Carpel Tunnel Onset

Hey!

So, I am 22 weeks pregnant and for the past week or so my left thumb, wrist and upper arm have been killing me... like a dull ache. I called my doctor about it as what I was reading online (I know I shouldn't have read online) was scaring me. He recommended that I take some tylenol and try to rest it as much as possible. I see him tomorrow for a regular appointment so I will mention it again.

Has anyone had the sudden onset of Carpel Tunnel in pregnancy? I'm left handed but am dominant with my right hand. Any tips?!

OMG i thought i was going crazy maybe thinking that pregnancy sparked mine off but my right hand is absoloute agony in the middle of my palm. I have no idea what to do, OH said something about an operation and that put me off completely lol..

My friend has it and her doctor told her that if it is just a pregnancy onset they wouldn't do surgery as it should go away after delivery. My doctor recommended a thumb/wrist brace for the day to see if that helps.

I sleep in a brace at night and it helps. Also try icing it, as its caused by inflammation.

Avoid excessive time at the computer or holding up a cell phone as an exended time in the same position, such as on a mouse, can aggravate it. . Google carpal tunnel stretches also. Good luck!

Thanks!! I wish I could avoid typing but that is what I do all day for work. I am thinking of getting a brace to wear at night, I have a right handed brace but not a left. I will be sure to google that stuff, thanks!

I'm having it in both hands. I didnt even bother seeing doc for it though. I bought two braces and wear them at night and it seems to be helping tremendously.

I had it in 1 of my hands/wrist last time could only take paracetamol was left at that. It went after i gave birth.

Not sure if its starting in my left.
