Carseat confusion!

Ordered a Britax first class plus, we'll see how it goes :)

Just to say make sure you go onto the Britax Fit Finder as the first class doesn't fit in loads of cars rearward facing...I used to work in mothercare before I had DS and although it's a fab car seat the seat belt needs to be really long in the rearward facing position.

If you check on the fit finder it should say if it's been checked in your car.

I second this.
Don't just order a car seat on line.
Go to mothercare first and get them to try out the seats in your car.
I really wanted the britax First Class Plus, went to mothercare to see if it fitted and - it didn't!!
They then tried the Maxi Cosi Opal which does fit.
Luckily, I hadn't bought my car seat yet, so was then able to go away and find a good deal online for a seat that DID fit my car.
Car seats are not a 'one size fits all'.

its nothing to do with age. its all weight, at 20lb they can move to the next seat
yes its safer ERF blah blah, but they can move at 20lbs.

It has everything to do with age, the absolute bare minium for FF is 9m and 20lb weight

legally its not though. you can move your baby when you like as long as theyre 20lb.

ok used the fit finder and apparently NOTHING fits a BMW 1998 3 series tourer!

 Oh no! Where did you order the car seat from? Could you ring them up and explain and try to cancel it? If not I suppose you will just have to send it back when it comes what a pain though.

Maybe try the maxi cosi website and see if the opal fits your car?

There are probably loads of car seats that will fit but just not the combination ones ie the first class because they really do need massively long seat belts to fit...I would keep him in his infant seat for now (they can take a weight up to 13kg) and then get a forward facing one later on or investigate the ERF ones.

DS2 is 10 months and is still in his cabriofix...I can't carry him in anymore though lol!

Sorry meant to add that mine went through a phase of hating being in his car seat at that age and now he's fine in it...how about some toys to hang over the handle or a mirror on the seat so he can see himself.

Its went through Kiddicare so need to wait for it to be delivered then send it back :dohh: I was hoping as it would let him see out the widow it would keep him happy.

will try one of the mirrors *sigh*
