CD3 tests

My doctor's ordered CD3 bloodwork for me this morning (annoying as I'm on CD7 today so I've got a while to wait!).

Just wondering if anyone knows what they test for? I wasn't wearing my glasses so couldn't see the screen. I know he's asked for FSH and ferritin and ticked several other boxes when I said my cycle's not been regular since the MC in December.

I thought CD21 tests were more important but CD3 is all he's willing to do. He told me he wouldn't run any further tests until I've been trying ANOTHER 12 months...ie: 24 months.

I had cd3 tests today (well they said between day 2-4 so im not sure if that's the same thing?) Mine was testing for pcos and when i asked the nurse what else (after she took 2 vials) she said it was 'sex hormones' - i did notice they tested for lutenising hormones.

Sorry that doesn't really answer your question, im just as confused! Esp when i don't have any symptoms of pcos but the consultant insisted on testing for it... I previously had cd3 blookwork for thyroid tests too.

The doc shouldn't make you wait another 12 months, surely he needs to assess your results first? (sometimes i think us gals learn more on here than from the docs)

dont quote but i think 2-4s if there the same as 3s are LH FSH and they do a couple of others like prolactin i only know this one because my prolactin was borderline raised so i had to have it redone sorry i cant be much use x

Thanks for the link, Rachael...I am going for my CD3 testing tomorrow morning.

I don't know about the whole 2-4 day thing as I had blood drawn this morning (CD2) for other tests but they are still making me go back tomorrow for CD3 bloodwork.

Thanks ladies that's useful. It looks like they can test for most hormones in day3, its only really progesterone that needs to be on cd21 (or 7 days before af)

I sometimes wish the docs would explain more, but it seems until you get to the fertility clinic you don't really see an expert!

Thats alright Navywife hope it was some use to everyone and good luck for your blood tests ive got another 21day blood test on the 12 because this is my first month on clomid! Is everyone feeling like a pin cushion yet coz i truely am!

LizmcD- I totally agree with the doctors dont know much, but they know a little about alot! I was just thankful i got a really good doctor but a terrible FS but you cant win them all i guess!

Progesterone is really the thing I want to have checked so might try to insist on a CD21 test for that as well. I'll make a deal with him that I'll stop whining for a while, if he does these two tests for me.

Hi Rachael,

May I ask if your prolactin back to normal on your second test? I was told today my prolactin was borderline raised also, so I will have to have it redone on Friday. And now I'm worried sick......
