I had my cd21 blood test done and it came back 1.3 the Dr had the receptionist call me and said she wanted a repeat but the receptionist wasn't helpful she said she didn't know when the dr wanted a repeat but obviously will have to be cd21 of my next cycle and the level of 1.3 means no ovulation right? My chart has ovulation on cd15 but i think that could be down to the sudden heat we had here at the same time and the reason I have had the blood test is because i have stupidly irregular long cycles and suspect I'm not ovulating.

I've been found a little reading up on this, I had blood draw Fri CD21 also and my progesterone came back 9.3 and they wanted to put me on prometrium, so yeah 1.3 is low, I think I read 5 indicates ovulation but they want it over 10. Good luck to you! Hopefully you can get a hold of a nurse or doctor who can help you understand if there is more you can do this cycle!

Progesterone (P4)
7 dpo
> 15 ng/ml

A progesterone test is done to confirm ovulation. When a follicle releases its egg, it becomes what is called a corpus luteum and produces progesterone. A level over 5 probably indicates some form of ovulation, but most doctors want to see a level over 10 on a natural cycle, and a level over 15 on a medicated cycle. There is no mid-luteal level that predicts pregnancy. Some say the test may be more accurate if done first thing in the morning after fasting.

can you post your chart?

Yes here it is, it has been really hot now it is starting to cool down my temps seem to be following, I'm not sure if that's right I am new at charting.. Also on cd 15 I was still spotting from my period, and i kept forgetting to put in when we BD.

that is a super long AF. wow.

I dont think you ovulated even looking at your temps. You would have only had 10d from the end of AF til now to O and build up a lining. It IS possible you could still o but it will be a late O.

I know I'm having a difficult time with my dr aswell as last cycle I didn't ovulate at all and then she tried to say it was normal for my period to change to being long and I must be ovulating because I have my period even though I the longest was a 90+ day cycle. I'm not holding out much hope for ovulation, I didn't think I had ovulated but was hoping I had.

You need a different dr!! A 15 days AF is NOT normal!!!!!!! You can have AF and not O (even with a normal 5-7d AF).

I went 9months with no AF, no O and no BFP until June of this year so i understand your frustrations! My dr was no help either. I took matters into my own hands.

I know it's not I've been trying to tell her but it seemed to go in one ear and out the other I have had the ultra sounds and blood tests to test for PCOS but nothing ever showed on them but they were done at random times in my cycle, I thought the blood tests had to be done on cd3 for PCOS again I could be wrong on that one its just from what I have read. I have all the symptoms of PCOS aswell. I just want answers, the long periods have been going on since just before Christmas, I am going to get the next cd21 blood test then see another dr if I am not referred on.

She also told me to count my spotting before af as cd1 but I have always been told it was when it came in full flow. I really didn't feel like she knew what she was talking about.

CD1 is first of full flow.

Usually bloodwork is done CD3 and CD21 (you could at different times for other things im not well versed in ( such as for IVF, etc). Follicle scan is down before CD21 as well. Lining scan is done after O.

PCOS can be treated with Metformin ( i recommend ER rather than regular).

I dont have a reason for my whacky cycles. They just blame the cyst at this point but i had these problems before it.

Thanks for the info, I'm hoping I can be referred after the next blood test to someone who specialises in this type of thing and get a idea what might be going on, I have always had irregular cycles but was always put on birth control to control them.

It's stressful in the meantime I don't know when my AF will come it could be next month for all I know, I've started dieting and using my excersize bike so I'm hoping it will help reduce the length, it did last year when I started doing it but not massively and I still never had any sign of ovulation then either. They often blame my weight which could be a factor but I'm not 100% my weight is the reason alone. I wish I could fast forward time.
