Maybe this is a stupid question but this is only my second month charting. Can you not O but still have a thermal shift? I didn't have O pain this month. When I had a medicated cycle and O'd in Sept, I had pain on the left. Got preg, miscarried in December. I O'd again in February according to my temps and had pain on the right. Just curious, my chart is ugly but I got crosshairs this morning but before the day I had a positive OPK.
....geesh...

I didnt have O pain at O time last cycle either..I had what I thought was O pain before (like days and weeks) it was a CRAZY cycle..and I got a bfp last cycle..I lost it but..
And no you cant have a thermal shift with out Oing because progesterone it what makes your temps rise and you wont get progesterone unless you release a egg... so no thermal shift would happen with out Oing..estrogen would still be keeping your temps down.

the crosshairs are most likely dotted because your thermal shift is before the positive OPK....
Why are those temps around O open? did you temp at a different time?

Thanks Nicole, I thought that was probably the answer but I know there are exceptions to everything and my body seems to follow all of the wrong rules.

NGRidley-They're open because I have odd sleeping patterns. I wake at different times during the early morning, between 2:30 and 5 usually and sometimes I could go back to sleep and sometimes I would just doze and somtimes I would just get up. It doesn't matter if I go to bed at 8 or at midnight. Some mornings I would take my temp multiple times and not know which to use. I've decided just to temp at 6 every morning whether I've been asleep or not.
