Help! I have breastfeed Robyn for 9 months and since 5 months i have been trying on and off to get her to take a bottle.
I really want to wind down the breastfeeding now so have been offering a bottle first but she will scream and scream untill she goes to sleep rather than take the bottle.

I'd like her to take the bottle so i can start going out, as at the moment i cant go anywhere unlesss she goes with me.

Would i be best to just go cold turkey and just only offer a bottle?
Just keep offering it first before a feed

I have tried avent tents, tommee tippee, breast flow, sippy cups and various formula... she will take it for a couple of days and then flip out and not take anything.

A friend had given me half a tub of C&G hungry baby and C&G first milk.
Feel awful for trying to force her to take a bottle but dont really want to carry on Breast feeding after 12 months.

She is a stubborn little madam! any help or ideas would be great!

gosh......i could also do with some advice!!! Billy was combination fed, having a bottle maybe twice a day and this was working really well. However he now refuses it point blank spitting and gagging to the point he has made himself sick. I always give up and bf, but we would both like him to take a bottle again.
xx

personally (though I'm no expert) I'd probably persist with offering it in a cup. You'd only have to wean her off the bottle in a few months anyway.

will not entertain a sippy cup either, tried hot, cold, juice, water, and different types of sippy.
It is looking like i will have to take her to the works christmas meal.. and feed her in the toilet as the clothes i will be wearing are not bf friendly!

Well, if your desperate, I would suggest going out and getting your partner or someone to try feed her, that way if she's hungry she'll have to take the bottle as you won't be there, and you wont be there to cave in and give her the breast! I desperately needed my LO to take a bottle, it was awful for about 2 weeks, she screamed, gagged and refused, but eventually I went out and left her with my mum for 4 hours and she took the bottle in the end, and now she takes it fine! Like you I tried different teats, formula but it doesn't make any difference, however I did find she liked the ready made cartons better than the powder, so worth a try xx

Have you tried an open beaker or a doidy cup? It'd take a bit of practice but apparently the muscles babies use for bfing more naturally suit an open cup than a bottle or sippy and it works for us. Might be worth a shot.

I don't have experience but I have heard Doidy cups can be good for BF babies.

I agree with Annaspanna, maybe if you leave the room she might take it? Oddly enough, my baby won't take a bottle from anyone else if I'm in the room, and she's always had bottles.
