Canesten products are safe to use while TTC, but I would stay away from the oral capsule - just stick with the creams / pessaries. Good idea to stop BD until the thrush is clear and treat him too with the cream if he has symptoms as well. Good luck - hope you are all clear soon!
I just read the instructions doh lol yeah it clearly says do not take the oral capsule if you are ttc or might be pregnant. Problem is I have taken it, so guess I am out this month
although we did bd last night and I am about to ovulate this coming week and really wanted it cleared up.
ahh dilema do I wait until i get a positive opk and the thrush is cleared up then bd and hope the canesten is out of my system or do i just avoid bding until after ov and I am all clear?
i have taken canesten this month too but thought it was ok to take the capsule but no use the cream?! oh well least its cleared it up - what does it do if you do take it while ttc?
The effects of the oral capsule are unknown like most medicines because there are no clinical tests done on pregnant women for obvious reasons. The capsule is less suitable in pregnancy because it absorbed into the bloodstream, whereas the internal capsule and/or cream just work locally at the site of infection in the vagina. If you have not ovulated yet then there is no problem - just get busy once everything has cleared up which should just take a couple of days. Good luck - hope you get your BFP!
Hi Lisa - I had the same dilema a while back and my SIL told me about Biofem, it's a natural gel that clears up EVERYTHING (it restores natural PH levels)!! It's fantastic and totally safe with ttc & while preg. You can get it in boots & superdrug.
Thanks girls for the info, hoping for my this month and was just concerned but hopefully in a few days canesten will be outta my system and I can bd to catch the eggy
aww sausages I know how you feel, i really thought this month was it but now i am so concerned that the thrush could ruin it but I am about 5 days away from ovulating so i am just gonna go for it, thrush is already gone this morning thank god.
I am searching the web to see how long the canesten will be in my system hoping its all gone before O.
When did you take the canesten and had you ovulated before then?
I took the pill about 7 days before i think i O'ed and the internal pessary about 6 days before. I am not sure when i O'ed though because it was over Christmas and with the drinking etc. my temps are messed up. Plus, cause i knew we wouldn't be able to try i just kind of didn't bother with charting as much.
We always wait at LEAST 7 days before DTD after thrush because there have been times in the past where we've passed it back and forth with not waiting long enough.
Just make sure your DH at least uses the cream, or takes the pill as well.
