I've had 3 already. I have my 20 week one on 9th July but I was thinking of having one at 16 weeks. I'm also booked in 3 more on the NHS cause I'm high risk. I would like to have a 4D one done around 28 weeks.

Would this be too many and be harmful to baby?

Hi

I wouldn't worry about it at all - I am 19+5 and I have had a total of about 10 due to various issues such as bleeding in the first tri and monitoring of cervical length in the second tri where they always check the baby.

If the 4D scan is just for fun, I would probably not bother with that as I've read differing opinions on safety. I certainly wouldn't have any scans that weren't medically necessary and it sounds like yours are because you are higher risk.

We are lucky in this regard that we get to see the baby so often as some women only get 1 or 2 maximum.

All the best

I doubt it... I have 2 scans a week from now until I deliver.

I don't think so-I had to have weekly scans from 28 weeks, so a total of 13/14 with dd2 and 7 with this baby.

Hi thank you for your reply.

I had one at 6weeks to check baby was in the right place. 9weeks due to bleeding and my 12 week scan at 13weeks. My last scan was not a pleasant experience, I couldn't see baby cause of the angle I was on the bed, the scan woman was not very nice at all so I'm thinking of having a 16 week one privately. Plus it will break up the wait to my 20 week one.
The nhs then want me to have a 28, 34 and 36 week scans to check growth of baby. The 4D is just for us to see baby better,I was always told I couldn't have kids so this has been a massive shock. I kind of want as much documentation as possible if that make sense.

Thank you again

I have one every appt. I guess since my ob has been practicing for 45 years... Maybe it makes her feel better to just look at the baby briefly every time. Who knows lol

Thanks ladies fir the reasurrance. We have decided to call a place tomorrow and book one for the 14th June. I'll be 16 weeks on the 11th so I'm hoping we may be able to find out the sex :)
