Oh boy. So just found out that our condo complex we live in is going to be doing major tenting for termites at the beginning of December. Which means Hubby, LO, Me, Cat, 2 Dogs, and 2 Fish will have to move out and stay at husband's parents place for 3 days 2 nights at least. Possibly more if there is still a bad odor cause don't want LO breathing that in. So basically will have to move out of house with a newborn. My question is how many diapers, clothes, all of that do I pack? All of the blankets and clothes and items that I don't bring will be bagged up and left in home during this time, but I definitely don't want to run short on items. Suggestions?

I've NO clue hun... I know new borns go through lots of diapers! Maybe see, on average, how many LO needs in a week and take enough for that? Might be too much, but better than not enough... unless it's easy to go buy more IF needed ;) I would for sure pack at least 2 changes of clothes per day- then add a few extra just in case. Then anything else you may need to make LO's stay pleasent...

Best of luck!!!!

Thanks for the tip seoj that sound like a really good idea cause then surely would have to have enough. And I'd much rather pack more than not enough that is for sure.

I got thru loads with my son, he had 12 (yes 12) poo's one night!

What rotten luck! :(

If you are using disposable diapers, I would just buy a big new package and leave it at your in-laws. Ditto for wipes and other baby toiletries.

For clothes and if you use cloth diapers, just depends on how frequently you can do laundry there - but for me personally, I would pack at least 20 diapers and plan on doing laundry daily (who wants stinky dirty diapers around!). And 3 outfits and 3 sleepers per day that you want to go between washes. My first was a real spitter upper, so we went through quite a bit of clothes. I like having at least 3-5 blankets (depends on if you swaddle with receiving blankies or not - if you do, pack more in case of nighttime spittups). Don't forget waterproof pads (I like disposable multi-purpose pads for travelling), bedding (travel crib sheets if you are using a travel crib, at least 1/day), bibs (especially if your LO spits up a lot), and burp cloths. Also, if you plan on bathing baby during your stay, pack a few washcloths and at least 1 hooded towel. In a pinch if you forget you can always use normal ones from your in-laws, but it depends on how sensitive your LO's skin ends up being.

If LO has any comfort items that help with bedtime/bathtime be sure to throw those in - favorite mobile, pacifier, blankie, toy to look at, sound maker, etc. And your baby monitor :D

If you plan on doing laundry there, and LO has sensitive skin, make sure to bring your detergent or plan on buying some.

Its an ordeal, but totally doable :hugs:
