple of divorce-related moves and had to make some adjustments. For about 4 months they had to learn to be 100% outside dogs, but I certainly wasn't giving them up!

Last summer Hawk started having seizures. The vet said they couldn't find anything obviously wrong with his bloodwork or anything obvious. It seems to be a Lab breed problem. It happened while we were swimming - of course his favorite thing to do - and I had to jump in and drag him out. It was super scary, because I thought he was dying, since I'd never seen him have one before. He just had a second one today, and he was laying in a deep puddle when it happened. What is it about water that seems to trigger these things? I swear he's gonna drown some day if I'm not watching him! Ugh!

Dusti is 6 now, and Hawk is 7 (as far as we know). Dusti is a bit of a picky eater, and really didn't ever gain weight until after she was spayed, but she never lost weight either - an easy keeper. Hawk is your "typical" eats anything that doesn't eat him and I have to watch his diet pretty close. On the one hand he's hyper and I have to feed him quite a bit to keep him from loosing weight, but he will also get fat if you let him! He's been up over 100# and we changed his food and he dropped down to 70#. I consider 80# to be his goal weight.

Hiya, gorgeous pets everyone.

We have a maine coon boy who is very much our baby, he's 4 now. To answer your question; i've made sure I make time for him, when Jacob was a newborn he definitely had his nose put out and maybe didn't get enough attention as he needed. But i've worked out how to juggle them both now so it's all cool. I must admit hubby doesn't fuss over him as much as he used to, however, they do snuggle up in bed at the end of the day :).
Pang's kindof my best buddy, with me being a SAHM, so I spend a lot of time fussing over him (he's a house cat).

Aww, super cute! Yorkies are adorable. Like little living stuffed animals.

I just saw this and had to join. These are my boys.
Lucky: dark brown, we got him from people with a sign "Free Puppies" 2 years ago, and he is 2 years old, we do not know what type of dog he is yet, we want to do the DNA test soon.
Barcy: little one, my uncle gave him to us because they already had 5 other dogs, he has been with us about 4 months and he is 6 months old. Barcy is short for Barcelona. He is a maltipoo and both his parents are still alive.
I love them soooooo much. I never thought I could love dogs as much as I do these little guys, they make me so happy.

Thx, people say that to us when I post pix on Instagram. He is 5 lbs (well he was last time I weighed him, have not weighed him in a few weeks)

Ooooh so cute! Thanks for sharing MIZZYD.

How much are those DNA test?

@LillyTame: they sell kits online (even Amazon) - they have different ones for purebreeds versus mixed breeds, just make sure you buy the right one! Kit as a swab or other collection device for cheek swabbing and you just mail it off and they send you the results!

Sooooooooo cute Mizzy!!! We want to do the DNA test on our pup as well. We think she might be a Lhasa Apso/Poodle mix (she was a rescue) but not sure. Would be interesting to find out!

Hmmmm, interesting...do they do it for cats too? Have no clue how I would get a swab into my cats mouth
