I'm new ti charting my temp, but can I start on cd22 and go off the average temp post ovulation?

Sure, just start temping. When you get af (IF you get af ;)) then a new cycle will begin. Either way if you ve temped previous cycles and know approx what your temps usually are it could give you a rough estimate.

You can start temping now, though you likely won't get anything this cycle (if it's after Ovulation, your temps will be different then pre-ovulation and you don't have an accurate way of knowing which side of the spectrum you're on)

But, it can help get ya into practice for the next cycle, so I don't see any reason to not do it!

Or rather, to answer the question you put in the title, no. You probably won't be able to find out if you already ovulated this month.

I started checking my bbt late in my cycle as well. It didn't tell me if I ovulated that month, but when my new cycle started I was able to tell that there was a clear difference between my post and pre-ovulation temps. It gives me hope that I did in fact ovulate the month before.

It depends if you know your regular temps to begin with - if you've charted before, and you know your patterns, then you would have a good idea.
