I first started out BF but due to a BF issues LO is on more on formual than breast milk. I started off buying SMA gold as I didn't know which formual to buy. I thought about trying LO with a different forumal that might be a bit cheaper, but I'm not sure if you can swap babys on formula or not. LO is really hungry and i thought about giving her the formula for hungry babies. I am a new mum and know nothing about this. All help and info need.

thanks

Yup you can switch. Just give her plenty of time to get used to different milk. How often/much do you feed lo?

unless your baby is on 8/9oz bottles every few hours i wouldnt switch to hungry baby. If you switch to another formula i would recommend cow and gate or aptamil. SMA is known to cause constipation in many babies. X

Olivia is on 4oz every 3hrs...she is 5 weeks old.... i try to get her to go 4 hrs but she doesnt. I never new what formula to get when i 1st started to do the formula.

How do you know how much to feed them and how long to let them sleep between feeds? When I 1st gave her formula she slept a long time and sometimes wouldnt wake in 4 hrs

2-4hrs between feeds is perfectly normal. Even now at 7months, other than thru the night, Harrison has to have food/milk every 3hrs. As for sleeping Harrison STILL naps between every feed, otherwise he gets tired and grumpy! X

SMA hungry milk is suitable from birth, she may be constipated for a few days so just give her cooled boiled water. If you switch brands my HV said its best to start with the first feed of the day to see how she reacts to it. My baby is 13 weeks and feeds every 3 hours in the day but she sleeps from 7:30-7:30. She also naps as and when in the day, normally in the morning for an hour or so around 10:30 and a couple of times throughout the afternoon, when she was tiny she always napped between feeds, dont worry. x

My LO is on SMA Gold and we change dover yesterday to the hungry baby formula. I called the number on the tin for advice and they were really good. LO was taking between 7-9oz every 3hrs during the day and sleeping on average 8hrs per night, they advised me to give the hungry baby formula a go and said if it didn't suit we could just revert straight back to the SMA Gold.
