Cant do it anymore...

Well yesterday she had a mixture of breast & bottle. 3 of each. The last feed at night was formula & guess what she slept for 8 hours! The first time she's done that. And I honestly feel that the last couple of days she's been a lot happier. She isn't suffering from wind, she seems to have a fuller belly after a feed as she sits smiling & cooing for a good couple of hours after being fed. When I BF she gets more wind so she spends a lot of the time after those feeds squirming & pushing wind out. I'm still going to continue BF. I've been giving her my breast twice during the mornings, then formula through the day, the breast & then the last feed at night is formula & it's going really well. She's had a couple of overloaded pooey nappies but that's to be expected. Her tummys not used to it, the same way that if we eat something different that we've never eating it takes our systems to adjust also.. x

One thing I would say it be careful with your boobs if you cut off BF fully. I just changed straight over and didnt massage my boobs like you're meant to (I think there are other things they recommend you do to help your milk dry up) and I ended up with something called Mastitis (its an infected and blocked milk duct) ...it was horrendous!!!! I thought I had the flu...I was being sick, felt hot and cold, my body ached and my left boob went bright red and SOOOO hot...I didnt think all my "flu symptoms" were related to my bright red hot boob but it was and it was Mastitis...I had to go on anti-biotics. So do be careful hun.

Go for what you're comfortable with regarding BF and FF...you aren't a bad mummy if you FF. And if there is a happy mummy then there will be a happy baby :)

Thanks for all your advise! I must say, my boobs are awfully full now! Lol. Because I am still breastfeeding I can use her as a release if you like, but obviously because I'm only feeding her by breast half as much they fill up during the day & at night. They go rock solid! And you can actually see the full milk ducts under my skin there that full! I express to relieve some of the pressure until she feeds. I've just got to wait until the flow eases off & settles to the requirements now. All fun & games isn't it! Lol x

I will still continue. There's no reason why I can't/won't. I love doing it. So i've split it down the middle by doing half BF & half formula. This is the routine we seem to have got into - breast, breast, bottle, bottle, breast, bottle & it's working really well :) x

Im glad you've found a happy medium hun. :)

I can't believe how much some women spend on formula! It's so overpriced ther!
Here I spend £8 on a tub of milk and that lasts me about a week. When he was on comfort milk it was like 50p more but I still only used say 4 or 5 tubs in a month!
