Hey ladies.

I'd like some honest advice! :/

My LMP was on the 24th of April, 2013. According to that, I am supposed to be 7 weeks today. However, I am measuring 5 weeks and 5 days as of yesterday according to the vaginal ultrasound. A yolk sac was found. This was comforting since last week it was empty.

However, I called the doctor about the blood results. She said that at 21,000, you can usually see a fetal pole. She said it might be a blighted ovum and to go to the emergency room if I start bleeding.

I have my next ultrasound two weeks away. So I'm supposed to have this hanging over my heart for 2 weeks?

Lovely news to start my day, huh?:dohh:

I miscarried in March and also had a similar situation where I was measuring behind.

What am I supposed to think? I am tempted to have another ultrasound at another hospital in 10 days.

This same thing happened to me, but I was also spotting. At my 7 week scan my gestational sac was totally empty, and I thought for sure it was over for me even though my HCG was doubling. Went for my 8 week scan and there was jellybean and a heartbeat. I was sure of my dates bc I was charting, but it didn't matter. Babies develop at different rates regardless. This will be the longest 2 weeks of your life, I assure you, and I hope everything turns out great for you.

Thank you so much. :hugs: I just want to know I'm not alone in this. I pray it turns out the same.

the dating/sizing scans are difficult as they are not wholly accurate and as PP said, babies develop at different rates. I am sure there is an average size for a baby at different stages of pregnancy and it may just be yours is a little smaller at the moment.

When I had my first LO, on our scans she was measuring around 7-8lbs and all was fine. She was born at a tiny 5lbs4oz, all fine but much smaller than the scans had suggested, SImilarly, it has happened the other way around where a small baby is expected and sized and a larger baby arrives.

Sending you good vibes and positive thoughts.

Please try to be positive, though I know it's VERY hard! Measurements on scans can definitely be off. It's good that a yolk sac is now showing whereas it wasn't before, but nobody can say for sure. I should think a week would have been long enough to see a change - two weeks just sounds like torture, so i'd push for an earlier scan for your own peace of mind.

Hope it goes well for you :hugs: xxxxxxxxx
