Lucas is drinking 5 6oz bottles a day (that's from 7am to 11pm) but he still seems to wake up hungry at around 3am.

He is on SMA Gold at the moment and I read on a really old post on here that someone would give their baby SMA White (for hungry babies) for the last feed at night so they would feel more full. Is this okay to do?

I don't want to give him more SMA Gold (like another oz) as I have tried this and he just got sick from drinking too much.

So yeah, can I give him SMA White for his LAST bottle at 10.30pm but SMA Gold for the rest of the day? As it's not like mixing different brands.. or is it?

Thanks!

We used to do this with summer, nothing wrong with that :-) Just please, dont put an extra scoop in the bottle... I've heard of this so many times and it is very dangerous (not saying you would do it) x

You should be fine doing that, or you could just wean him over to hungry milk completely.
He might find that more satisfied..thats what i did with my lo.

we did this with connah then gradually went on to giving all his feeds on the hungrier baby milk. Although connah was maybe 3/4weeks older. Even so,you should be fine doing this :) x

Just wanted to say i tried this, just gave jax hungry baby milk at night time & for us it didn't work he still woke every 2 hours *sigh*

As above, we gave our LO hungry milk for his last feed and made no difference either. Bah..

This is what I do with my LO, she gets the hungry milk at night, and first thing in the morning.

I started Georgia on hungry milk for her last feed of the night and gradually increased it so most of her bottles were hungry, as I thought she needed it, but as it increased her pooh decreased so I finished up just giving her hungry milk for bedtime and through the night. She sleeps right through most of the time now and gets 2 hungry bottles per day, the last one and the first one.

We laugh that just like us she has two colours of milk - yellow and blue, we have green and red!!!

i would say give it a try but if your LO is still up at night and is crying etc then dont give it and speak to hv as the hungry baby milk is a lot more stodgier and heavier it could be a bit to much for him and too heavy on his tummy causing tummy ache but as they say you never know until you try!

No harm I suppose in trying. Your baby is still really young though and just might need that extra bottle still at night.

thanks everyone, i tried it and he slept better. still woke up at 4 for a bottle but actually slept until then rather than waking up every half an hour!

Good, it makes a big difference when you can get a decent few hours sleep. I see you are on team Single Mummy so its even more important that you do what is right for both you and your baby. While your baby needs to be number 1 there is absolutely nothing wrong with changing things a bit to get a decent nights sleep as you can give much better attention when you have had some sleep yourself.

Georgia started sleeping to about 4am when she was about 8 weeks I think, and it slowly stretched to 5, then 6 and now between 7-8am.

It sounds like you are making progress, I hope you have the same tonight and tomorrow night. I always say, once is lucky, twice could be coincidence and three is a pattern!!!

Wow I hope you're right! I always hate posting on here about trying to get him to sleep longer as I seem to get replies from a few certain members saying how it's wrong to "force him into a routine" at this age but like you said it helps us to be better mummys when we've had a good nights sleep :) xo

maybe speak 2 your mw and see about putting your LO on sma white through the whole day if u think that would be better
