I read today that Chamomile tea can help settle baby and help with windy tummy's. I also read that you can either give them an oz direct or for bf mums they can drink it themselves and it goes in the milk.

So, i have had a look on Dr Google and there isnt any negatives i can find to doing either but i thought i would ask on here. Also, how long would it take to go in my milk if i drink it and how many cups should i drink?

I have had 2 cups tonight and it has really helped me relax so im hoping it will work well for my DS who is suffering from reflux

Unsure about bf but when lo was a few months there was a gripe water shortage. I gave her boiled cooled fennel tea and it worked a treat.

I could be wrong but I don't think it would go into your milk in enough of a concentration to make a difference to LO. You should keep drinking it though, it's a lovely drink.

I'm not sure about giving a LO your baby's age extra fluid other than breast milk but one thing I found that helped with a windy tummy is bicycling my LOs legs or holding his ankles to his groin and pushing in gentle circles (sorry if that's not very clear).

Good luck xxx

Thanks ladies, i think i will keep drinking it this week and see if it helps and maybe try the fennel tea next week. I tried gripe water a couple of weeks back and it seemed to make him more sick but it was also when his reflux got worse so may have been bad timing x

Hi

My LO had reflux and constipation and colic. We were told to give either infant chamomile tea or normal chamomile tea. We were also told to bath her in it when her skin flared up and wipe her eyes with it to help get sleep out when she was ill.

We were told to give her 10ml before milk or during a feed. It worked a treat and she still drinks it now. With the infant tea it's sweeter and you can give more as they get older. Normal chamomile must be weak. We were told when she was very young to give no more than 30ml/1 oz a day.

Nowadays it helps with teething loads.

I gave up caffeine and drank camomile tea and fennel tea. It didn't help LO but I was so desperate I would have tried anything.
Hope it works for you! :)

I've heard of fennel tea for colic/wind (given to baby, not you) in small amounts. I've never tried it though (don't have a colicky baby) but I probably would over regularly using any store-bought medicine.

I have also been told by my midwife that i can give camomile tea directly to my baby by putting a tea bag into the kettle as it boils then let the water cool down. I haven't tried it yet but I think I will as baby has colic, reflux and is suffering with trapped wind and not always being able to poo
