Well I had my 20week scan today and the sonographer tells me I'm team pink!!! So happy to hear this but she said she can't be sure and to keep receipts of anything pink we buy. I know she isn't allowed to say she is certain and that no scan can be 100 per cent sure but how sure would you be if this was said to you? basically i want to know if you would trust her opinion or opt for a babybond scan at an additional 80 pounds i really dont have. Thank you in advance!

Thay have to say that to cover themselves, im sure she was right xxx

your like me at 20 week scan i got told it might be a girl so ive inframed in buying any girl thing which i want to bt scared incase it wrong anyway ive book 4d scan with baby bond on 22 oct so i defo be asking what it is

I'm sure she was just saying that because she had to.

My sonographer told me the exact same thing 'keep the receipts' after she said boy...so I think they just want to cover themselves! I say feel free to buy pink :)

I agree, I don't think any confirm 100% tbh. I always asked to have a look, quite clear to see a hamburger or a willy lol.

i do have pics but none where you can see inbetween the legs although i did have a look and could see the umbilical cord but nothin else dangling there lol, i would have probably seen it if there was a willy there lol, wouldnt i? thanks ladies, made me feel a lot more confident about my little girl :) xxx

Could you get a 4d scan to make sure? Suppose hard to be 100% with team pink?

I could but like I said It's £80 I don't have, can anyone tell me how to put my scan pic as my profile pic, the one that comes up under ur name on the side of messages lol I'm newish here and havent gotten round to it yet xxx

Congratulations! Yes, ultrasound techs probably aren't supposed to give you a definitive result because they can be wrong. I've personally been misdiagnosed for various things on u/s 3 times! I'm sure the "guess" of girl is to her best knowledge.

To post a picture off your computer (say, of your ultrasound) you can hit the "go advanced" button below the reply box; there will be an options bar with images; one image is of a black paperclip. If you hit that, you can attach files from your computer.

To update your main photo, signature, or "family status" (the little quote under your screen name), scroll to the top of this page and look for dark purple test that says "User CP"; that will have all your options to mess with your own settings.

I had my anatomy scan at about 20 weeks and was told 85% that we would be having a boy and he said that he has rarely been wrong, especially past 20 weeks or so, HOWEVER he also had to throw in a disclaimer about how nothing's ever 100% positive with these scans, and there's always room for error. I think they just have to say that they could still be wrong, but I would feel confident that you're on team pink :)

I have heard that happens even more often when they DON´T see any dangle, that is mostly in case of girls. Sometimes, like with my son there was just no way not saying that this was a boy. The penis was obvious as soon as she started. :haha:

I think she´s probably very sure but says the other thing as a safeguard. :)

I am sure the sonographers have had some freak incidents where women came back screaming about their wrong reading and complained about how they had spent tons because they took the sonographer's word. They want to play safe, is all.

Hay - i was told the exact same thing at my 19 week scan, she spent a fair while looking and then had a second look at the end and said she was fairly sure it was a girl but that she could only give us 90%. when i told my mum this she said its just so that they can't be sued or anything afterwards if they did get it wrong - must admit though i haven't actually been out and brought anything pink yet!!

none of them say 100% but i wud go with her judgement she does it everyday x
