ok. so im new to temping and im in need of some advice.

when i woke up this morning and my temp was surprisingly low 97.20 so i immediately took temp again and temp came up 97.73

within the next 5mins i got the following temps
97.75
97.81
97.75
97.70

now im prepared to assume the 97.20 was a glitch since i opened my mouth accidentally to breathe during the temp...

but is this much variation normal?

im following all the normal rules i could find
3 hours sleep
no moving
same time each morning etc.

and my thermometer is just a boots own brand bbt specific digital one...

Did you talk or move around at all during the 5 minutes you took your temps?

It could be that you need a new thermometer or batteries. Mine started doing that after i had it for around a year. I think mine was just a cheapy Walmart one. I upgraded to a little bit better brand and it seemed more accurate.

nope. didnt talk, or move at all, and my thermometer is only a month old!

think ill try again tomorrow and if it happens again ill go back to boots
